Video Games Live CD coming October 15
Find yourself a CD player, yet? An album of epic, gaming proportions is coming October 15 when EMI Classics releases Video Games Live: Greatest Hits -- Volume One. Although it's not a live recording (according to the press release, it was mixed and recorded at London's Abbey Road studios), the collection does feature music from Zelda, Mario, Halo, Warcraft, Sonic, Myst, Civilization IV, Final Fantasy ... and Tron.
No word on the previously-mentioned DVD release, also expected this fall. We've contacted VGL co-creator Tommy Tallarico for more information.

It's going to be cheaper then the show. It was so expensive when it came to LA.
Qitsyoj @ Sep 6th 2007 6:09PM
Oh yay, Halo music... *snore*
Neebs @ Sep 6th 2007 7:15PM
Halo has one of the more beautiful orchestrated soundtracks I've heard in a while.
Ska Oreo @ Sep 6th 2007 11:04PM
Dude the Halo soundtrack fucking rocks!!!
megaStryke @ Sep 7th 2007 9:46AM
Who the hell is smashing the -1 button over positive criticism of Halo's SOUNDTRACK?
megaStryke @ Sep 7th 2007 9:47AM
Alright, it's going up. Better.
blooh @ Sep 6th 2007 6:12PM
i already have mp3's of every ff until x, as well as a bunch of other games. this cd does not cater to my demographic!
konajinx @ Sep 6th 2007 6:30PM
Zzzzzzz...you know, I actually had Tommy Tallarico's album that he put out in the early '90s. That was a bore, too.
Phoenixxx1974 @ Sep 6th 2007 6:41PM
VGL IS NOT A BORE!!!
I loved the concert and will totally buy this CD.
AKTREZ RULES :-D
panzerjedi @ Sep 6th 2007 6:55PM
Maybe I'll be able to hear the music now. Or do they record the cheering as well? =\
mr mobius @ Sep 6th 2007 6:58PM
I will listen to the album but I'll be very picky about my choices. I'll be putting Zelda and Mario on my MP3 player anyway and depends on what else is on the tracklist, other tunes.
Guybrush Threepwood @ Sep 6th 2007 7:02PM
Where is Phoenix Wright music?
blooh @ Sep 6th 2007 7:08PM

Koji Kondo?
Yes please.
Anononomous @ Sep 6th 2007 7:33PM
What's your problem with TRON?
hvnlysoldr @ Sep 6th 2007 8:47PM
It did and didn't feel Disney enough.
megaStryke @ Sep 7th 2007 9:48AM
So... its Disney-ness cancelled itself out?
Luther @ Sep 6th 2007 7:53PM
I've been to two Video Games Live concerts, and they are very impressive. The arrangements, however, are not so impressive. Many of them are old arrangements that most video game music fans have had for a while (Super Mario, Zelda). The Play! Symphony has some much better arrangements, although I definitely prefer the VGL Sonic medley.
In any case, I plan to pick up the CD since it sounds like it will be studio-recorded. Unfortunately, a lot of the songs they perform are identical to the original recordings, so some of the value is lost there. Oh well, it beats having the music interrupted by teens and preteens who have never attended a symphony concert before.
Xeno Mezphy @ Sep 7th 2007 12:58AM
I will be picking this CD up indeed. I will listen to it mightily and perhaps it shall engage me in a bout of uncontrollable and incurable reminiscence.
megaStryke @ Sep 7th 2007 9:50AM
If you asshats want more video game-themed CDs to be released outside the Orient then you DAMN well better show support for this CD.
Becky Young @ Sep 7th 2007 3:46PM
Hey guys, thanks for the comments. We are hoping that you come out and actually PURCHASE this CD so that video games and VG music will be supported. These composers are all out there working their asses off for YOU. Show your support and give back by attending the shows and purchasing the music that you love.
If you have any questions about the CD or the shows, I will be more than happy to answer them for you!

BTW Becky, I believe that Tommy Tallarico's love for the movie TRON is on public record. Am I right about that?
And BTW, I'll be getting this one. Can't NOT get this one. Hopefully they don't pull the Wal*Fart exclusive sh&t that the Eagles pulled for their new CD.
