I tried running the ad-supported Farcry 1 on my laptop with the lowest settings and it chugged. Oh, and the ground disappeared. Chances are I'm going to skip the sequel.

For more exciting stories like this one, keep hitting refresh! I'll be posting all day.

i played it on a pretty crappy old desktop and it ran fine. (at least until the final levels). If you laptop has any sort of dedicated graphics card it should play.

Beautiful, again.

BUT, FarCry, just not a good game.

Which version? The original PC farcry game was one of the best games i've played in the last 5 years.

I didn't really enjoy the first one. I found it hard/annoying.

In reality, it's probably just me sucking at PC games. I prefer a controller to a keyboard + mouse anyday. I just remember being annoyed with the controls and constantly dying. So, like I said, it's probably just my own suckage.

Actually, I think it's Ubisoft. So you still shouldn't expect any effort.

Looks a lot better than the first one. The graphics are stunning, nice environments, and a great setting.

Realism?, He got shot twice in the freaking hand and he can still use a gun, he got shot in the leg and he continue like if it was nothing. More like Hollywood Realism because you have to be a real Macho to continue just like that.

I have to say this is the most impressive game I have ever seen, I believe it looks better than crysis and it just Pre-Alpha. Please do a Console port :(

Seconding the hope for a console port. With the only (for my tastes) must-have PC game, Starcraft 2, scalable to run on anything from a brand new machine to a sugar packet, it's these amazing-looking games that have me hoping they'll get a console port.

I know I'm not alone in not being able to afford to keep upgrading my PC for the few exclusives that appeal to my tastes (FarCry 2 being one of them.) It's a sad state of affairs. I have a feeling we'll see Crysis and/or FC2 on the 360 before too long, though.

That's some pretty amazing tech. My favorite parts of FarCry were the expanse of land, the lush visuals, and the awesome enemy human AI.

So the best news from this? No more Trigens. They totally bogged down the original game for me and took an advanced AI-based tactical shooter and turned it into mindless run-and-gun.

Also I've never been this excited for a flame thrower in a game.

Awesome, looks really really great. Seems like the a couple of good PC games are coming up in addition to the very good ones we got in the last year or so.

I just nerdgasmed. It's those kind of games which justify next-gen gaming with a HD screen and awesome surround sound.

"Gameplay is better"... I agree, but if you didn't get blown away by this PRE-ALPHA preview, you need glasses. Plus, hit and run chaos looked REALLY fun. =P (KILL IT WITH FIRE)

It looks great.I would like to play it on Wii... multiplayer.

Yeah, I laughed as well.
Here's hoping for a 360 version.

But, as for the "ragdoll" effect. Where you shoot them in the leg and they hold their leg? That's nothing new. It's been done. Over 10 years ago. On Goldeneye.

Except that was straight up animation, with zero ragdoll.

For example, if someone was shot in Goldeneye, they'd go through the same animation every time, and hold the exact same place, no matter where in the leg you shot them.

In this game, if you shoot them in the leg with a powerful enough weapon, there leg and body will go flying, and they will clutch at it in the exact place they were shot. It's a much more immersive(sp?) effect and should add some cool effect to it.

To the person who was saying this game isn't 100% realistic, getting shot and still walking. I can see what you're saying. But games hat are 100% realistic like that aren't fun. I like my realism in game like this is small doses, it makes for a much more enjoyable experience.

1.No one wants to play a game where you become immobile if you get shot, especially when the odds are 1 against... a lot.

2.I get the feeling that the guy playing was unable to die, and rightly so. He took a lot of damage here and there and I think a grenade landed like right next to him or a barrel blew up or something at the fuel depo. However, it really wouldn't make sense to have a guy play a demo live and make him able to die, especially if he is just screwing around to show people some features. The video would end up being 13 minutes of restarting. I get the feeling that, were it the final build with no "cheats," he would have a been dead there once or twice.

Is this game using the crytek2 engine? Or is it the product of a major tweeking of the farcry engine?

They started out tweaking the original crytek engine they got from producing Farcy but they ended up making their own entirely.
