A few of you have been asking what a new title update for BioShock on the 360 does and the answer is ... well, it's kind of pedestrian. Straight from 2K's corporate hive mouth: "Update improves stability when loading autosaves and overall game stability, corrects audio during title menu loading, and addresses AI behaviors regarding use of health stations." ... "Plasmid Pack 1" it is not.
So there you go. If you've been having a problem with one of the issues being addressed, this is probably a godsend, if not, you're probably already skipping down to comments to type an ever-increasing row of "zzzz"s. Have fun with that.

Oh more stability, is that all. So it's a maintenance update and not really worthy of criticism. Must be hard having a popular game.

Too bad it does jack shit, take a look at the 2kforums.
People reporting the patch actually made the performance WORSE.
Also, where the hell is our PC patch?
Take a look at the PC problems thread on the above mentioned forums, compare it to the XBOX360 problems thread.
Doesn't take a genius to see one is more urgently needed than the other.

There was a problem with the AI using health stations? Granted when in the middle of a fight and the AI runs for the health station, it pisses me off but at the same time its kind of cool that they know what to do and not just stand there and die.

it didnt say they were getting rid of it, it said
"addresses AI behaviors regarding use of health stations."
I think if they used them more it would add to teh game difficulty. personally i just destroy the stations when i see em for the one or two med kits.

Okay, I'm good. IMO though, this is seriously a 'meh' worthy update. Sure, it's helpful I suppose (I think) but all in all..totally nothing cool at all.
Givez meh the plazmidzzzzzzz

Everyone has already finished Bioshock, why release patches?

I haven't finished it yet damnit! Though... I'm close. ;)
Really though, the only glitch I encountered in the game is when you were in the middle of a battle or some other commotion was going on and I'd go to hack a turret or what-have-you, the sound effects would drop out. It's not major, but somewhat annoying. You would just hear ambient sounds/music but the "clinking" of moving the tiles around would be missing.
Meh, not a big deal. But hopefully it was addressed.

I haven't because I can barely play the game as it constantly crashes. 2K needs to issue a PC patch ASAP. Honestly, this is the most problem ridden game I've ever played.

Yeah we have been having the stall problems as well.
Basically it's like a multiplayer lagg without the multiplayer.
The game keeps going but for about half a second the screen doesnt update. Then suddenly it comes back to life and you can carry on for a little while. It usually happens a couple of times a minute.
There is a couple of work-arounds though. Clearing the 360's cache will get rid of the patch and fix it. The solution with the least amount of effort is this: when the game is loading (when you start the game from dashboard, not when loading a save) hold both bumper buttons. This apparently clears the cache for BioShock. Tested it out and it does work, for a while, eventually the issue comes back.

After the update Bioshock started to run extremely choppy for me. Cleared the cache and all is back to normal. Excellent update :)

It's funny that no one ever mentions frame rate dips on 360 games yet pounces on the PS3 when it gets them.

no, its even funnier that every ps3 game has them worse, go away troll

Personally, I'll take stability over more features. I've finished the game (960/1000 achievement points) and am now re-playing on hard. Yes, it was pretty stable but it did crash 3 times and had occasional temporary-freeze and framerate issues - I am ALWAYS happy to see an update that increases stability and solving problems with Load/Save is IMPORTANT. You make "zzz" but if it messes up a save file and you have to go back 3 hours you are going to be screaming bloody murder at the top of your lungs (and you know it).

According to "Those people which name shall not be pronounced" the Upgrade causes technical problems.
A quick quote from them:
"It's screwing up a lot of people's games. We've received a ton of emails from readers complaining about the game now freezing constantly, and sometimes locking up completely. 2K say they're working on a fix, but until then, you can get around this by clearing your 360's cache. To do this, just hold both bumper buttons while the game's booting, and don't let go until you see the 2K logo. That should do it."
Basically DO NOT Upgrade.

Thanks for the bumper trick guys, the freezing issue was starting to get really bad for me, freezing every 10 seconds at the worst, often for up to 2 seconds. What the hell kind of an update makes the game run worse? Mental.

I was wondering why I've never seen the splicers go for the health stations.
Reply

They do but not frequently also you have to let the splicers go,For example I saw a splicer using a Heal station once in hard.I hit it with the Revolver and it run away to a Heal station.
But that was on Neptune's Bounty,I've never saw that again in later levels.

If you downloaded the patch and it's making the game hell, hold the two shoulder buttons while the game loads. Wait until the 2K logo pops up, then let the buttons go. This should dump the cache and delete the update.

I like this "predict what the commenters will say" stuff. You should do that at the bottom of every post. Like, do the normal news post, then have another sub-heading that says "Predicted Comments". Awesome.

DO NOT ACCEPT THE UPDATE!!!
It will cause the framerate to drop and get all choppy.
This is not a joke, the update is borked.

Uninspiring? It's a patch.
Wasn't the game just released? Are people seriously expecting major new content or something?
