Halo 3 'early adopter' banned for many lifetimes

You can read a response allegedly from Scar here. We've contacted Major Nelson to find out if there is a planned server maintenance scheduled for January 1, 10000 AD. (Which, not to concern anyone, is January 1 7990 AR, or After the Robot Revolution.)

that's when some people may need to activate their copy of Windows Vista..=X
waves @ Sep 7th 2007 6:40PM
What's really funny is the thread on the xbox forums where they figure out why they were banned. They thought it was because they updated UNO. hehe.

What, you think that Compy 386 will run Halo 3 but Lappy 486 would not??? Either way I think there's a better chance that The Cheat will be 0wnz0ring n00bs rather than Strong Bad.
BPM @ Sep 7th 2007 4:21PM
Strong Bad's punching gloves give him mad FPS skillz.
DeadPlasmaCell @ Sep 7th 2007 3:51PM
Pretty funny stuff.. Though I'm guessin that MS is still going to catch flak from the kiddos because someone got banned for doing something they weren't supposed to.

Didn't he have to be an employee or close friend to the people in Bungie/Microsoft? I rather loose my XBL acct then me or my family members job...
waves @ Sep 7th 2007 6:30PM
From what I heard, a Bungie employee got access for their kid. The kind was tricked into handing his account info over to these guys. They told him they'd trade him for access to a PGR4 beta (which didn't exist, I believe). They then logged in with his account info and downloaded Halo Epsilon.
Apparently (again, I could be wrong), these are guys who buy RROD 360s, refurb them and sell them off. Yet another reason why you don't buy used 360s.
Also, check out the guys game score. 61,000! I would feel bad for them if they weren't such scum.
Word of the street. @ Sep 7th 2007 6:49PM
Waves,
Seriously. Well those bastards deserve to be banned, also I found really intriguing how could anyone get 61,000 I mean they aren’t 61 Disney games on the x360 right?.
Jim Halpert DM @ Sep 7th 2007 3:54PM
Looks like he got sentenced to life in prison on 3 counts of dumbass.
AJD2 @ Sep 7th 2007 3:59PM
I agree. If your gonna get sneak peeks like that you could at least play offline and record it or something. Be smart guy. BE SMART

We're just wayyyyyyy too connected.
Imagine that, your f-ing console calls back the mothership everytime you play a game.
Privacy is dead. Screw the douchebag who got Halo3. Got what he deserved.
AndrewNeo @ Sep 7th 2007 4:00PM
Imagine that, a private, internal beta that shouldn't have gotten out phones home.
Mr Khan @ Sep 7th 2007 3:56PM
Yeah, i'm generally all for liberalizing the rules for network play
But this person was just stupid

anyone know if this "scar" is the same guy as "snprslick" who was also banned for playing h3 because he broadcasted it thru ustream.tv which is a breach of the nda.
Hirsbrunner @ Sep 7th 2007 4:06PM
Normally I'm not a grammar whore, but...
". According to this picture at Homicidal Insomniac, the name Scar is won't be able to post.."
and
"We've contacted Major Nelson to find out of their is a planned server maintenance scheduled..."

i noticed both of those too.
...it bothered me.

Nox @ Sep 7th 2007 4:12PM
Hahaha what a chump. He lost a pretty big gamerscore too.
Monthenor @ Sep 7th 2007 4:14PM
12/31/9999 is the max date allowed in a Microsoft SQL Server datetime column at the moment. If they could ban him longer, they would.
MariosInferno @ Sep 7th 2007 4:19PM
If I were MS, I would have thrown in a RROD for good measure.
BAMM!
Liquid @ Sep 7th 2007 5:01PM
I am sick and tired of hearing about the RROD, but that was fuckin hilarious. Y
waves @ Sep 7th 2007 6:43PM
Supposedly these are guys who buy broken 360s, refurb them, and sell them off again. How much do you want to bet he'll just sell off the one that got banned?
Yet another reason why you shouldn't buy used 360s.
Matt B @ Sep 7th 2007 4:15PM
At least the 360 hardware issues should be solved by then. ;P
FrankTheCrank @ Sep 7th 2007 4:23PM
Oh damn....ZING!!!
That was a good one!
colin @ Sep 7th 2007 4:23PM
gamerscore: 61,707, ouch. i've only got 4100 and i would cry if i had to get a new account. but i earned my 4100, he probably glitched most of his. i can't imagine doing the headchomp achievement in Alien Hominid again.
squeevi @ Sep 7th 2007 4:39PM
I know what you mean man. I'm sitting at a meager 3300 and I would be devastated if I lost those few points, lol. With what little time I actually get to play, I feel like I worked hard for every point.
Word of the street. @ Sep 7th 2007 6:57PM
5,500 good earned achievements and I mean earned because I didn't get them like some people do by renting games like Fight night round or Disney games that practically give you free achievements or by a Glitch.
No sir I did it by playing every game I have in Hard mode, the only ones missing are the ones that require more than 3 hours of gameplay such as “7 day survivor” and the “Seriously” achievement in Gears of War.
Really I don't what I would do if my account was banned, I don’t feel like doing the whole “Saint” Walkthrough again in Dead Rising.
colin @ Sep 7th 2007 7:03PM
@Wots.,
i hear ya man, but you can't sensor yourself from games just because the achievements are easy. if you hadn't played fight night round 3, u should check it out, the easy achievements are just a bonus. i did rent tmnt, but i stopped after 200 achievement points, it was that bad. that was my first and last gamerscore whoring adventure.
sheppy @ Sep 7th 2007 7:36PM
I must be the only person who doesn't care about achievement points. I mean, they killed a games fun for me. COD2. Bought it, decided to get all the points, and began to play on the hardest setting. Got so frustrated COD2 now sits on a shelf, unwanted, unloved, and the free mappack codes, unredeemed. Since then I've been like "fuck it, if I get points I get points."
I'm sitting at 3500 right now.
colin @ Sep 7th 2007 7:54PM
@sheppy,
i care to an extent. i'm not obsessed. but the tougher achievements are very gratifying when you get them. it's more of a personal accomplishment vs. bragging rights. it also makes me challenge myself more in games. i wouldn't have challenged myself to get better in Guitar Hero II if it wasn't for the achievements. but on the other hand, i don't play dead rising near as much as i should because i feel a sort of inadequacy and a need to achieve everything in one runthrough which is probably impossible.
Word of the street. @ Sep 7th 2007 8:17PM
Well you are right on that one collin also I might check Fight Night Round, I have never played a Boxing game before, sounds interesting.
I know what you are saying Sheppy, some achievements are incredible frustrating and Boring but not all of them, a quick example: Dead Rising.
Dead Rising Achievements made that game awesome and the best part is that it truly made me play the game again but in different ways also it really makes you want to be the best in the game. Is considered one of the hardest games on the x360 and I got 94% of the achievements, I had to stop playing after I got Gears of War, The Darkness, Crackdown, Forza 2 and Now Bioshock.
When I get all the Bioshock achievements I might finish the “Otis” walkthrough so I only have 2 achievements left. Is impossible for me to get the 5 and 7 day survivor achievements since I never get to play more than 3 hours and that so sad because I was having a lot of fun in the first 3 hours, Surviving in that game is awesome, except when you have to wait the 10 minutes before having to move again (That’s a pro tip, Get all the food you can and camp at one spot then wait until you have just enough food to continue to the next point)
In all my experience the most frustrating achievements are the ones in Crackdown, they are tedious and yet I keep playing it like for 15 minutes whenever I feel like it.
sheppy @ Sep 7th 2007 8:51PM
Well basically, COD2 killed it for me because, unless you played the hardest difficulty, you only unlocked two achievements. But for each level on the hardest is a new achievement. I also despise time trials and such so my Tomb Raider Legends effectively remains incomplete. I basically play until I get bored with the game. I looked up the achievements on Dynasty Warriors: Gundam and I was tempted to play it just so I don't have to manually translate that game. Sad part? On my copy of Gundam Musuo, 3/4s of the ahcievements would be unlocked already. Co-op is seriously fun in that game. Plus, having a friend handy during the insanely stupid sequence in Original Mode where I started a level and literally fought Gato's Gelgoog, Tal-geese III, God Gundam, Zeta Gundam, and then Double Zeta Gundam in a marathon. Five bosses in a row when the game's normal missions are literally 4 bosses max spread out across a 20 minute mission.
Word of the street. @ Sep 7th 2007 9:11PM
I didn't know there was another Gundam game for the x360,sounds like like fun.I was looking foward to DW:Gundam but I might buy it when it gets a price cut.
Tell me that other Gundam game you can get it anywhere or you have to import it,seriously I didn't know of it existance until Now.
doomcloud @ Sep 7th 2007 4:28PM
scar'd HAYOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Stretchpants @ Sep 7th 2007 4:40PM
Yeah, his gamerscore was likely attained through gamesaving. Apparently he finished Forza 2 (and other time-intensive titles) all in a single day. I'd imagine he'll have a new account with plenty of points in no time.
ThornedVenom @ Sep 7th 2007 4:53PM
What the fuck was he thinking? Does that mean that he was able to play online with other people with early Halo 3 copies?
chenry @ Sep 7th 2007 5:10PM
ha ha, halowned?
24 @ Sep 7th 2007 5:07PM
what an utter idiot. he got what was coming to him;when you're dumb enough to go online with a leaked copy, you don't deserve to be there in the first place.
Dionkey @ Sep 8th 2007 8:20AM
Take a closer look at his gamertag... 61K in gamerscore? Bbut thinking that he has no proof that it was because of Halo 3 epsilon. I am calling shenanigans and saying that he got banned for game saving or modding.
Kye @ Sep 7th 2007 5:14PM
I wonder if he' tried the SolidWorks date trick:
>One day left of my free trial? But I have coursework to finish! Let me just set my pc's clock/calendar back a few dates... Zing!<
He could try setting the date to 31/12/9999 wait a day and see what happens.Yes yes, I know I know HD and all, but hey, weirder things happen all the time and you never know.
