Master Chief fully waxed with Fall Out Boy at Madame Tussauds Vegas

According to Madame Tussauds, Master Chief is the first video game character immortalized by them in their 250-year history. Sadly, his first big photo-op after being revealed was with Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz. Master Chief is only on display at the Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas located near the Venetian Casino. A Tussauds rep tells Joystiq, "The Master Chief may go on loan to other locations, but his permanent home will be in Las Vegas."

It looks like GamerTagRadio definitely had the scoop on this story, the statue was created in London and flown to Vegas for the big reveal. In the end the Master Chief statue is 7'2" tall and weighs 275 lbs, he required ten artists who worked 892 man-hours. And he's not made out of wax like we would think, it actually took 1,000 pounds of clay to put him together. Madame Tussauds tells us that there will be an event at the Vegas location for the Halo 3 launch, but details are still being worked out with Microsoft. The statue is currently on display with plenty of Halo related merchandising, merchandising -- where the real money from the game is made.

Glad to see the internets still acts like sheep and blindly follows the opinion of everyone else. However, it's usually in the "we all must hate the same thing" instead of "we all must like the same thing" way.

Guys grow up, Fall Out Boy is a band. I happen to like some of their songs. If you don't, fine, but it seems to me most of you are posting hate for them to gain some sort of "I'm better than you because I reject anything that's remotely mainstream" web-cred.

This has firmly cemented my dislike of both the halo series and fallout boy. Now all I need is jessica simpson and mario to pose together and I'll be set.

Why did he get the job? Well he prob'ly happened to be in Vegas at that time supposedly broke as a mo-fo they gave him 20 bucks to "touch the shaft".

And if you really think that picture is bad then I want to see your faces in about 3 months or so when the first real nerds have posted entire collections of themselves with the MC featuring T-Shirts like "My skills as a lover are LEGENDARY", "Press X to swap for style" or "Cortana is hot". Can't wait for the Halo tattoo guy to get naked inside the museum to get a shot of his back mess with the Chief.

Though, 1000 lbs would be closer to his supposed "actual" weight...

Wet weight vs. dry weight of the clay. It's about 3/4 water to begin with.

While i could care less about this guy taking a horrid pic next to a great work of art.... I must say it was great Joystiq put in the Spaceballs reference people seem to have missed with the "mechanizing, merchandising" lol.

anywho, while the statue is absolutely beautiful, and kudos for them for doing it so well, i could honestly think of hundreds of gaming characters that are much more important to the industry to make. plus they would have been much easier ^_^, i mean pacman is just a ball with a slice taken out with two eyes and arms lol.

The most important characters to the industry are all pretty much basic looking, thus if someone saw a sculpture of them, be it Mario or Sonic or Pac-Man it wouldn't get as much praise. Just because....it took only a couple hours to sculpt. heheh ;)

Samus Aran would be another interesting sculpture to see.
