Today's fastest, bluest video: Sonic Rush Adventure gameplay

We had a few concerns with Sonic Rush Adventure -- less with the "Rush" part of the title, and more with the "Adventure" -- but the latest gameplay trailers shows us that SRA is more of a good thing. Nothing wrong with classic Sonic side-scrolling, super-fast action (albeit with a few 3D boss battles and water-sports thrown in for good measure).

Still, Sonic hasn't been doing so hot in recent history. Is Rush Adventure the game to pull the blazing blue mascot out of the gutter?

And here I thought Sonic Rush 1 was the game that pulled Sonic out of the gutter.

And the sonic games on GBA were pretty good too.

Yeah, so far, all of Dimps' portable Sonics have been solid.

Do not confuse Console Sonic for Handheld Sonic.

OOOOONLY, Dimps and SEGA had a BIG falling out and so Sonic Rush Adventure isn't actually made by Dimps, it's made by SEGA Studios, the same geniuses who made such GREAT, WHOLESOME entertainment such as; Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic and the Secret Rings.

Yeah, SRA is going to blow just as equally.

Sonic Rush was okay, but the Sonic Advance games sucked. Poor level design with too many pits and blind jumps is never a good thing.

step 1: put money into research to figure out what gamers want from sonic on consoles.

Call me crazy, but it actually looks pretty good.

I agree. It looks like more of Rush, which is a good thing. Adding in the jet ski sequences and other 3D stuff to a predominantly 2D game doesn't sound like a bad thing to me and it looked like a lot of fun.

Hopefully Sega can turn all the good 2D bits into 3D for consoles, since they obviously aren't ever going to make a current/next-gen 2D Sonic. If they would just start learning from their mistakes and stop trying to change things up so much.

REMINDER: Sonic the Hedgehog is a series about a hedgehog that runs really really fast from point A to point B, which is a spinning sign that signifies a stage's completion. Occasionally he runs into giant rings that he can jump into to do a bonus stage for a Chaos Emerald. Every few stages, Dr. Robotnik pops in for a boss fight at the end of the stage.

There you go, Sega. That's what you have to work with.

The sonic on the Wii was also good.

Although you, samfish, and I are apparently the only people that think so :)

Looks exactly the same as everything we've played already. Oh, running in a circle around a 3d boss jumping over tentacles? Been there, done that..

I have been waiting patiently for a AAA console Sonic game for so long it seems unbelievable. At least this portable one looks half decent.

WOW! This looks like an updated Sonic game of old. This one seems like it will please the old skewl SEGA fans but will it ressurect Sonic to the pop status he held in the 90's? Hell No, no matter how GREAT it may be.

Why don't developers make 2D games? I would like to see and all out 2D Metroid on the Wii, a 2D Sonic game on the 360.

so does anybody know if you can collect all 7 emeralds in SRA and go super??? if not then this game craps and should be bombed... what's a sonic game without super sonic???
