Well, when the 360 has a game like Warhawk let me know. I really enjoy the 32-player battles it offers. I have yet to play anything on the 360 that offers the same sort of experience.

I think sometimes theres no reason at all for the 360 to get better reviews but it does. Graw2 for instance for what I read sounded like a better ps3 game then 360 game. Some minor color issues that didnt matter since the enviroment is desert anyway. Not enough to warrant such a lower score.

Skate honestly looked better on the ps3. Not playing the game and basing off of video and screenhots, but there seemd to be AA issues on the 360 version. It was as if they mixed up the pics between the ps3 and the 360 version.

It looks like reviewers are rewarding the game that comes out first, with a higher score simply becasue its the first version that get to play.

phrantcoast and vid,

I am referring specifically to exclusive review scores, not multiplatform. Multiplatform games tend to have tiny score differences that have more to do with console exclusive publications only rating one version of the game or the other, giving each version a unique reviewer set. Madden is one exception where 60fps over 30fps is actually significant and gets different scores.

And Vid, what the hell is your point? Warhawk is fun and there isn't anything quite like it on 360. I'll agree with you. But I don't understand how it is an appropriate response to my question of why 360 games consistently score better than PS3 games. Sounds like a blind fanboy defense against something I didn't mean as an attack per se in the first place. You try to hard sometimes.

Well, and to answer your question, BFII on PC/360 is similar (the franchise Warhawk is emulating). They obviously aren't the same, but my experience with both makes me see a lot of resemblances.

@Jake

Well how is your post even valid in this comments section? It's not. But since you went OT I responded to it... and now I'll explain how it relates to your comment.

You pointed out that PS3 games are generally receiving lower scores than 360 games, which I'll not dispute. But in the case of HS and Warhawk we are still talking about games with Metacritic scores over 80%. Perhaps not AAA, but good by any standard. But more to the point, these games offer experiences that can't be had on the 360. So I was simply making that point that they may not have the same score as a game like Bioshock, but Bioshock can't replace them either.

Yes because EVERYONE loves extreme sports... i'll have to pass on skate. Never liked those types of games anyway.

and since was anything in the 80%+ range a BAD game?

Do fanboys really have to sink so low as to label anygame less than 90% as bad? I'm looking forward to heavenly sword as i loved the demo and it honestly looks like a fun game, hyped or not.

besides are you REALLY comparing a game with 15+ reviews out to a game with ONE review according to GRankings?

besides if we ONLY followed gamerankings apparently the 2 big RPGs (one of my favorite genres mind you) for the 360 blue dragon and eternal sonata aren't worth getting eh? as they have low (70-80%) ratings too?

Don't forget Two Worlds which was another "Must Have" exclusive for the 360. Maybe because it is ranked lower than LAIR.

Imagine a Zelda game with anything less than a 95%. How about a Halo game? GranTurismo? God of War? Metal Gear? Final Fantasy? You catching my drift?

Heavenly Sword has been perceived as somewhat of a saving grace for the PS3. A reason to own a PS3. A game that finally sits on the pedestal as being the system's most solid game. I guess people/reviewers are disappointed it just isn't any of the above. It's kinda being marketed that way too...

Although, I think it's complete bull$#*! that reviewers are consistently comparing it to God of War, and knocking scores down because it's a short experience. I don't see what's wrong with a short but sweet experience.

Yes, 80+ range in reviews is pretty decent...just not the PS3 saving grace people wanted it to be I guess. No worries though, I bet this game will still do well considering it's practically one of the only good games on the system.

Keeko - "...it's practically one of the only good games on the system."

Its a good game now? I am so confused. I think it will do well because PS3 owners are desperate for any games. Heck, I thought about buying it with the bad reviews. Yet I resisted the urge.

FYI to Matt - I was pretty harsh on 2 Worlds when it came out to, and it sure is bad when compared to Oblivion. That being said - the game is actually fun when you give it some time. Not a must have, but not the junk its attacked as. Either way, it wasn't a game who's hype was done to aid the system in sales like Lair was. The 360 didn't need a system seller through 2 Worlds. Sony did and still does need that system seller.

Damn, Keeko, I had misread - your quote was right, HS is one of the few warmly reviewed games on this system.

I need more sleep before I type.

The Wii is also getting Guilty Gear XX ^Core (not just the PS2). Which I'll no doubt be picking up. The Japanese audience have been hording over me saying its the most balanced Guilty Gear yet, and that's an amazing feat given how balanced Slash is.

I don't quite understand why people are complaining about the Heavenly Sword 80% metareview, it's not a bad game obviously, it just didn't live up to the extreme hype, which what game can do that besides Smash Bros. and Metal Gear Solid? All Heavenly Sword really is is God of War with some new mechanics and a new skin, not much to see there. Though the main character is still fucking hot. I'd pick this up if I had a PS3. The only game to really bash on is Lair, and it's comprehensive review guides.

I don't understand why Kengo doesn't get any attention. It's the first Bushido Blade we've gotten since 2001 thanks to Kengo 3 never coming to the US. Do people just not care about this series anymore because of the major flop that was the first Bushido under the name of Kengo? Kengo 2 was an exellent game and hugely ignored. Can people not see the value in an online Bushido Blade? I'll be picking Legend of the 9 up in any case. Since it looks like this one is going to be ignored by gamers it'll probably be the last Kengo to make it over here, so I might as well enjoy it while I can.

Yeah, Drawn to Life, getting it. Looks like a mediocre side scroller but the gimmicks won me over.

Eh, never mind about Kengo Legend of the 9's online. Apparently is AI run, you just set their style and methods and such and watch. Even so it's still a game to pick up since it'll only be $40, something to play with your friends at home. Sucks about the whole live thing though.

Wait, I was unaware of these games. How similar are they to the original Bushido Blade games for the Playstation? Can you still disable your opponents limbs? Inquiring minds want to know!

Depending on how similar it is to Bushido Blade, I will totally pick this up for $40.

It's a sword fighting simulator just like Bushido, but no, I don't believe it has any real disabling. Though one well connected hit can still kill the shit out of you.

Hehehe! No worries NATO_Duke. It's hard to sift through all the fanboy and useless jargon that finds it's way into the comments section sometimes!

Heavenly Sword's scores, in a way, dictate a solid rental rather than a must buy. Not that I'm gonna play it anyways, I don't have a PS3! Still looking for a reason really, as I'm NOT a Final Fantasy fan, NOR a Metal Gear fan. For the record, I'm not a Halo fan either, but found PLENTY reason to own a 360. Might grab NHL 08 this week personally...

I always hit reply and then have my email and pass, dont have any clue why it would use your first name like that. Weird.

I have the PS3 just because of the solid rpgs - even though I hardly had played them in the past. These days its mostly for blueray though, and in retrospect I would have waited to get it until a larger library was available for games. Silly me, I thought it would also allow my gf to play guitar hero on it too - but nope. (WTF is up with no adapter Sony!?)

As far as HS goes, it is good to see a PS3 game get solid reviews, een if not as high as folks wanted. I imagine we will see that continue until something new and refreshing feeling is made.

Think I got it fixed! Have a nice Avatar now too! Yayz!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm an obsessive tech junkie myself. When the PS3 dropped, I was hyper interested in buying one. Alas, I'm glad I resisted temptation. There's just no reason to buy one if you're a 360 owner yet. Really...all fanboyism aside.

Was REALLY banking on HS...not that I was gonna run out and buy a PS3 to play it, but it would have been nice to see a start to the good games flowing into the machine.

It's starting to seem like reviewers are becoming more and more centered on the 360 nowadays though. It's kinda getting on my nerves really. Not that Metroid Prime 3 is getting terrible reviews, but even slight mentions about BioShock when reviewing a Wii game is utter nonsense. Why mention a f'n 360 game when reviewing a Wii game? Seriously? OF COURSE MP3 doesn't have sexy HD visuals like BioShock, I mean, WTF? I happened to buy the console KNOWING it's not an Xbox 360 with motion control.

Anyways, straying from topic here...it really is just too bad about HS not being the holy grail for the PS3. However, if I had a machine, I'd certainly grab a copy...80+% doesn't sound bad to me...provided the gameplay looks enticing to you specifically. I'm attracted to games with less hype and praise anyways. Played through BioShock, and due to overhype, found I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have. Bought a cheap copy of Tomb Raider Legend for 360, and LOVED every second of it.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Heavenly Sword is a must buy for me. I'm waiting for it to arrive in the stores now. Any action game above 80% is a must have and RPGs 70% or above...since RPGs always seem to get low scores regardless of system (not action RPGs like Zelda). Besides...Wii's Zelda isn't even all that cool...bloated review scores.

I actually really liked the short animated prologue series Sony did for Heavenly Sword. Wish they would do an on going animated series with that.
