Rumor: 40GB PS3 for $400, 80GB to $500

$400...tempting, very tempting...

Only reason I would want one at the moment is for FF13, but yeah - will probably get it since I wasn't wanting to pay $799.99 for the damned thing...

Even then FFXIII is just ONE game....

And we don't even know yet if its truly gonna be that great. Yeah its FF and it will sell millions most likely just cuz of those two words but that doesn't mean the quality of the game will be on par.

As for the pricing reports they may be true but I doubt it just cuz it will cause even MORE loss for sony in terms of money. I mean the 20G was losing lots of money for them and it was selling at a HIGHER price.

Yet they are selling a 40G version (wouldn't it cost more to produce since it has a bigger Hard Drive) for LESS money. So that equals greater loss.

That and the fact that if it does come out ONE Of the versions won't be doing so hot and it could be either one. The 80G because of its not higher price or the 40G because sony and its fanboys are obsessed with hard drives.

Good. Awesome. $400 is exactly where PS3 needs to be for Christmas. I doubt anyone will be severely limited by the 40GB HD, and including SM3 in the box is a good move. Sony may be showing a glimmer of good sense!

So let me get this right. Sony brought out the 80 gig, announced they were discontinuing the 60 gig, now their launching a 40 gig? Not even Mr Spock could figure out the logic in that.

I'm sad that sony is trying to mend its broken relationship with the general gaming populus. Boo hoo.

All I was waiting for was the $400 price mark. To anyone who says $100 is not alot of money is either: very rich or does not have real responsibilities yet. For me, who has a wife and a child (I am not old either, I am 20) and every dollar counts. For instance, $100 can feed my child with one can of formula, buy one pack of diapers, and take him to the doctors...once. Understand that his little butt needs two-three packs of diapers a month, anywhere from two-four can of formula (not including jarred food) and at least one doctor visit a month and then add on all the bills before him; rent, two car loans, electricity, gas, car insurance (high because on loans), internet, health and dental insurance, two cell phone plans and you begin to understand that real life is expensive to everyone not living off their parents or extremely rich, $100 is indeed not something to "wipe my ass with".

As a side note, I make almost $600 more than all of this costs a month and could afford a high end sku, but jesus man, all that for just the system is outrageous and need a lower price point AND more games, period.
