COD4 dev becomes most popular gamertag
Move over Major Nelson, thy reign has come to an end. According to Xbox.com, the most popular gamertag honor has been transferred to fourzerotwo, a lowly developer working on a little-known-game entitled Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
How did this underdog best the Voice of Microsoft's console? We expect a full-on popularity assault by The Major (real name Larry Hyrb). This fight isn't over, you can bet your gamerscore on it.

Can we really 'better' our gamerscore on it? Or could you just not find your dictionary/web browser?

It's probably from everyone trying to message him for a beta key.

Perhaps I'm dumb, too, but what does most popular mean in this context? He gets the most messages? The most friend requests? It can't be the most friends because that's capped at 100. So what is this based on?

I know I sent 402 a message, thanking him for being honest about the big CoD4 beta token fiasco, and helping everyone that signed up get a token. I also don't bother with Major Nelson's fanboy spewage anymore.

I'd assume this happened when he told his gamertag to the world in Larry Hyrb's podcast.

Not to nitpick, but fourzerotwo is not a "lowly developer". I can't find his official title right now, but he's something like community evangelist, etc.
