Is it just me (and I'm aware that I'm in a minority here) but is anyone else not really all that psyched about Halo 3? I could take or leave the first two- there are better games out there- and there's no indication that 3 is going to offer a vastly different experience..

Not to be a killjoy or anything :)

"there's no indication that 3 is going to offer a vastly different experience"

It's a sequel, not a new series. Of course it's going to be similar. Why would they completely change a game that was already great? What sets it apart from the rest in the series is better graphics and sound, saved films, four player online co-op, forge, custom armors, etc.

Those who don't like Halo didn't play Halo: CE when it first came out, so they don't understand what the big deal is.

LOL...he could have set the buy it now price at $1000 and someone would have bought it. C'mon getting to play the most anticipated game of the year 2 weeks (count it, 14 days) early. If I had that kind of money laying around, I would SO have done it.

Im totally with you Rob, as far as Hype goes I was way more excited for Bioshock and am more excited for The orange Box and Mass Effect. I will buy Halo 3 and pray that it surpasses my expectations but I just can't see it happening. So no youre not alone on this, but we definately are in the minority.

Oh and to Zack, Rob never said he didnt like Halo, just that he wasnt that excited about its imminent release. I had both Halo titles on the day of release for the x-box and they really did set the standard back then. I just don't think Halo 3 is gonna be setting the standard this time, also its a great title among many others. H3 will sell a lot of 360's as the previous titles did for the original XBOX, but these new owners will go on to discover that there are a lot of essential titles to be purchased.

It seems that B1onict0wel (United States) joined eBay on 11th September and has 0 feedback. Possibly someone from Bungie that signed up to eBay to 'buy it back'?

Just a thought.

I know what you guys are talking about, Halo 3 hype is geared towards people who just aren't as with it as we may be. BioShock was and will be more exciting for me because well, it's something entirely new and fresh and I know Halo 3 will be great, no doubt, but new titles are just more exciting than the 3rd iteration of something we've been playing for over 5 years. I am more excited in playing Eternal Sonata than Halo 3 because I pretty much know what to expect with Halo, great graphics, similar but tweaked gameplay and a story that I might enjoy for the first time. The previous Halo stories have been just place-holders for a better story while you're kicking Covenant ass. They should have looked at BioShock to learn how to tell a story in FPS form.

Did anyone here about the dumb-ass who actually stole a copy from the manufacturing plant where they print the game?

He goes home and then he tries to play it ONLINE !

He was insta-band from xboxlive and apparently the police came to his house and confiscated the game from his possession since his personal address and info were registered with his Windows Live account...

He was given a message on Live saying "you will not be able to access Xbox live until 12/9/9999" LMFAO !!!!

This guy is a freakin idiot...

No offense guys but this guy HAD to be American... lol cuz here in Canada we'd kill you if you were that stupid... Well I would

Either way interesting stuff...

Thoughts?

@9 - "Umm, your points are not factual."

So you're saying that no game exists that is better than halo 1 or 2?

Sure, there are going to be changes and improvements- I'm not saying that this is just going to be "Halo 2 HD" or anything, but I didn't absolutely love the first two the way some people seem to, and therefore Halo 3 doesn't hold as much excitement for me- certainly not enough to justify all the hype.

Just my opinion though- I'm not saying that you're wrong to be excited about this game :)

Well, you can't please every one. Certainly there are obviously quite a lot of people who are every bit in line with the hype and thus it IS justified beyond those who don't care for the series. I'm not sure what else could be said about it.

"Those who don't like Halo didn't play Halo: CE when it first came out, so they don't understand what the big deal is."

I bought an original Xbox and had nothing but Halo and SSX: Tricky for a fair amount of time. Needless to say, I played a good bit of Halo. I agree with Rob; there's nothing exemplary about Halo: CE and certainly about Halo 2. I'm glad they've helped the Xbox take off, but so far they're repetitive, vanilla first-person shooters.

I just look at you and think you're soo stupid that I should Chuck Liddell your-ass before you say something else just as retarted lol

It's all in good fun dont' worry...

But seriously... If that American kid wasn't soo dumb... I could be playing Halo 3 right now...

I love Bungie don't get me wrong but security was meant to be broken... I didn't complain when I got to play Halo 2 early... Copied or original... It's Halo 3 !! and THAT guy fucked it up lol

I'm sure someone will steal another copy... lol

C'mon guys - this is arguably the biggest game release in history. Yes Bioshock and other games have raised the bar but NOTHING has embedded itself in gaming culture (at least in the US) like Halo. You have to acknowledge the stellar production, design and marketing that has gone into creating this juggernaut. Let's stop dissing Halo, mmmkay?

Sure 'Children of Men' is a better film than 'Attack of the Clones', but which will be remembered 20 years from now? ;-)

I'm sorry but I just heard A LOT of bullshit just fall out of your mouth and hit the ground...

Ok seriously... I'm gonna try to do this without offending you and your very undeducated Halo 3 knowledge...

Halo's storyline is one of the most EPIC in terms of actual size and numbers in Human History and fiction...

If you read just ONE of Eric Nylunds books you would take back that comment...

Or if you knew any of the biblical and historical references Bungie has purposely implemented into the game out of sheer genius...

Like Star Wars and LOTR there is SOOO much back story to the world of Halo that they can't even fit it all into the game...

Halo Sucked me in the first time I touched the controller and had to escape the pillar of autumn...

Halo 2 sucked me in as soon as those bastards started trying to attack my planet... The ending may have been a little to much of a cliffhanger but look at the chaos that insued...

People love Halo and it's story sooo much... That when they were witness to that ending they were pissed cuz they wanted more storyline... They wanted to Finish the Mutha Fuckin Fight !

Now they can...

You can NOT LIKE Halo if you want to.. go for it... But don't you EVER try to tell me that it is NOT a good game or that it's half-ass or that it isn't innovative or that Bioshock is better? WTF? are you on crack?

I'm about to give you a Bioshock up-side the head !!

lol Peace out...

If you wanna know those biblical ref I'm talking about e-mail me and I'll show you... They're NUTS !!

I agree with intRvenous. You can't stop Halo 3. Bioshock may have been a better game plot-wise, but nothing can stop the human-tank MC and the juggernaut-steamroller that is Halo 3.

Sorry if my previous comments offended anyone else. It was just a JOKE.

Viridium patch
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference.
Jump to: navigation, search
A viridium patch is a small device which could be attached to clothing. The patch emits a signal which could be detected up to two sectors away.

In 2293, after the attack on the IKS Kronos One, Captain James T. Kirk prepared to beam over, attempting to salvage the peace process that was being prepared between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets. Before doing so, Captain Spock attached the patch to the back of Kirk's uniform. After Kirk, along with Doctor Leonard McCoy, had been arrested, Spock and the crew of the USS Enterprise-A were able to rescue their friends from the Rura Penthe colony and save the peace process. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country).

About the kid that got banned for playing Halo 3 online:

Wasn't it actually the Epsilon build? And you HAD to be connected for it to work? I believe he posted a response to the whole situation explaining... If this is a new case of a retail Halo 3 then maybe he played it (not on live) and then connected to live afterward... that would be enough for Microsoft to catch him.

I know that WHEN (not if) Halo 3 hits the internets early that I am disconnecting my ethernet cable and changing the date on my 360. Even then, I'm probably not connecting to live until after a new version of the dvd firmware comes out.
