Ratchet will be a good game. It doesn't look like they plan on turning the franchise on its head like Nintendo is doing with Galaxy. But, if you liked the last Ratchet game, I don't see why you wouldn't like a new one with new levels, weapons, and better gfx.

If you are trolling a thread about a franchise that has always done well and has fans then you are retarded. While you are at it, why don't you go to the nearest Halo thread and try to convince the people there why they shouldn't have fun playing Halo 3 just because you don't.

I'll admit the PS3's "killer exclusives" have been pretty meh thus far, but that doesn't mean like every game absolutely sucks and will suck.

mfed, if you were responding to my post, then perhaps you should READ. You should read that I never specifically called you out. Therefore, I wasn't necessarily responding just to you.

In fact, I have went back and read your posts. They are all mindless troll-bait that I quit reading halfway through each time. So no, I actually wasn't responding to you but thanks for being conceded and self-centered enough to believe that I was.

Also, you have to be in some bizarre state of denial to not think that your posts imply that Ratchet basically sucks. Hell, you even posted, and I quote, "nobody under the age of 20 has a ps3 because its so expensive, and this is a stupid kids game." You called it a stupid kids game, then try to maintain that you only said it wouldn't sell well.

Are you a liar or a moron? I'll let you pick and give you the benefit of the doubt this time.

so you're saying this game will sell well and you can immagine the demographic of ps3 owners purchasing this game? i still cant see it. the demographic of ps2 owners was so huge that it could sell a million copies of any type of game. the ps3, however, will never amount to anything the ps2 was and this is why this game wont sell well. im up for an intelligent debate if you dont just start throwing around fanboy comments.

There isn't that many good PS3 games out yet. That's one of the reasons people would buy R&C. Will it sell as much as it's predecessors? No idea, but I think it won't be selling "crap" either.

Agreed. The first three Ratchet & Clank games managed to do a little over a million sales, with Deadlocked being a little under a million. And this was with a massive customer-base.

Subsequently there is a much smaller pool (among the existing PS3 owners) that will purchase Ratchet & Clank for the PS3. I don't see it doing huge numbers, although it'll have some new customers trying it simply because there is a dearth of titles for the PS3.

Keep in mind I'm not knocking Ratchet & Clank - I really enjoy the series, and it'll be the first retail game I purchase for my PS3.

I think you looking at this totally backwards. Just maybe its because of games that didn't fit the current demographic coming out on the PS1/PS2 that dragged them out of their poor starts. That was one of the main reasons the PS2 was so successful, its diverse catalogue.

It's all very nice to have killer aps that fit the current demographic (espesially for the current users) but they are not going to shift many consoles to new users with different tastes.

what i don't get is why do you keep posting the same message over and over and over again this is your third time saying the game won't sell well and why it won't, you're going to have to come up with some more points to argue on

"ahh, sony fanboys, gotta love em. if you read my post i said that the game will sell like crap because of the demographic of ps3 purchasers. next time stop sucking sony's c**k and read before you post your little fanboy comments."
Has it occured to you that alot of PS3 owners have kids? This is a game that I am going to get. And I will be able to play this game with my sons and we will all have fun.
sorry Mr. Patcher but I am going to disagree with you. I think that this game will sell very well especially because the PS3 library is still young and a game like this will immediately appeal to a wide demographic of PS3 owners.

LOL, WoW....this is just sad, for a console (ps3) nobody wants to have or care about..it sure gets alot of attention..I mean really, I just got back from another thread about uncharted getting a release date and half the comments were about how people still think the ps3 sucks and no reason to buy one...really?...you think the ps3 sucks, no reason to buy one and yet here you are on a ps3 game thread telling people this?.why?...trolling?..insecurity?..something?

and now here we are...ratchet and clank is a great and establish series for its now rolling onto its fifth game.....ohhh I get it, Nintendo are the only ones allowed to rehash games decades old over and over again for they are the only ones to make uber-awesome games...and who the fuck brought up Mario in a Ratchet and Clank thread anyway?......and just outright assuming Mario Galaxy is going to kick ratchet ass is ridiculous, yeah they are platformers but that is about all they have in common in terms of gameplay

the one thing they do have in common are sales...why do you think Mario gets rehashed in some many ways every year?...because it sales...why do you think Ratchet is getting its fifth game...because it sales...so to suggest one is going to sell while the other doesn't is just stupidity

@Fernando Rocker
we get it you hate the ps3, hell alot of people do, but to wait on joystiq, waiting for any piece of ps3 news to surface so that you can bash it, is just sad, I am not going to call you names or insult you for you are really sad....I don't like the wii, but to jump into its threads to bash it and the people who own it is just pathetic

I know I am going to get like half a heart or blurred out or flammed..or some shit.but hey I wouldn't expect anything less from joysitq

But sony fanboys I thought that it was WRONG for a system to have more than one game in a series!

You mean to tell me that umm *GASP* you guys actually approve of games that have THE SAME MAIN CHARACTER in the title of the game?

You mean to tell me that you won't freak out if you find that you enjoy THE FIFTH R&C game in the series even though its probably gonna be more of the same old thing?

Hypocrites to the end.

Then when Mario Galaxy comes out you'll be b*tching and screaming at Wii owners that Nintendo doesn't do anything original.

When Halo drops its holy bomb on Sept 25th you'll be whining to all of us how Halo isn't anything new and how the people enjoying it are just mindless drones.

The difference is that R&C stays pretty faithful to its roots and its audience. Ratchet and Clank is a genre of gaming. Mario is a character that is slapped onto practically any game to make it sell better. 90% of Mario games are not "Mario" games, but beautified, mediocre filler.

Now, I know nothing about this franchise because I've never played any of the games.

Does it have large explorable levels? When you see that huge city, can you actually freely mess around in it, find and\or do interesting stuff, or is it just a backdrop to an otherwise simple, restricted linear ride? If it's the former, that would be awesome.

closer to the latter. Its not a sandbox game. More of a platformer with awesome weaponry.

"Then when Mario Galaxy comes out you'll be b*tching and screaming at Wii owners that Nintendo doesn't do anything original."

The problem with Mario is all the different franchises he's attached to. Mario cart....etc...etc..

"When Halo drops its holy bomb on Sept 25th you'll be whining to all of us how Halo isn't anything new and how the people enjoying it are just mindless drones"

Halos biggest issue is similar to the last ratchet and clank (deadlocked). It seems like they concentrated a lot more on the multiplayer aspect and left the sp thin.

Granted, I haven't played Halo 3 yet (obviously), but I think it's a little early to suggest that the single-player in Halo 3 is thin. If anything it sounds it got a heckuva lot more development effort this time around, and the four-player cooperative is going to be a sweet addition to the campaign mode.

Well I meant more in the way that Super Mario 64 and Sunshine (and most likely Galaxy if it follows that trend, let's hope so) let you freely roam and climb around the levels doing crap with interesting level architecture and interactive objects where ever and whenever you wanted, while not really being sandbox games in the commonly accepted sense of the word. I feel there are way too few platformers like that.

Oh, and I think it's probably less confusing if you reply to other people on their actual posts instead of replying to them on mine. :P

Yes, that's one of the wonderful things about this franchise. Even in the very first one, the levels were huge. Once you kill off enemies in an area, they often don't appear again, so you can go around exploring, and this often opens up parts of the game you didn't know were there. Every world has it's own atmosphere.

Typically, this works well when you've gotten so far and can't beat a boss. This is where you just go back to whatever worlds you've visited, find more money, or battle more things thus acquiring more rpg-lite points and/or weapons, and when you come back you have a better chance at the boss, plus you've explored stuff that you didn't get to when you were running willy-nilly through each level.

This is one of the best-made and balanced franchises I've ever played, and there are Dads I know who have bought their ps3 just for this game.

Truthfully? I find the Ratchet & Clank series the most funny and entertaining franchise out right now. There's hardly any awkward "get the fucking joke already" moments other comedy games have. For the comedy alone, R&C is tops in my book, right next to Timesplitters.
