GameFly expanding to Tampa, Florida
It's like the GameFly Austin, Texas post all over again, except now it's Tampa, FL. Heck, we'll just copy the first part of the post from last time with a few small edits: A very observant reader noticed while searching job listing website Monster.com that GameFly, the online game rental service, is looking for a manager in the If our strange deja vu keeps up and this plays out exactly like last time GameFly will respond saying, "GameFly is definitely looking at a variety of locations for an additional distribution center, but we don't have anything firm to announce just yet." The simple fact of the matter is the Ops. Manager is one of the first pieces of the distribution center puzzle. We're not expecting the Austin or Tampa announcements for a little bit, but we're glad they're happening. For those keeping track, when Austin and Tampa open, GameFly will have four distribution points in the US. We're also happy to report the East Coast center has cut down our turnaround to a week.

Its great GameFly is expanding. Its a great service and it saves a hell of a lot of money. I was about to unsubscribe to GameFly due to the horrible mailing times (I live in PA), and the fact my mail got lost so much, but then they just announced their second warehouse, one in Pittsburgh. From then on, I've been enjoying fast service, and tons of games.

Gamefly needs a map to realize that they have coasts covered. They need one in the Midwest.

I live in Chicago, tried them a 2nd time when they opened a d.c. in PA and just canceled again.
Sick of waiting 8-10 days for a game and that's not even getting into the no shows.
Hollywood has unlimited game rentals for $19.99 a month now. Instant gratification wins over selection this time.

100% correct. It takes about 3 or 4 days for me to get games in south Texas. Not too bad, but still it can take up to a week to get games, rare, but still kinda annoying.. It is a big money saver though.

As someone that lives in Florida, I say, "yes."

I wish they would hurry up and open the Austin, TX one!!!

Thank god. Hopefully being close to Tampa will get me games in like...a day. But then again it probably won't serve Florida...how lame would that be?

Being that I am under an hour north of Tampa, this might encourage me to re-sign up for GameFly again.

This one might actually help me, maybe. I live in Tennessee. When they switched me from Callie to Pittsburgh, it actually ADDED a day or two each direction. Not to mention the fact that I've had a grand total of two fast returns since the switch. I'd be happy just to have my old ship times back.

Who cares how many new distribution centers they have? I just want more games! Nothing is ever available, gah!
Odog4ever @ Sep 13th 2007 1:46PM
I have to agree with Brad. Most of the games on my queue are low to medium availability. I've had King Kong, Blazing Angels, and Rainbow Six (All for Xbox )360) in my queue for 3 months! These are old games! They need to increase their inventory, especially on popular games.
And if the game came out in the last 2 months forget about it! Unless you had you game arrive at the distribution center the day the game came out it not gonna happen. If you've recieved Bioshock, Stranglehold, or Overloard, congradulations on winning the Gamefly lottery (And please return those game promptly :)

It's nice to hear that they are expanding. The reason I dropped them is because of slow turnaround on games in and out. If they get as fast my netflix one day to get there, one day to process, one day to send back then i'll resubscribe. When i did have them i did like how they cover the portable systems.

This is great news gamefly is working on 2 more centers. Gamefly is really stepping it up recently. Turnaround times have really improved since the Pittsburg distribution center opened. I've been getting games in 2-3 days since it opened in NY.
As far as games being available, the trick is to just put it in your queue, game availability is constantly changing and you'll most likely get the game shipped out within a couple days. I did this for Bioshock & Darkness both very popular, and got them not too long after release.
If you're having a problem with shipping, do something about it! I fount the link to report to: https://www.gamefly.com/member/problemreport.asp?

I live in Florida and just received the following notice from Gamefly:
"Starting this week, you may notice that the return address on your GameFly mailer will be Tampa, FL. We're pleased to open this new Tampa Shipping Center as part of our continued effort to improve mailing times for GameFly members across the entire United States."
I can't wait!
