Okay, before you lolz out loud at people willing to spend $399 on a plastic Guitar Hero controller painted with some KISS artwork, read the fine print: it's actually a real guitar that's been modded to have the GH fret buttons and strum bar put in. Who's laughing now, eh?
Well, we would be, if this wasn't so freakin' cool. Gamespot has the details on this axe, which is currently only for the PlayStation 2. The question remains though: Can you re-string this sucker and jam out for reals? No one knows. Maybe that's just too much rockination for one instrument to bear. Come on, it already has Gene Simmons' tongue on it, what more could you ask for?

Dang PK Fire is ineffective since it travels a short distance and then lays the burn. Having been just one comment away negates its effect and targeting takes away effect as well.

They're just sell outs. They had some good music but they just sold out to damn near anything that would shove a dollar bill in their pants.

Hello!
Kiss was never a non-commercial band. They still arent, as you can see.

I don't think plastic Guitar Hero guitars hold "rockination" cred.

Is that a humbucker I see there on the bridge? Looks like you might really be able to play this thing, but I see there's still some frets missing where the fret buttons are. And only 22 frets? You can't shred with just 22 frets! ;)

So does this mean that whomever buys this guitar has immunity to the phrase, "Go play a real guitar!" or does it mean that real guitarists will pick on that person more?

well from the look of it (and assuming they haven't gutted the inside components, although they probably would have to get the GH hardware in) you probably could restring and it play it, but you'd only be able to play from the 9th fret down and tuning it might be a problem

Did they...
Did they just say lolz out loud?
Which, with lolz being from th4e acronym for "laugh out loud", means they said we would laugh out loud out loud?
I think joystiq has lost the point of lolz. The reason it was born was so we don't have to type laugh out loud. If you start writing lolz out loud, you have pretty much completely destroyed any purpose for that particular slang. You have now saved nearly zero time and effort, and have possibly confused any portion of your readership who don't know that lolz means.

Why would you want to play a really cheap guitar? 399$ is expensive for a "Guitar Hero" guitar but it is really cheap for a real guitar considering that the guitar alone must be cheaper. And by the way to play it you would have to remove those fret buttons because they will get in the way of the strings (but then why will you buy a modified guitar and modify it back to a normal guitar...).
Final comment, great collector item for Kiss fans/Guitar hero fan and nice to have if you would like to have a normal size/weight of a guitar... Other than that, don't expect to be able to play guitar and guitar hero at once with that guitar.

Ghaleon - Congrats man, you are that guy. You know, that guy that says play the real guitar in every thread on GH. Wow, you sure put everyone in their place. You know what, why don't you give us a few days to organize a parade for you, as your wit has enlightened so many today.

You could buy a GH controller and a pretty decent real guitar for $399. I've owned several perfectly usable and giggable sub-$400 guitars.
