The RRoD T-shirt
Having experienced another Red Ring of Death on staff recently (this time it was McElroy's Xbox 360, Orland was two weeks ago), we were quite amused by SplitReason's T-shirt and their tip of the hat to 2001: A Space Odyssey's HAL. Yes, we can't help but wonder what the Xbox 360 would say once it goes RRoD if it had the capability to speak.
Now before you go all crazy that SplitReason is all anti-Microsoft, they're also responsible for the "Achievement Locked" women's underwear (We're still desperately waiting for the men's version of those). They also just came out with the mana mug you drink out of -- something WoW players are sure to appreciate. We are amused.
Skip ahead to the 7:00 mark (3:38 on the countdown setting) if you've never seen the iconic moment from 2001 involving HAL's madness

Will I dream David?
samfish @ Sep 12th 2007 9:52PM
Fucking awesome.
Joshua @ Sep 12th 2007 10:00PM
Seriously, that's genius. It's crazy that no one thought of it (or at least created anything based on it) before now, though. >
Obie @ Sep 12th 2007 11:42PM
Yes, brilliant!
Adam @ Sep 12th 2007 9:54PM
Must...get...shirt...
rom @ Sep 12th 2007 9:55PM
I love that shirt. hahaha...
Oh by the way did McElroy's 360 have the heatsink inside? I'm curious as to whether or not those heatsinks fix it or not.
rask @ Sep 12th 2007 9:59PM
I own a 360, love the platform and have never had the RRoD in 18 months. That being said, I must get that shirt!
True comedy.
Arturo @ Sep 12th 2007 9:59PM
Haha I want that too.
steve Johnson @ Sep 12th 2007 10:03PM
BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHA!!! Freakin' AWESOME!!!
hvnlysoldr (NDF - Wind Ring) @ Sep 12th 2007 10:05PM
I might have seen it, as well as Dune, when I was young and my dad made me watch lots of movies with him but this one I have no recollection. I only remember the monolith and climax since they've been in pop culture enough.
Cellien @ Sep 12th 2007 10:11PM
Oh gawd... just what all the PS3 fanboys needed. Something to spend their money on since there are no good games to buy. :) Ouch...truth hurts.
jimy @ Sep 12th 2007 10:17PM
oh no he di'int
Isak? @ Sep 12th 2007 10:18PM

Myke @ Sep 12th 2007 10:37PM
Nice 1! Go back to playing Viva Pinta before your console explodes.... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Matt B (SDF - White Gold Ring) @ Sep 12th 2007 11:35PM
My money is on Heavenly sword tomorrow. Nice try though.
Gil @ Sep 13th 2007 12:07AM
Blowing $60 on a 7 hour GoW rip-off isn't really something to brag about..
Matt B (SDF - White Gold Ring) @ Sep 13th 2007 8:57AM
And how would you know? Regurgitating reviews that suit your theory?
Gil @ Sep 13th 2007 3:05PM
Soo are you calling people who've actually played the game liars? They've played through it, they say it's short, 7-8 hours at best and this isn't just reviews, it's from people on message boards as well.. I'm sayin spending $60 on a 7 hour game isn't something to brag about. Now had you said "My rental money is on Heavenly Sword tomorrow, Nice try though" I would have been like "No doubt son, no doubt"
hotnutz @ Sep 13th 2007 10:40PM
Gil, you xbot... I bet you could turn any story into a anti-PS3 story. I hope you have other skills in life though from the way you write, I suspect we've seen the best you have to offer.
Face it, no matter what Matt would have written, you would have been all over him like a fat kid on a smartie. Just buy the damn t-shirt, shut your yap and stay on topic.
phattie @ Sep 12th 2007 10:20PM
MS should have Trademarked the RRoD... they would be raking in the cash right now with merchandising and movie rights... and may have had a chance for profitability for the first time.
Yoshi Likes Boys @ Sep 12th 2007 10:24PM
This is the sound of me buying this shirt. Completely brilliant.
Patrick @ Sep 12th 2007 10:24PM
Ahh!! Do want!!
Daiiiiiissssssyyyy
Colin @ Sep 12th 2007 10:25PM
I just want an achievement unlocked t-shirt. Then I'll be happy.
Dylan @ Sep 12th 2007 10:50PM
That shirt is hilarious, but it puts the fear in me that my elite will soon go belly up...
I hope when it does I am playing guitar hero so my friends will ask if my playing sucked the power out of my xbox, and I can say, no, I blew the motherboards mind...
Cellien @ Sep 12th 2007 11:00PM
^ Hey.. I'd play Viva over all the flops on PS3 anyday :)
Crazd @ Sep 12th 2007 11:09PM
As much as I love my 360, I can't help but think that this is freaking amazing. Well done.
ECUnlimited @ Sep 12th 2007 11:30PM
Even though I love my 360, I will still be buying this shirt. Its just too awesome to pass up
Matt B (SDF - White Gold Ring) @ Sep 12th 2007 11:42PM
The fact that people have accepted that their machines are failing and laughing about it...even have a freeking T-shirt for it.... you people are brainwashed!!!!!
"Focus on the repair".... Nice Jedi mind trick. Did you fall for it?
Grindstone @ Sep 12th 2007 11:55PM
What? You all did it with the PS2, cut us some slack here.
Love the shirt.
gullum @ Sep 13th 2007 9:36AM
I know it's pretty bad. Almost like they say "thank you sir, may I have another" after they get it. Wierd.
At least with teh PS2, the problem was rectified.
Cool t-shirt though. RRoD should be a selling point by now. It's like the lottery!
Zaphod Beeblebrox @ Sep 13th 2007 11:33AM
Dont forget some of them buy backup systems so that if 1 is in the shop they still have 1 to play. Which system is more expensive then? Weak minded Banta Poodoo they are. Hhmmmh?
Cellien @ Sep 13th 2007 12:01AM
Please.. My 360 broke once (not RRoD) and they fixed it haven't had a problem in almost a year now and got a free 3 year warranty to boot. Much better than what I can say about most PS2 owners that had a console break on them and had to buy new ones.. again, and again and yet still come back for more Sony incompetence (see PS3's false promises) That's brainwashed bro.
misterhearn @ Sep 13th 2007 12:13AM
Well speaking as someone whom literally just finished reassembling his 360 after the infamous F*ck You! (Red Ring of Death) this shirt is genius! I literally just minutes ago finished repairing my system. My warranty has been voided months and months ago, so I dont want to hear about the three year warranty I already know about it.
It be even funnier if they had a picture of a brick with three red lights on. Hell If joystiq will sponsor me I'll get a red ring of death tattoo but it will cost you! LOL I need all three systems plus an unhealthy surplus of games for each.
Good luck to everyone with 360s under warranty you can always call 1800-INDIA aka 1800-4 My XBOX and get some help, I hear the wait is about 6-8 weeks minimum to get your 360 back, hell I want a free zune too!
Ironically I love my 360 and think its the best but its only so much abuse a man can take. I'm enjoying Bioshock and looking foward to Halo 3 and have been gloating that Ninja Gaiden 2 is on lock, but damn give me a break! I even own the add on so you're F'n with my HD DVD collection as well. I think I'll photoshop a picture of Bill Gates with red rings in his glasses lenses or should I do a Peter Moore with red rings in his eyes? God I miss that dude.
BPM @ Sep 13th 2007 12:25AM
Hot damn! I gotta get that shirt!
Dyabolik @ Sep 13th 2007 3:21AM
Thats fucking Brilliant
ThornedVenom @ Sep 13th 2007 4:16AM
I'd buy that... and those panties. XD
ALH @ Sep 13th 2007 6:32AM
amazing. the minute i get some cash that thing is going in my wardrobe.
HineyWipe @ Sep 13th 2007 8:13AM
"Daisey.......dayyyyyzeeeeee..."
PS. Best Buy ext warranty blows. Friend is now on +3weeks since RRoD and no Gift card...H3 T-12 days.
Awesome Stuff @ Sep 13th 2007 1:39PM
That 'Daisy' yell HAS to come from the movie, am I right?.. Its the only yell that comes to mind..
Hollywood Ron @ Sep 13th 2007 8:45AM
So instead of singing, it offers to play Karaoke Revolution with you, right?
Kizzle @ Sep 13th 2007 9:18AM
The text ruins it. The RRoD by itself I would buy.
megaStryke @ Sep 13th 2007 9:35AM
You uncultured swine. Go watch a certain classic movie.
Brian @ Sep 13th 2007 11:54AM
I need this shirt so I can properly mourn while I'm forced to play with...my....wii? No no wait, it's not like that.
Raikage (NDF - PK THUNDER RING) @ Sep 13th 2007 1:45PM
I love these T-Shirts, I thought of one back in the Xbox era when "Normal Mapping" was the thing. I thought why not put "I (Heart) Normal Mapping" or "I have X ammount of textures, can you feel them?" or "Sorry, I'm only running at 720p today" just weird stuff like that.
Jimi B @ Sep 28th 2007 10:08AM
When I designed this shirt I had no idea it would be so popular. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who voted to get it made, and to split reason for running with it!
I didn't know Joystiq had mentioned it until someone e-mailed me today.
massacreman @ Nov 15th 2007 6:02PM
i fink when they release the halo movie it should freeze half way nd go blank then show the rrod, b fkin hilarious
