Yakuza 3 revealed for PlayStation 3
Though the report in the latest issue of Famitsu (which brought us this Eternal Sonata exclusivity nugget as well) doesn't specifically mention the Xbox 360, and even though IGN claims that Yakuza 3 will be a PS3 exclusive, we're not quite ready to call it an exclusive just yet.
Regardless of its status on that other console or its availability in a place that isn't Japan, Famitsu reveals that Yakuza 3 is indeed coming to the PlayStation 3 in Japan in the spring of 2008. And while they were at it, they thought you might be interested in knowing that it no longer takes place in the modern day, but rather in 1605 Edo period Japan. Don't live in Japan or own a PlayStation 3 but really want to play Yakuza 3? Don't know what to tell ya bub, we just work here.

What the hell is Sony trying to make me mad...I like Sony but damn Yakuza is a terrible series that needs to be put to rest...
sheppy2.0 @ Sep 12th 2007 9:59PM
Localization FTL. The Japanese original was much better. And it's actually a very popular series in Japan. Keep in mind, Yakuza 2 stole Blue Dragon's thunder.
Joshua @ Sep 12th 2007 10:39PM
Wait, wait. What changed? I was thinking about buying Yakuza...But why is it worse than Ryuu ga Gotoku?
sheppy2.0 @ Sep 13th 2007 8:10AM
I'd say it all comes down to translation and voice acting. They really screwed up the localization of Yakuza. As far as I know, nothing else changed. But the voices, oh god!
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Sep 12th 2007 9:30PM
Wait a sec there's gonna be a Yakuza 3. When was Yakuza 2 released!? WTF?
Ken Seang @ Sep 12th 2007 11:26PM
Exactly....
ukickmydog (NDF - Heart Ring) @ Sep 12th 2007 9:41PM

Yakuza 3 not mentioned for the 360???
YES!!!
^Sarcasm...
el tonot @ Sep 12th 2007 9:47PM
Give it about six months!!!
Shockgamer @ Sep 12th 2007 9:53PM
IIRC, Yakuza's sales in the US were terrible. Sega has no reason to bring Yakuza 2 stateside, let alone release Yakuza 3 for the American friendly 360.
mccomber @ Sep 12th 2007 9:55PM
I would love to hear the reactions if this was coming out as a 360 exclusive. Somehow I doubt that many of you would be complaining about it...
Wilhelm @ Sep 12th 2007 10:57PM
I wouldn't really care, considering I honestly would probably never even try it, let alone buy it.
JJ @ Sep 12th 2007 10:10PM
i'm actually looking forward to this game (and praying both it and 2 get released stateside). I actually loved the first yakuza.
samfish @ Sep 12th 2007 10:25PM
Well, it's not Shenmue 3, but it's something.
Next announce Shenmue Wii, Sega. You know it makes sense.
Ska Oreo @ Sep 12th 2007 11:07PM
sigh,
Well at least they're trying.

Well you could tell us that PS3 games arent Region Locked unlike those "Other" Consoles, so PS3 owners can import any JP game they want and play them when they want. (though some stuff is hard if you dont know the language)

Yeah, but are Blu-Ray movies region-free -Like HD-DVD??
"what is uh.......-NO."
"Correct!"
Neptune @ Sep 13th 2007 4:18AM
And here I thought Yakuza 3 was a game :)
..Anyways regional restrictions are lame and from my point of view useless. HD-DVD does seem better in that sense.
ssuk @ Sep 13th 2007 5:51AM
Regional lock outs have done nothing but plauge the home movie and video game industry for years. It's a useless mechanic which just limits the market a game or movie can reach out to, which is stupid if a game remains one region only and within a year that region coding has been hard-modded around and most likely soft-modded as well.
Marty @ Sep 13th 2007 11:04AM
So I'm taking bets on how long it'll be before a delay on this game is announced... when do you guys think it'll be?
Christopher Grant @ Sep 13th 2007 11:25AM
We can turn the other cheek. :D
HaleysComet @ Sep 13th 2007 12:45PM
I've never even heard of this game....
Should I care or be jealous that sony has this title?
