A lament for Shadowrun.

I have not the heart to tell you. For me the grief is still too near.

Is it all employees? The post from the guy at the company said only half of them were being absorbed by MGS, I think.

Damn!
Ive been playing games by FASA since the mid 80's! Since before many of you reading this were even born. This is the end of a truly great game maker. Gone to be with TSR now.

"...so it wouldn't affect Shadowrun's release or the perception of the game."

Seeing as it didn't sell great and it received very average reviews, surely they could've gained a few sympathy sales by announcing this earlier? ;)

wasn't day 1 studios in close association with fasa during the mechassault days?

is there any collateral damage there? I know Day 1 is working on Fracture which is a LucasArts partnership, so maybe they've already dissolved their ties to FASA?

RIP FASA

MechWarrior was actually developed and published by Activision. FASA did create the MechWarrior "world"

For some reason this doesn't come as a surprise...oh right because a disgruntled employee posted about it in their forums during the Beta.

Despite lackluster reviews for Shadowrun, I really like the game and I have always been hopeful for downloadable content. But with the news of Fasa Studio closing the likelihood of this happening is almost non-existent. Therefore, I have made a petition to Microsoft Game Studio to make DLC for Shadowrun a reality.

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/SRDLC/petition.html

Anything you can do to support this effort would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

@ 18 I signed the petition.

Anyone remember a little game called Unreal Tournament (99)? It only had online gameplay (or matches similar to SR), and if I recall it is my most played game today. SR is very similar in that the gameplay is fun and well done. Graphically there could have been some better work to be done here and there but already it is becoming my most 360 game (up there with GoW and Crackdown).

I am working through the achievements as they are all fun and feel doable (other than the silly godlike which is for boosters or lucky people catching any entire team lagging at beginning of a map). While happy with the current maps I wish there were a few more (like the powerplant one) to play. Or a map editor would be nice (but never come)!
