Don't get your hopes up about seeing Master Chief emerge unscathed. Stremme is a scab.

NASCAR sucks, that's public knowledge.
How about you add the Halo tie ins after you've added, oh I don't know, something interesting to watch?
And actual physical competition worthy of the deisgnation "sport" would be nice, too, but let's take it one step at a time.

Yup.
I really want to know what the attraction is, but I'm also an A-Hole, so that was probably my only option for getting to the bottom of this little pastime.
My theory? Grass just doesn't grow (so you can't watch it do so) in parts of the country where Nascar is really popular.

Too bad they couldn't find a better driver/team to partner with. I agree with others here, it's not likely this car will be up front very much to get much TV exposure... I was thinking a partnership with the #5 (Kelloggs, to get the kiddie's more hyped on the game) or the #8 (Budweiser... I'm sure lots of beer will be consumed playing Halo3) would have been better matches, and those cars are more likely to be up front..... but I'm sure would have cost more $$$.

No I don't!
For the record, Madden 08 is a sport, not Halo 3, idiot.
And they were YOUR mommy's undies, that's got to count for something.

Well, Edward, the appeal is this: Teams of mechanics build cars. Fast ones. They hire really good, talented people to take the wheel. Then, at top speeds around 200 mph, they drive in OVALS and sometimes, ok, like twice a season, they drive on "road" courses (These are more like what you might find in your copy of Forza). The winner is rewarded with gold and frankensense. And as far as the "physical" side of this sport: wheelmen, or "drivers", must drive a really hot car at high speeds in traffic for the better part of a day. I can hardly stand to drive for twenty minutes going 70 on the freeway in tough traffic, with air conditioning. For example: in a race earlier this year, the #70 car's A/C goes out on lap 5 of a 500 lap race. Temperature gets up to a minimum of 120 degrees in the car. So yeah, it's physical.

Hmm.
Yup, it's official, I completely do not understand the draw.
Thanks for the clarification though. I can now officially mark this off my "things to do before the man has me assassinated" list.

I'm vaguely disappointed in this tie-in as well. Doesn't seem to be the right way to reach a broader audience. Just doesn't tie-in well with traditional motorsports.

Buy more teh haloz!
And quit hatin on nascar. I don't like it either, but some (obviously a lot) of people like it otherwise it wouldn't be on TV at all.
G'day.

I love NASCAR and Halo! I think the sponsorship is a great idea.

@15, Since when does nascar have A/C? I am in the nextel garage on a regular basis and they have a fresh air system that is directed to the driver by a vent located on the A-pillar. Stremme has been running good at times this year and has actually kept the car in one piece alot this year. @17, Nascar has a broader audience than alot of other sports series. Most tracks have over 100,000 seats and richmond last week sold out for the 5th consecutive year. The car is a rolling billboard for advertisers that spend on average $20 - $30 million a year to be on a car in Nascar.

You know what your all right NASCAR is NOT a sport... its a way of life. And i agree with everyone else when they say they should have picked a different driver because Stremme does suck at racing.
