We mentioned yesterday we wouldn't be surprised if Halo 3 ad "Museum" stirred up some controversy, but the follow-up ad for the FPS is genuinely offensive. No, it's not in a "trying to make you feel sad for a man in a fake war" way, it's more like a "creepy Being John Malkovich vibe" way.
Listen, maybe this will be enough to get you totally pumped for Sept. 25, but, we like to play video games so we can avoid thinking about unpleasant things like a world of living dolls that sporadically carry grenades. Maybe that's just us though.
[Thanks, Rob]
Oh, and lest we forget:

I knew it was going to happen but I didn't expected spoilers so early.I mean this is probably the critical moment of the fight and the Magazine Ad only confirms it.
Thanks for the Link :D

Thought the Museum ad was a good idea but poorly executed, but this one... wow, totally awesome!!

Wow the first time I see a spoiler from an official Source,I know there is nothing better than announcing a game with a fragment of the most critical moment in the story line but C'mon,I hope this is the last Believe Trailer before the launch.
Man I feel so hyped about H3 right now.

How do you know that it's a 'critical moment'? This could come from the first chapter of the game. Besides, if you haven't noticed, there are thousands of brutes still alive and unless that plasma grenade has been souped up to nuclear capabilities, I doubt that the Chief has 'finished the fight'.

According to the Museum ad and other sites probably this is the part when MC dies.
Maybe if he kills the leader the other brutes are going to be WTF? so the UN soldiers can take them.
Maybe this is what happens,MC goes all kamikaze on the Brute leader, the brutes go all "OMGWTFBQQsauce!" and then the UN soldiers seeing MC explode take on the brutes.Maybe is an iconic moment.

From Kotaku:
"I asked Frankie about the concept, if they were worried about the reaction it would get from fans of the game. If people might think the ads are spoilers. He said that the ads were created by a marketing team who had no idea how the game ends and that it is not meant to be part of the game's cannon. Instead the ads, specifically that 1200-square-foot diorama created for them, is meant to be a generic representation of a series of battles, perhaps a level's worth in Halo 3."

... so it doesn't look to be that much of a 'SPOILER'.

So? It isn't EXACTLY what happens - but we know Master Chief is going to die. They've been hinting at it for several months now.
It isn't the event - it's the TONE.

... the bottom line is we won't know until the 25th. Bungie has always been tight-lipped about the Halo story and I wouldn't jump to any conclusion just yet. Master Chief could die but at this point in time it's just as likely that he couldn't.

How soon before all the Halo 3 "Believe" ads are linked together and someone sets it to "Mad World"?
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World

MAD WORLD,Man I love that ad,I have it everywhere from X360 to my PSP.
Seriously those "Believe" ads are pretty cool but if nothing of that happens in Halo 3 it would be very disappointing.

And what exactly was offensive about that amazing ad?
Posted: Sep 13th 2007 3:22PM (Unverified) said
Like they said, just a generic representation of a battle in Halo, not linked to events in Halo 3.
Posted: Sep 13th 2007 3:49PM (Unverified) said
It got taken down. What was the name of it so I can look it up?
Posted: Sep 13th 2007 7:07PM (Unverified) said
I guess it's officially not a spoiler, but still, I'd actually figured it was "between time", since Halo3 (*AFAIK) doesn't start right after Halo2.

I'd be against MC dying in the end, with all the stuff we've been through.....It would be a sad day. Nigh, it could stil be very possible, however
You have no fucking proof he's going to die for sure so stop saying stupid shit like "We know he's going to die" because we dont and wont til we play the game dumbass.
Although I'd hate it, it would certainly be an amazing way for MC to go out... and that's the only reason why they would do such a thing.

Only a dolt would see this or the Believe/Museum add as offensive. That and trouble makers who noticed some other dolt was taking offense.
How lame is it when an advert for a game is so good that attention getters feel compeled to dis it?
