ESRB shows Eternal Sonata on PS3 ... again

Go make yourself some popcorn and watch the madness as Namco Bandai just can't put the information regarding the PS3 version of Eternal Sonata back in the bottle. We've found it strange that Eternal Sonata was completely missing from the ESRB site for a while now, despite the Xbox 360 version being rated T back in April and scheduled to release next week, but the listing magically reappeared today with the PS3 still listed as a platform. Just to be clear, the ESRB lists their information directly from the publisher.

Namco Bandai continues to list Eternal Sonata as strictly for the Xbox 360, but Famitsu reported otherwise and says the PS3 version of Eternal Sonata will be out in Japan next spring. A few days ago even Namco Bandai's own site listed Eternal Sonata for the PS3 before they decided to pull the information hours later. We really have no idea why Namco Bandai is sitting on this info, but the fact that they won't acknowledge it at this point is laughable. Namco Bandai can't seem to craft a proper message on Beautiful Katamari either.

Well, this kind of game should be on PS3 as well. I think Namco, like other devs, would benefit most on multi-platform this gen. Only reason I like to see games exclusive is for the "underdog" MS to dethrone Sony.. but I think Nintendo is already doing that anyhow... so multiplatform FTW!

This is one game that I really wanted for the longest time, but now I don't think I'm getting it. The reviews aren't as good as I thought they'd be. And with so many titles coming out from now till Christmas I find it hard to justify buying this game. Damn it, this $10 increase really starts to add up when you have so many games on your to buy list, doesn't it?

this got a 8.3 from ign so i might pick it up in the used bin along with blue dragon, the battles did get kind of boring after a while in eternal sonata, the game itself is beautiful though

Please stop changing the story and let us all know the truth already.
You're cancelling the PS3/360 versions of Eternal Sonata and Beautiful Katamari and are porting them to Nintendo DS.

I just put it in the camp of "360 games that ps3 gets late (with possible worse framerate and graphics)", hell, it's nothing new.

I don't feel as bad anymore.. when the ps3 launched though people were paying full price for worse versions on the ps3 while xbox had them half price. that is ouch.

makes me cringe anytime someone buys a ps3 and all they get is madden..so I ask if they are looking forward to anything in particular for the ps3 and they say 'nope'.. then ask why they bought it 'because its sony dude hhuhuhuh' best waste of money evar!

oh, and as far as I knew, there was some new stuff, like new playable characters, and new customes...believe me, that is worth a LOT in the japanese market...

hmm, maybe like, Oblivion? Oh, like rainbow six and graw. I'm going to hand feed you all the answers you should be smart enough to realize which games were on 360 months earlier.
and what? free stuff on ps3 that we pay for? you mean like Xbox live? one of the best features on 360 bar none, that totally eclipses everything ps3's online has to offer? I have yet to meet ANYONE including myself that regrets paying per year for it - it's a fantastic service and I have to assume you have not used it.

Uh, not really. Madden is on both consoles, Halo is exclusive to 360. Did you not realize this? Just to clarify.. ps3 costs on average around 200$ more than a 360, and if the only game they are truly interested in is madden, they could have saved themselves money by purchasing that and a 360 instead of being an ignorant victim to branding. (not to mention the fact that pretty much everyone agrees that they look and run better on 360... hi 60fps!)

and just fyi - I am not a fanboy though I may sound like one. I'm a fan of games, pure and simple. I'm looking forward to playing Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Killzone, and more, and will be picking up resistance and heavenly sword when the price of ps3 is right, but currently it just doesn't seem worth the price - of COURSE this is an opinionated thing, and if you like blu ray hell yes it's a great value.

but in terms of sheer games 360 hands down is the top current gen console(ATM), and it IS very disappointing to see lots of multi platform games take the backseat for the ps3.

I'm guessing by your comment that you are somehow in a position to sell games to consumers. And the way you just bounced off your opinion to consumers in your scenario puts me in a position to officially say this.

Seriously, I am getting so tired of everytime I go into a game store nowadays, I either get to sit through console bashing from the register biscuits or I get to hear about how X version is much better than B version when the jackass making the claim doesn't even know the difference between .rgb textures and .dds and how they effect engine performance. Fact of the matter is, the same jackoffs that were preaching GOW to me last year with it's steady 24fps are the same morons trying to tell me Madden is 100 times better on 360 this year just because 30fps is too slow to consider a game playable.

Hell, one store lost a $300 preorder sale from me just because I went in wanting to preorder Halo 3 for 360 and Rock Band for PS3. To which he gave me all sorts of reasons why it will be much better on 360 compared to PS3 and I should really preorder it for that system. I told him to cancel my preorders and informed him I didn't want his opinion, I wanted him to press buttons on the machine. I don't care if it's his favored system or what, the consumer is the one who is right and the moment you question the consumer, you should lose the sale.

Where I work in IT is right across the street form a Mall. I eat there a lot on my lunch breaks and always stop in EB Games on my way back to work... even if there is nothing new in there. I have bought 6 PS3 games in the past 3 months. I talk to the guys a little and they all have a 360 and 2 of them have a wii, none have a PS3. When I picked up Heavenly Sword(and a Ratchet&Clank:ToD demo disk...woot!) yesterday, one of the guys said to me, "Dude, you buy a lot of PS3 games." Like he was surprised or something. I said,"I know, I read a lot that there aren't any games for it." Smiled and left.

Is it possible -- and I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out -- that the online listings for these games are handled by a completely different group of people who are probably low-level coders or even interns, and that neither Namco nor the ESRB are trying to send you secret coded messages?
