Japanese Beautiful Katamari trailer and achievements too
19
We've been feeling colorful, Japanese and quirky lately so we figured we'd look up some Beautiful Katamari news and good thing for us, there is news to be had. Recently released is a brand new Japanese Beautiful Katamari trailer (viewable above) that was released for TGS and it features some gameplay, trippy visuals and a little Japanese boy narrating the action. Actually, we aren't sure what the boy is talking about and it's kind of creepy, but a good kind of creepy.
Also, Xbox360Achievements.org posted a complete list of achievements for the game and oddly enough they add up to a 1250 Gamerscore. Now, we aren't being naggy, but shouldn't the retail game's Gamerscore be capped at 1000 with an extra 250 possible via downloadable content? Unless they're including extra content in the retail version, but then again that doesn't make sense. Ah heck, it's 1250 and we don't know why. That's about it for Beautiful Katamari news, now your day will be 219% happier.

I really don't see how this game is fun at all. Someone enlighten me. And yes, I played the demo.

The extra 250 is from the 3 achievements that say 'download stages....' and they add up to 250 gamerscore.
My guess is that those are the downloadable content ones.

There's not much to enlighten about. You're either going to like it or you won't.
As someone who has owned the other games, however, I can assure you that the demo is far too short to get a good idea of the game. I don't even have fun with it lol

@Phil
Honestly? If your problems are control, it plays much better on the symmetrical PS2 controller than it does on the 360. I'd go back and pick up the Original Katamari Damacy or We Heart Katamari on the PS2 if that's the case.
If your problem is you don't like the concept or the art style, I'm not sure what to tell you, other than that you'll probably be too busy playing Halo 3 to notice this game's release.
I grew up playing Super Mario Bros and the like, so brightly colored and far-out games tickle that special part of my mind in ways that Generic WW2 Shooter 6 cannot.
I'm a little disappointed that the MSRP on this particular version of Katamari is so high, though- especially considering that they've already got DLC.

As a katamari fan, I highly anticipate picking this title up! Kinda wish it were released earlier and not competing with halo 3, assassins creed...etc.
As for the control schemes...honestly it's not that much different on the 360 than it was on the ps2. Symmetry is a "nonfactor" imo. been playing the demo and I don't have any problems with controls.

Yuccadude is right. There are 3 achievements that tell you to download something and they add up to 250 points.

The voice of the kid doing the narration sounds like the kid from The Grudge... pre-grudge of course

Well if you would follow 360 news, you would know that M$ DOES block foreign IPs to prevent downloading. So creating a silver account for the US does NOTHING. You really can only download from your language market! No chance, also proxying doesnt help.

Hey janus, that's retaliation from MS for so many of you Europeans downloading the American Call of Duty 4 beta.

You can get the demo in the UK - it was released with OXM magazine. I got mine on my US Silver account.
This game looks fun and brill - the cheezy graphics and stupid nature of the game really appeal to me, rather than the blood and gore of an GoW, or trying to negotiate tactics on R6Vegas. This is purely rolling over stuff for the hell of it.
Also, Cod 4 Beta is now available in UK. Has been a week.

As much as I loved this series on the ps2, and the surprisingly good psp showing, the demo didn't help to change my fears that it would be even more of the same... and as much as I enjoyed it the first time around, it definitely lost some of it's fun with each iteration. I hope the people who may not have ever played it before will give it a go on the 360, but unless the Katamari team do something new or truly brilliant I don't think I'm going to bother for a while. Just too many other games demanding my attention this holiday season.
