Cliffy B: BioShock is my game of the year
You know why people like Cliffy B? No, it's not just the stylish locks and game design skills (though that's part of it, make no mistake). It's his honesty. It's the forthrightness, for example, to call BioShock his Game of the Year in September of a year when he is releasing a game of his own. That's the kind of guy we look up to.
The man behind Gears of War gives a frank, funny take on the game (which was made with Epic's technology) over at his blog. Although he's dumping heaps of praise on the game, Cliffy's also honest enough to admit there are some things he doesn't like, including forcing his enemies to be covered in bees. We're still curious about the GOTY distinction though. Either he's as honest as we think, "Except for My Game" was implied in the award title or, maybe, it's just a subtle hint that Unreal Tournament 3 really, really isn't guaranteed to come out in November.

I've logged zillions of hours between UT, UT2003 and UT2004, but more or less it has no better of a chance than Battlefield 2142, Warhawk, or any of the other futuristic MP centric titles.
On the flipside, Bioshock is a single player only title, so should it win ? :P

That's the ticket.
Bioshock is also my Goty for 2007 at least until Halo 3 or CoD4 have anything to say about it.

For someone who made a decent game his review of Bioshock sounds like nothing more than the rantings of a 7 year old. I certainly expect more of an artists perspective on the game in his review and instead got the kind of review you can expect from any user comment on joystiq.
Oh well.

Cliffy B, don't you have a dental plan?

Lisa needs braces.
Anyway, shooting bees is cool - people freak ouot when they get stung and you can smack the crap outta them. I liked the effect.

Yeah, dude, most of us here have 360's - and no, I am not obsessing on it.
[Sorry to folks for double posting - you know, the comment system screwed me on the initial go!]
Ouch, I'd almost rather no port than a Vista-only port. Eventually some game is gonna force me to switch, though. Perhaps Halo 3 =P

Yeah, I said it. Now to those who disagree with me - how many of you have actually played Metroid Prime 3?

Glad to see a metroid supporter but IMO I feel Metroid and The darkness are in a level little lower than Bioshock in which both are awesome but not quite for a GOTY yet both are outstanding for different reasons.
For example Metroid controls are awesome,in fact I couldn't help to think how awesome those controls would be in Halo 3.
The Darkness has this impressive art design and a badass story.
