We'll admit that we haven't always been super kind to Halo 3 marketing efforts, but we think this is one we could get behind. Future Weapons, the perfect show for nerds who wish they had the muscle mass to join the army, will be profiling what appears from this ad to be weaponry similar to that of Halo on the episode airing tonight at 8 p.m. on The Discovery Channel.
We're not sure exactly what the episode will feature, but we know it'd have to be better than a soda that is in no way Halo related. (Though, admittedly, it is still citrusy and delicious.) Besides, remember when Discovery Channel bought you those Gears maps? Don't you owe them one?
(P.S. Sorry that the commercial is a bit truncated. It's the best we could find.)
I kid...I didn't watched the whole video just 3 seconds and then I read the comments, it seems like most of the people out there hated the ending but then again is youtube where 65% of the commentaries are inflammatory and the other 35% are spam.
BTW talking about spoilers, PC GAMER just revealed the ending to Half life 2 Episode 2.
Little spoiler alert…
Well I hope Episode 3 is packed with a new opposition force, Blue shift 2, Black mesa and all new counterstrike.
What's next? The Hitl err History Channel talking about the war similar to R2D2's fake documentary? I enjoy Future Weapons when I see them though I much prefer Mythbusters.
I am absolutely loving these marketing campaigns for Halo. After reading the novels i've been enthralled with it's universe and these marketing campaigns are high quality and really give me something to look forward to. :D
This ad campaign is working. I was half-asleep on the couch yesterday watching football when I hear my 5-year old son say, "Daddy! Did you know you can go to Halo3.com?"
Look the amount of views of the Halo 3 Mega spoiler is OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!
Seriously if I were you people I would stop visiting Halo or game forums for a while, some guys from the site that shall not be mentioned are already complaining about it and probably members of the SDF (Super Duper Failures) are doing GIF Images with the H3 Spoiler as we speak.
With out reason you feel that Halo 3's marketing strategy has gone a little to far from your, zone of acceptence. But take this into consideration. From what i have read in my time reaing your blogs You are Pac-Man fan, and never complained about its glory days in Markets other than the Gaming onces. If you can name an item sold, you know some were theres a Pac-Man logo or a character of its liking on it. Pac-Man toiletpaper? I've seen it.
So why not Halo, why cant the Chief, roll around in money for giving his visor relections liking to mountain dew or pontiac. We should all be thankfull and great ful that we have Games like Pac-Man and Halo 3 that once again, have become Cultural Icons that reach beyond typical gamers. Even my mothers a 65 year old women knows who Master Chief is. She even knows the story of Halo 2....and piece together the Sub-contents of Fanatical Religion, and how far can people take IGNORENCE and missuderstandments. Thats right kids its not just run and gun. Oh and she bought a pack of that "game fuel" for her house just cuz it had Halo on it, i guess tring to empess me when i go over, that drink sucks.
A cultural icon is what these two game are make no mistake about that and just let them be.
Unbunch you panties, dude. There is such a thing as "Too Much" hype, and you're witnessing it with Halo 3. Pac-Man BECAME iconic, he wasn't whored out like the Master Chief is in order to get there just in time for launch day.
As far as this is concerned, are they looking at the plausibility of HAlo 3 weapons eventually becoming a reality? If so, I think it will be interesting to see how they manage to piece it together.
Now if only they do a mythbusters looking at myths about video games...
"the perfect show for nerds who wish they had the muscle mass to join the army"
Speak for yourself, Joystiq, I don't wish to join the army. I play games because there is NO danger! You kinda contradicted yourselves with this a while back:
ONTOPIC: I don't want to ruin the surprise for me.
ACTUAL POST: WHAT? you can prevent embedding on youtube now? That sucks, google, your adding too many features. I like basic websites, not these fancy-pancy too many features to count sites.
