A look into how Halo 3's Forge works

the last time i tried to create a map was for DOOM .........

i was rubbish then...and i'm probably rubbish now !

that being said, i think i might try and re-create POWER STATION (a la Shadowrun) just as a tribute to the best MP game of the year~

Yes, Shadowrun was the best multiplayer game of the year, but that will probably change a week from today.

This is not a map editor in the traditional sense. It's more like a item modifier. It's spectacular nonetheless, just wanted to clarify.

Although COD4 will be above shadowrun in MP as well...

I'm really tired of those few but pesky Halo haters. For me every1 who hates Halo just wasnt good at it so they hated it cuz they would get owned. If thats not the case then just get off Bungie's back and stop leaving comments on a pro-Halo blog. Jeez.

halo 3 is the games of games and this forge feature is just another tasty sprinkle on top.

xenocidic, I did respect you, because Shadowrun really is an awesome game. But calling Halo 3 "Halo 2.5" is just foolish. Honestly, what else does a game have to do to be a quality sequel? Halo 3 has better graphics, new guns, forge, 4 player co-op, saved films, image uploader, and tons more. "But the gameplay is the same!" you cry. This is a sequel, pal, not a new series. Why would they completely change how the game is played in a sequel? I don't understand why so many of you Halo haters are saying that. Since when does a sequel have to be an entirely new game? Anyways, Halo 3 is the greatest improvement on a series I've seen in all video game sequels. Try naming another sequel that is more epic. Good luck.

the fact that they decided to force 4-player co-op into the dev cycle because the fans demanded it (myself included) gives bungie huge respect points in my books.

Why are there reader reviews already on IGN, and why is the average score 8.7? That worries me, are people on IGN just being idiots or what? I didn't read them, just in case there are spoilers, but I happened to see the 8.7 and was rather shocked (does this mean those that somehow already have the game and have played it think it is fairly good but not great, or is it just a group of halo 3 haters, or a mix?)

Anyone know what the deal is at IGN?

Erivera3, those "reviews" are not IGN's. They're reader reviews from the community (us), and if click on them, you'll see that most of them are positive 10 ratings. But as you know, some people are Halo haters (for whatever reason), and give Halo a disrespectful "0". Consequently, when averaging 0's this dramatically decreases the overall score. Kinda like when you don't turn in an assignment and get a 0, that 0 will totally fuck up your GPA.

Lol long story short, don't worry bout it bud...IGN loves teh Hal0z trust me!

Oh and most of those people haven't played H3 yet (except Fontez of course - you jerk!), just expressing their opinions on what they've played/seen so far.

Forge and 4-player co-op are the most exciting aspects of the whole deal.

Possibilities are endless. This alone will keep me in halo for a long, long time.

You've only posted on X3F 3 times, (once to win the free swag which I hope you don't now)...but if you did read more post you would realize that we're all big H3 fans and hope it does well with the media. Personally I don't care cause it will ultimately be my personal opinion whether I like the game or not (which I will cause of the Beta). Hey zack, i just got done reading what you have said, and i can't agree with you more than any other halo fan. If you ask me the only reason halo haters call it halo 2.5 is because they haven't done their research to see what is new in the game. it tells you it's a sequel right from the start, "Finish the Fight" people. Bungie has made and told us about so many new things in halo i can't get any idea why people call it halo 2.5 except for the fact that they have not done research and are stuck with there thoughts. if your so damn sure about this, give us your reasons and we will prove you wrong 100%. research, people, it'll help clear your thoughts.

Halo 3 is without a doubt in my mind the best game out there for the time being, and is a fantastic sequel. if you disagree, tell me why, and i WILL prove you wrong, as well as many other people, i guarantee it. there is a very small portion of halo haters out there, and halo 3 is the most highly hyped game ever, and for a good reason. It's Halo 3 people.
