Ever since the Wii came out, people have been wondering when there would be a Star Wars game for the system that lets you wield your Wii-mote like a lightsaber. Well, the wait is nearly over you malevolent gamers. LucasArts announced recently that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will bring the dichotomy of lightsaber-wielding, arm-lopping, head-chopping violence to the cuddly and playful Wii.
It's not known yet how the Wii-mote will integrate into the game, which takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, but let's hope it's some actual gameplay and not a "shake your lightsaber up and down really fast!" minigame that's been tacked on. Apparently you'll be able to go head-to-head on the Wii, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be with lightsabers. Although if it does ... whoa mama. Let the flailing being.

Well it's not really THE lightsaber game for Wii. Well, i hope not at least. I'd much rather have something built from the ground up with the Wii in mind.

That's what I was just thinking. If they just port the game to the Wii the controls are just going to feel tacked on and all the Nintendo haters will be right again. I really don't want that. I'd rather not have it at all!

I was already convinced to pick up this game for 360. I guess this means hold out and wait to see what the reviews say.
I think the lightsaber game we all want is still going to be made someday...I just doubt this would be it.

It can NOT be good.
The cheap speaker in WiiMote will not allow it.

Actually, the speakers on the wii mote will make it better. Lightsaber sounds from the wii mote instead of some random TV speakers?
Of cause, that's assuming they don't mess the whole thing up, of cause.

ZOMG!!
With the development, I doubt that Nintendo would ever manage to satisfy Wii demand in U.S.

What about a SW licensed Wiimote in a lightsaber? That would be spiffy.
Imagine the YouTube videos.

If Nintendo couldn't even get 1:1 movement down, is it at all possible that LucasArts can?

Maybe rather than controlling the lightsaber you'll just be controlling a guy whos controlling a lightsaber =P

Or maybe you'll use the Wii remote to control a dragon that's riding a guy that's controlling a lightsaber?

"This is your father's Wii Remote. It is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a Sixaxis... An elegant weapon, for when they tack on motion controls at the last minute."

Umm.. that's not quite what I had in mind for a light saber game. It should be first person with kick ass AI, hit detection, death animations, decapitations and severed limbs, etc. They should also make the game so you can switch to your blaster and blast some half dollar holes in aliens. That would be the Wii GOTY!! But this sounds ok if they don't just tack on wii control schemes like 80% of their games.

I don't care if it's 1:1. It can be 1:5 as long as it is fun and intuitive. And whoever said the wiimote speaker sucks, ummmmm... no?
Also Shaggi that's the only +1 you ever got from me.

Why is it always nintendo this and nintendo that? Why can't we blame the people who's responsible for the games for once?

You know what would be a great "lightsaber game"? That Star Wars Trilogy game! I don't care if it is an on-rails shooter and there are only two fights that involve lightsabers. Port that shit. Maybe throw a few extra lightsaber battles for good measure.

They need to port every lightgun game out there right now. I want me some arcade-style Big Buck Hunter. Ghost Squad ... where the fuck is Police Academy? Meh.
