Finally, the Star Wars lightsaber game for the Wii
Ever since the Wii came out, people have been wondering when there would be a Star Wars game for the system that lets you wield your Wii-mote like a lightsaber. Well, the wait is nearly over you malevolent gamers. LucasArts announced recently that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will bring the dichotomy of lightsaber-wielding, arm-lopping, head-chopping violence to the cuddly and playful Wii.
It's not known yet how the Wii-mote will integrate into the game, which takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, but let's hope it's some actual gameplay and not a "shake your lightsaber up and down really fast!" minigame that's been tacked on. Apparently you'll be able to go head-to-head on the Wii, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be with lightsabers. Although if it does ... whoa mama. Let the flailing being.

Blazur @ Sep 18th 2007 4:42PM
Heck...yeah! 'Bout time this happened...
Phour ZwanZig @ Sep 18th 2007 5:49PM
Yeah I agree, bout time.. But as much as they are pushing gpx and phyx in this game, Id rather buy this for the PC or my 360..
All in all it will be a rental on my Wii..
driven2sin @ Sep 18th 2007 3:34PM
hopefully all the characters from nintendo show up in this title with lightsabers..
even nintendogs
RP @ Sep 18th 2007 3:35PM
Well it's not really THE lightsaber game for Wii. Well, i hope not at least. I'd much rather have something built from the ground up with the Wii in mind.
Jerk Face @ Sep 18th 2007 4:42PM
That's what I was just thinking. If they just port the game to the Wii the controls are just going to feel tacked on and all the Nintendo haters will be right again. I really don't want that. I'd rather not have it at all!
jorojoserojas @ Sep 19th 2007 12:34AM
I was already convinced to pick up this game for 360. I guess this means hold out and wait to see what the reviews say.
I think the lightsaber game we all want is still going to be made someday...I just doubt this would be it.
Shmil @ Sep 18th 2007 3:35PM
please don't fuck this up

lessbiasedthanmost @ Sep 18th 2007 4:02PM
How can they?
Oh, wait....
Neebs @ Sep 18th 2007 4:10PM
Lucasarts.
NaeemTHM @ Sep 18th 2007 4:19PM
It's not LucasArts that's going to screw this one up. They made a HUGE mistake and passed it off to Krome Studios. Take a look at the games they've made. They all sucked balls. Giant, hairy, Wookie balls.
Way to go jerks.
Ska Oreo @ Sep 18th 2007 3:35PM
please let it be good please let it be good please let it be good please let it be good please let it be good please let it be good please let it be good.
Ihar `Philips` Filipau @ Sep 18th 2007 3:39PM
It can NOT be good.
The cheap speaker in WiiMote will not allow it.
Psaakyrn @ Sep 18th 2007 11:58PM
Actually, the speakers on the wii mote will make it better. Lightsaber sounds from the wii mote instead of some random TV speakers?
Of cause, that's assuming they don't mess the whole thing up, of cause.

Shagi wins for a change.
Ihar `Philips` Filipau @ Sep 18th 2007 3:37PM
ZOMG!!
With the development, I doubt that Nintendo would ever manage to satisfy Wii demand in U.S.
Jeff @ Sep 18th 2007 3:42PM
It's gonna have no choice but to be an entirely different game. Hopefully it's good.
Geoffrey Sperl @ Sep 18th 2007 3:47PM
Dark Helmet: I see your Wiimote is as large as mine...
Geoffrey Sperl @ Sep 18th 2007 3:49PM
OOOOOO....
What about a SW licensed Wiimote in a lightsaber? That would be spiffy.
Imagine the YouTube videos.

JimWack @ Sep 18th 2007 4:32PM
Maybe the ps3 version will have lair control style during ship battles.

This is just too good to be true.

krome studios worries me though...please do me right
greatslack @ Sep 18th 2007 3:53PM
If Nintendo couldn't even get 1:1 movement down, is it at all possible that LucasArts can?
Shagittarius @ Sep 18th 2007 3:55PM
Maybe rather than controlling the lightsaber you'll just be controlling a guy whos controlling a lightsaber =P
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 18th 2007 10:17PM
Or maybe you'll use the Wii remote to control a dragon that's riding a guy that's controlling a lightsaber?
Shagittarius @ Sep 18th 2007 3:54PM
Can't wait to waggle my meatsaber!
Jerk Face @ Sep 18th 2007 4:47PM
Ha ha! I hate you.
AstroZombie @ Sep 18th 2007 3:54PM
"This is your father's Wii Remote. It is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a Sixaxis... An elegant weapon, for when they tack on motion controls at the last minute."
aeamek @ Sep 18th 2007 4:09PM
lol
WiseGuy @ Sep 18th 2007 3:56PM
Umm.. that's not quite what I had in mind for a light saber game. It should be first person with kick ass AI, hit detection, death animations, decapitations and severed limbs, etc. They should also make the game so you can switch to your blaster and blast some half dollar holes in aliens. That would be the Wii GOTY!! But this sounds ok if they don't just tack on wii control schemes like 80% of their games.
WiNG @ Sep 18th 2007 3:56PM
I don't care if it's 1:1. It can be 1:5 as long as it is fun and intuitive. And whoever said the wiimote speaker sucks, ummmmm... no?
Also Shaggi that's the only +1 you ever got from me.
F1 @ Sep 18th 2007 4:02PM
Hell ya!
I swear if Nintendo screws this up...
(lightning starts collecting on the tip of fingers)
Ska Oreo @ Sep 18th 2007 5:28PM
Why is it always nintendo this and nintendo that? Why can't we blame the people who's responsible for the games for once?
F1 @ Sep 18th 2007 4:04PM
Hell ya!
I swear if Nintendo screws this up...
(lightning starts collecting on the tip of fingers)
F1 @ Sep 18th 2007 4:04PM
Sorry bout' the double post.
Slaziman @ Sep 18th 2007 7:16PM
Yeah fucking Nintendo, don't screw this up!
Nintendo isn't developing this game?
Oh...
Santo @ Sep 18th 2007 4:04PM
Star Wars: The Force Unwiished...
Seriously, though... please don't screw it up.
megaStryke @ Sep 18th 2007 4:11PM
You know what would be a great "lightsaber game"? That Star Wars Trilogy game! I don't care if it is an on-rails shooter and there are only two fights that involve lightsabers. Port that shit. Maybe throw a few extra lightsaber battles for good measure.
Martin @ Sep 18th 2007 4:12PM
They need to port every lightgun game out there right now. I want me some arcade-style Big Buck Hunter. Ghost Squad ... where the fuck is Police Academy? Meh.
jorojoserojas @ Sep 19th 2007 12:38AM
Sega made that one, right?
Hmmm...I wonder if it could be done.
ronald.raygun @ Sep 18th 2007 4:26PM
"unnnhhhhhh!!!"
what's that sound?
oh its the star wars kid creaming his pants
