Ever since the Wii came out, people have been wondering when there would be a Star Wars game for the system that lets you wield your Wii-mote like a lightsaber. Well, the wait is nearly over you malevolent gamers. LucasArts announced recently that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will bring the dichotomy of lightsaber-wielding, arm-lopping, head-chopping violence to the cuddly and playful Wii.
It's not known yet how the Wii-mote will integrate into the game, which takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, but let's hope it's some actual gameplay and not a "shake your lightsaber up and down really fast!" minigame that's been tacked on. Apparently you'll be able to go head-to-head on the Wii, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be with lightsabers. Although if it does ... whoa mama. Let the flailing being.

Does the Wii have enough horsepower to handle the DMM and Euphoria stuff? I guess this game will tell us if Chris Hecker was right.

This has some potential. I wish Star Wars hadn't already done some much to make me hate it.

They'll screw it up. You guys know that, right?
I just don't want to see anyone too let down when this game gets Lair-like reviews, is all.

Let's somehow UNhype it until nobody cares and then if it's only worth a 6.0 rating we're all blown away!

The only thing that will save this version is if Lucas Arts makes an entirely new game just for the wii that fully uses the Wiimote. But for some reason, I'm sensing another lazy port.

The only way they're not going to screw this up is if the same people who made Wii Sports make it. And that's just not going to happen. Sigh. Tiger Woods. Sigh.
However I am praying to seven different Gods that they get it right!

It's effed up, isn't it, how the Wii is still not on these big companies' top priority list. They continue to look at the Wii as an afterthought...KROME STUDIOS???? Thanks, guys. It would have taken LucasArts probably a year to create something awesome from the ground up, use a budget 25% the size of a PS3/XBOX360 game budget and rake in amazing profits, but NOOOOOO...grumble...grumble

This is cool but I was expecting a first person jedi lightsaber game. Anyone else thought about this?

The Wii remote cannot produce 1:1 motion, so don't expect anything beyond the gimmicky waggle controls found in Lego Star Wars.
Force Unleashed is a 3rd person action/adventure game not unlike Jedi Outcast. The force powers will be a step up from Outcast, but we can expect the gameplay to hover within the same mediocre realm. This is nothing to get excited over. You're all setting yourselves up for a huge disappointment.

Wii remote can approximate 1:1 motion, and could do significantly better than the waggle action from lego - i dont have a Wii but i do know alot about motion sensors and signal processing.

Ide like to see the motion sensors on ps3 and Wii used to allow players to use the motion sensors to move objects the way they move the controller, you just release a button to release the grip on the item for example where sidious uses the force to throw the purple dude off the window ledge or where ob1 hurls the insect dude into the roof.
Imagine something like folklore but instead of stealing souls you shake or push the target around using motion.
And of course fighting which interacts with the controller's movements in some way.
And steering any vehicles should be tilt based motion steering.
If i wanted to just play with thumbsticks ide have a ps2 or xbox360 - I NEVER owned a console before as I am not the least bit interested in games which rely primarrily on thumbsticks.
I want motion and I have PS3 for that reason if the starwars game can do the above i will buy it otherwise i am happy to wait for another game.
