Joyswag: Free 1-year subscription to EGM magazine

Remember that time you enlisted the help of a couple friends and a crowbar and managed to pry yourself from the tyrannical grip of The Internet just long enough to make it outside? The sun tracked you like a spotlight, your very own giant ball of hot gas, searing your pale flesh; the muscles in your legs had atrophied, you could barely walk; you stopped. You sat down and pulled out a copy of Electronic Gaming Monthly from your back pocket (is that a pocket?) and read and read and read. It was like the internet in your hands.
Unless we're all alone in this world, this has undoubtedly happened to you as well, so we've once again teamed up with Ziff-Davis, the publishers behind EGM, to give away 30,000 free 1-year subscriptions (to US readers only ... sorry!). How free? You won't need to provide your credit card information; your subscription won't be automatically renewed at the end of the year; and you will need to "opt-in" to renew your subscription before receiving any bill for the magazine. Free. For the next time you find yourself out there.

Did this last year, and didn't get half the mags. >:(
Bpops @ Sep 18th 2007 12:04PM
I did it last year with GFW magazine, and I've gotten the issue every month.
frrs @ Sep 18th 2007 1:49PM
From the GFW promo, I've only missed like 3. The last one I received was the Aug 07 one with Gears of War on the cover.
Airhab @ Sep 18th 2007 2:17PM
I did the Malaysia free EGM like a year ago so this comes just in time for me to re-up. I also did GFW and get every issue.
NukeAssault @ Sep 18th 2007 4:31PM
I did it too and im still receiving them lol. This helps alot. I LOVE YOU GUYS!
Einhanderkiller @ Sep 18th 2007 6:33PM
My subscription lasts until May 2026.
ZenGaijin @ Sep 18th 2007 12:04PM
So I assume we just comment to enter.
Well I've always enjoyed 1up's podcast and videoshows but I'm not the biggest fan of their reviews at least as far as they go on the site. I'd be interested in seeing how its done in the magazine.
Bpops @ Sep 18th 2007 12:05PM
No, click the 'Read' link to sign up.
nerrrrrrd @ Sep 18th 2007 1:07PM
yes, your IP will be traced and the magazine will show up at your door by your friendly neighborhood mailman.
Fernando Rocker (NDF - Water Ring) @ Sep 18th 2007 12:05PM
Done!
L @ Sep 18th 2007 12:06PM
Sweeeet.
Brymo @ Sep 18th 2007 12:06PM
Thanks!
I did this before through Joystiq. Never got one mag.
Fernando Rocker (NDF - Water Ring) @ Sep 18th 2007 12:07PM
I like free stuff. And rebates.
Ash @ Sep 18th 2007 12:09PM
I got a subscription through an eRewards program last year and didn't receive more than half the copies. Its a good magazine but after experiencing their horrible service I didn't bother renewing.
But since its free I'll sign up again I guess.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 18th 2007 12:09PM
Uh oh. I done it.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 18th 2007 12:10PM
When you hit submit is it supposed to just link directly to Joystiq with no confirmation?
Edog Lost @ Sep 18th 2007 12:27PM
Got mine too. I also went to NextFest and got a free subscription to Wired Mag this weekend. Is this some optimal time right now to give away free subscriptions?
DarthDavid @ Sep 18th 2007 12:09PM
Does this work for current subscribers? I just got my renewal letter, I figure I can just fill this out and get a free year? Its not mentioned anywhere on the form, I guess I have to wait and see =)
ZenGaijin @ Sep 18th 2007 12:12PM
I figured it out right as I posted Bpops but thanks.
SuMtOnE @ Sep 18th 2007 12:17PM
After your done filling out ur 411... it says at the end... Thank You for summiting etc etc etc.... cant wait for my 1st issue btw
kokuryukai @ Sep 18th 2007 12:19PM
No Canadian love I see :(
Christopher Grant @ Sep 18th 2007 5:44PM
You realize we can't give things away to Canadians without administering a math test. I'm serious. Tell your politicians to fix that garbage and we could probably include Canada in our other sweepstakes.
As for this, Ziff Davis limited it to the US. Not our call.
Wilhelm @ Sep 18th 2007 6:03PM
Ah! I always forget about those damn 'skill-testing question's. Thanks for clearing that up Mr. Grant.
Quastor @ Sep 18th 2007 12:20PM
I did this last time as well, I think I got 13 or 14 issues before they cut me off.
I think EGM is a good magazine, just with the internet it hardly makes sense to pay for a subscription for news I get for free as it happens.
Certainly won't look a gift horse in the mouth though!
harveypekar @ Sep 18th 2007 12:21PM
I friggin' love you guys.
Bizdady @ Sep 20th 2007 4:24PM
Sweet! Signed up, lets see how many I do get now.
Andy Witmyer @ Sep 18th 2007 12:26PM
Thanks! I got a free subscription from some other gaming mag last year - thought it was a hoax - but I indeed for a year's subscription for free! Thanks for the heads up and the wonderful offer, Joystiq!
You guys are so rad.
WiNG @ Sep 18th 2007 12:28PM
thanks
Jay @ Sep 18th 2007 12:58PM
I did it last year, and I received the full subscription. It's not bad idea for EGM, as it drives up their ad revenue.
daCuk @ Sep 18th 2007 12:31PM
Weren't game magazines supposed to be dead?
You know, with the Internets and all that, who needs to wait a whole months for news you already knew?
Ignatius @ Sep 18th 2007 12:35PM
At least it's free. :P
GoldenS1104 @ Sep 18th 2007 4:13PM
Well, gaming mags often offer more in depth previews then websites. Not to mention they offer unique perspectives on reviews. It can't hurt, I mean, it's free. I don't know if you noticed, but occasionally the info you see online originates in magazines.
LeChuck @ Sep 18th 2007 12:36PM
I don't know why but I signed up. I'm only a few issues into my free GFW subscription. They mostly just take up space until I decide to throw them out but oh well. Free is free, right?
I apologize in advance to all the trees that died to make them.
Shibathedog @ Sep 18th 2007 12:52PM
When i did this last time, i was also subscribed to a bunch of weird womens health magazines.
but i did it anyway because if its free you can't complain, thanks! (Errr...for EGM and GFW)
jodyanthony.com @ Sep 18th 2007 12:47PM
hooray
F1 @ Sep 18th 2007 12:49PM
Fragin' sweet! This is just another reason why I love Joystiq!
ThumbCallous @ Sep 18th 2007 3:27PM
I happy for you guys, as a Canadian I am one sad panda. :( their podcast is great, and free, so I guess that makes up for something.
Kevin N. @ Sep 18th 2007 5:57PM
Signed up, too. This is funny because I was just looking into getting EGM or Nintendo Power or something else and now, lo and behold, this post pops up in my RSS reader. Thanks Joystiq (and Ziff-Davis)!
josearoldan @ Sep 18th 2007 1:01PM
I just signed up. I hope I get to receive them since I never receive magazines when I sign up to them :S
TheWax @ Sep 18th 2007 1:04PM
Thats just plain awesome, thank you so much for this. :D
rinks @ Sep 18th 2007 1:05PM
Cool. I get GFW every month, no reason to expect different here. Thanks guys.
samred @ Sep 18th 2007 1:05PM
Link is currently dead. Already dried up?
AlanS17 @ Sep 18th 2007 1:33PM
I signed up, too. We'll see what happens. I also sent the link to a friend who also signed up.
baby sea tuna @ Sep 18th 2007 1:25PM

Yeah, I did this last year too. It was cool. But this year I found it harder to say yes to free stuff. I'll see you guys later, I gotta go see a doctor.
chulipin @ Sep 18th 2007 1:56PM
Ty Joystiq, for this you have became my favorite vg website.
Almack64 (NOF - Ultrazord) @ Sep 18th 2007 1:56PM
