TGS07: Rumbling SIXAXIS accidentally revealed by EA
According to IGN, EA accidentally revealed the rumbling SIXAXIS to the press in its pre-TGS media briefing. The PS3 version of Burnout Paradise had a heftier feel to it: the controller was heavier and had a giant sticker that said "RUMBLE." With the cat out of the bag, IGN also added that "A formal announcement is expected tomorrow at Kaz Hirai's keynote address." Early word on Kaz's keynote suggests that other significant announcements will headline Sony's presentation.

Well, here's to Sony's getting its head out of its ass on this one.
OH OH! I know the other big announcement. They're going to put a speaker into the controller too, so you can hear sounds from your hands. So innovative. WOW.
**fixed**
You mean like bringing the price down to something remotely acceptable?
Firing the entire marketing group responsible how things have gone?
Or just more lame hype about Home?

Well, providing Ratchet and Clank is any good.
I don't see how you can be having a dilemma, and i don't see how a rumble controller would help push you one way or another. Either you like the games 360 has or you like the games ps3 has, it shouldn't be based on reliability.

Rattle (rumble)
and Roll (I have no idea)

It seems Sony has caved into the online fanbois.
Is this going to be Immersion's "next-gen" rumble?

- Walking alone in a dark corridor... and all of a sudden, your controller rumbles for seemingly no reason at all, yet triggering your pavlovian reflex of fear because throughout the whole first part of the game, rumble was associated to enemies in the vicinity.
- Car racing, rumble slowly intensifying as you gain speed until WHAM, some other NPC car from the opposite direction smacks you with full force, making you feel the rumble as your car shreds into pieces.
- What about the deaf gamers?
I don't need my controller to vibrate to tell me I'm moving, that's what the graphics are for. Game designers are idiots.

Either way, I will probably get one, since I already have two sixaxis.

After insisting rumble was last-gen, and beating it over our head we didn't need rumble. Anything else is backpedaling and they haven't learned shit.

In fact I joked with my friends that the redesigned PSP was the one reason they let go Ken Kutaragi. I bet someone told him about the redesign and he went off and said "NO It'S PeRfEcT! YOU CANNOT ChaAnG3 mY PSP!!!1"
All I'm saying is, the way they announce the Rumble to me will give me a clear sign if they learned anything or not.

And how the Wii is only for mini games...
People just can't let go of their hate for a system they don't own.
I thought rumble was last gen?
I mean Sony literally said rumble was last gen, PS fanboys agreed and argued for it, then they added it later ala two gens ago. How the hell are fanboys supposed to not get a big ol' boner over that. It is perfect fanboy fodder.
This is just one of those threads that if you can't stand "I thought rumble was last gen" comments, then you just need to go to PS3fanboy and discuss what it actually means for games there.
Sorry, but this is Joystiq. Asking people to pass on this excellent fanboy trolling opportunity is like asking Brittney Spears to wear underwear when she goes out. It ain't happenin'.
My 360 RRoD'd for the 2nd time early this month. This ensures I'll miss the launch day for Halo 3 just like I missed the launch day for Gears of War when my 360 RRoD'd last time.
Good thing it happened almost to the day at the same time that the Wii FINALLY got another game worth having (Metroid Prime 3).
