LocoRoco Cocoreccho, Sega Rally Demo highlight PSN update

With all eyes turned to Tokyo this week, Sony has thrown North American PlayStation 3 gamers a bone in the form of the charming, but perhaps overly complicated "screensaver" game LocoRoco Cocoreccho, as well as a handful of new game demos including Sega Rally Revo, the first title in development from Sega Driving Studio.

Those wanting to pick up the successor to Sony Japan's delightful PSP original LocoRoco can do so for $6.99, a bit of a leap from the game's previously confirmed £1.99 price in the UK. In addition to the already mentioned rally racer, PSN users can also snag demos for EA's Tony Hawk competitor Skate, as well as THQ's Stuntman: Ignition and Sony's own forthcoming NBA 08.

And as if that isn't enough, it also looks like Sony has tossed up some wallpapers, videos, and trailers from such eagerly anticipated eye candy as GT5 Prologue, Devil May Cry 4, and Ratchet and Clank Future, making this a meaty update indeed.

That's 4 weeks in a row of good PSN updates. It would seem that they plan to keep this up. Keep 'em coming Sony, and do not forget that little game that Kojima is making, he said the TGS demo was PSN bound soon. How about next week to counter the Halo3 launch? And maybe, just maybe that Killzone2 level 3 demo. Puhleeese Sony, puhreeety please.

Cant wait to get home and try the new demos. PSN has fianlly gotten to the point where I actually pick and choose the demos/other downloads rather then downloading them all (there wasnt much to choose from). The extra content is nice and much appreciated!

What a well-written story! This write is going places.

The PS3 has passed the point of Dreamcast-style death. And that's what I really care about. I still want and think it will beat the 360 in the end...but if it doesn't then enough will come out to make the purchase no worse than an Xbox or GC of last gen.

Unless Nintendo screws up royally, I don't think either of the brawny contenders has a chance to snuff it in sales.

The Dreamcast will always be remembered fondly for great games, good technology, some bold moves, and a great community. I am pretty sure outside of the tech the PS3 doesn't really have any of those.

you're joking, right? you're comparing this system to the Dreamcast? A year later, the PS3 is still doing strong in sales. Around this time in 2000 when the PS2 was right around the corner, Dreamcast sales took a nose dive. It's been nearly a full calendar year and although the number of consumers purchasing PS3's dont rival its competitors, they're still holding their own.

I know it seems like a long way off, but give it another year. When companies finally start utilizing the full potential of the PS3 (SCEA included), the sales are going to jump.

not to be disrespectful, but after HALO3, there's nothing. Sure, Mass Effect is coming, but in the end, who is really going to care about it when they've got their Master Chief fix? It was the same way with the XBOX. After HALO2 hit the market, console sales spiked, then stalled out and crashed, mostly because by that point, they were working on releasing the 360.

Unfortunately, the XBOX360 isn't even through half it's life cycle, unless Microsoft is going their own path and working on another console. Such a HUGE release 2 years after the release of their console could be a huge misstep or it could be a blessing in disguise.

In another year, when RE5 is right around the corner (holy crap, I can't believe I just said that) and more games are on the market, the PS3 may not be as dominate, but it won't be dead like the Dreamcast.

ps - Dreamcast = best console EVER.

"coco rico" is the onamatopeia for a rooster crowing. Instead of "cockadoodledoo" they say "coccoriiiiicooo"
