I saw a Mitt Romney ad on GoNintendo, too, so it seems he thinks he's going to attract the Youth Vote or something.
I have no idea how, but...

Out of all the Republicans running, Romney seems like the most competent, though. Yeah, he's the paragon of a spineless weasel politician with no real principals, but he doesn't seem like the type to let others tell him what to do (Fred Thompson, GWB) or have an insatiable fascist blood lust (Guliani). And I don't know what the Hell is up with McCain anymore. He's a total joke.
As for Ron Paul, his only redeeming factor is his stance on the war. The rest of him is just your standard Libertarian kookiness.

Not that it matters. "They" are going to pick who runs, regardless of what We The People want.

Me? I'll be voting for Gore.
Even if I have to write his fucking name in.
I think he'll run, though.

Mitt Romney has suggested bringing back obscenity laws "to regulate violent videogames." Obscenity laws like the Comstock laws were used not just to censor violent videogames, but also to prevent that sale and distribution of birth control. When he talked about obscenity laws to prevent kids from playing violent videogame, he's sending out a coded message to the theocratic fundie base that's saying a lot more than "videogames are too violent."

As for Ron Paul, he's such a great champion of personal freedoms ... unless you have a uterus, then the state's allowed to tell you what to do. So, no thanks. (Also, does anyone really believe that when he talks about private interests taking over state-run institutions, he doesn't have a list of business friends in mind to piggy up to that trough?)

sorry, that should read "Obscenity laws like the Comstock laws were used not just to censor the sale of pornography, but also to prevent that sale and distribution of birth control."

I understand your cynicism, but if you look at the record, Ron Paul is the only one who lobbyists don't even bother talking to. I've been watching him for about 8 years, and he's one of only a handful of truly principled and uncorrupted politicians in Washington.

As for the abortion issue, he's an OBGYN and sees the fetus/baby as a human life. If that's the only disagreement you have with him, then you're doing well.

BTW, he's the ONLY guy running who I trust to keep his hands off of video games.

politicians are so out of touch it scares me. We as voters should stop treating elections and political parties as a team sport. Votes should be on the best candidate for the position and not down some party line because we have been tricked into this american football mentality.

Why do you assume that gamers are all the scum of the earth? I'm certainly not. I agree that the internet should be cleaned up a bit. Sure, you guys can have all the porn you want, but I dont want to see it and I wouldnt want my children to see it.

Why cant my children surf a porn-free web?
