what ever made you believe Sony never bought developers studios? Part of the reason that Sony has the most first party games is due to all the studios they bought.

Wow, so you don't like loud and energetic music when you are playing highly intense racing games? Maybe some mozart or twangy country music is more your speed.

NOTE TO SONY:
for MS2, how about like what you did for WarHawk?
SPLIT SCREEN MP, LOCAL LAN MP
MORE TRACKS, LESS LOADING TIME

your stupid mistakes on the original MS cost you lots of money (or at least $60 from me, anyway).

I loved motorstorm, So its nice to know its pretty much guaranteed to have sequels. With sony's funding, and the engine and basic mechanics already in place, it should make the next one easier to produce, and have more features. After all, the first one was being developed before the system's specs were final.

They may have to buy this developer. Sales have been good, but not spectacular. I'm sure initial development costs were high. The fault lies with Sony not having a large enough installed base of PS3s, which is the result of the PS3 being too expensive.

In the past, everyone developed for Sony because of the huge installed base. Now you have developers that have already commited to developing for the PS3 that I'm sure are concerned about their return on investment.

Might I suggest for the sequel that it actuall STROMs motors from the sky?
I'd also like the soundtrack to be nothing but 'It's Raining Men' by The Weathergirls.

This is my 1000th post...on this screen name, at least. So I don't feel like I feel like I totally wasted it by making a Motorstorm 2 joke, let me proclaim:
• I like bullet points
• I wish Nintendo would buy Seeds
• If you look closely, you can see Naked Peach's nipple
• Contrary to my screen name, I've never played a Sam Fisher game
• Sometimes I go by Mr. Fap☆Fap
• Godhand=Greatest. Game. EVAR.

That is all. You may return to your regularly scheduled routines.

Yeah, Tretton's actual quote was that they don't buy "exclusivity", and SDF can argue that this is completely different but it's pretty much splitting hairs.

Fanboys give Microsoft shit all the time for buying devs. At least now the hypocrisy is tangible.

Different. Buying a studio is making those developers part of the company. Buying "exclusives" is essentially a bribe telling some 3rd party to forget about that PS3 version you were thinking about.

It's only different in the fact that it's like paying for multiple exclusives instead of just one.

Hypocrits.

Except in this case Motorstorm was already exclusive. So claiming they bought "exclusivity" doesn't work. Either way, that was a stupid statement from Sony, BUT I'm seeing plenty of equally stupid statements about that quote in reference to this purchase. It's truly amusing.

Right, so all those game they haven't made yet were also going to be Sony exclusives? Speaking of stupid statements...your table is ready.

LOL... games they haven't made yet. The bottom line is they bought the developer. The previous statement was referring to paying a 3rd party to make a title exclusive, this has nothing to do with that. But, hey, keep being an idiot.

NO. Please go level up on your crompehension. They bought the whole damn studio. Buying an exclusive means you just make sure that particular game doesn't come out for another platform. Buying a studio means you have them make other games only for your platform.

Akamaru,

Maybe you should level up your implicational thinking.

Why did Sony buy the studio? Because they wanted to ensure that Motorstorm 2 (and possibly other games down the road) was a PS3 exclusive. Why did they need to buy the studio? Probably because Motorstorm didn't make enough money on Sony's platform to entice the devs to make another exclusive commitment, so rather than Sony losing a decent game (and some face), they just bought out the company.
