Is that guy's name in the upper left "KillMeImHere"
Haha – wow! That says it all about Home, doesn't it?!
aristokrat @ Sep 20th 2007 10:32AM
I especially like that dude's saggy jean. I wonder if that's a setting: degree of pant sag.
LunarDuality @ Sep 20th 2007 12:44AM
Why does Sony continue to make the mistake of over-promising and under-delivering?
Luckily for me I'm not really affected as I don't own a PS3, but if I did I could see myself quite miffed. Especially if this was one of the features that convinced me to dive into PS3land.
To be Pollyannaish about it, maybe it's because of all the beta feedback and their desire to have a really polished experience prepared before they go live. Let's hope it's that.
MobiusOne @ Sep 20th 2007 12:52AM
Let's see, no rumble until next year. No Home until then either. Christmas '07 for the PS3's gonna' really suck. Nothing's going to save it from getting decimated by the Wii and 360. In 2008, no one might even care about the PS3.
Vidikron (FU) @ Sep 20th 2007 10:30AM
Oh yeah... HSG5, Uncharted, R&C... yup, gonna suck. As long as those 3 keep their their 07 release dates all is good with me. I'm looking forward to those 3 as much or more than just about anything else out there with maybe the exception of Halo 3.
blooh (CDF - Ass Ring) @ Sep 20th 2007 12:54AM
pwn
almost everything for the ps3 is delayed until next year
red_cobra @ Sep 20th 2007 1:00AM
Umm... who cares! They just announced three new Kingdom Hearts games!! Woot Woot!!
Smoke_Dawg_187 @ Sep 20th 2007 12:57AM
I'm sure Sony is working on making Home more advertisement friendly. A service like this looks like it will cost a lot to develop and host.
If they launch this and people don't really get into the service it will have cost them a lot.
Smoke_Dawg_187 @ Sep 20th 2007 1:02AM
I'm sure Sony is working to refine home to make it more advertisement friendly. Home looks like it will cost a lot to develop and host. If PS3 owner don't find Home that useful, it will have cost Sony a lot of money.
Smoke_Dawg_187 @ Sep 20th 2007 1:03AM
Sorry double post. ^^
dsub @ Sep 20th 2007 1:19AM
Seriously, I think it will be too late for the PS3 by the time all this stuff is ready. Sony is already hurting enough this Holiday season as it is. I really don't see how they can afford having two major features that have been promised for the PS3 (rumble/home service) delayed, on top of there big three AAA titles for the fall getting horrid or mediocre reviews (Lair/Warhawk/Heavenly Sword) sales for the PS3 are already pretty bad. I just don't see how informing your would-be customers that certain major features won't be available until Spring of 2008 can help much.
Every time you hear something about the PS3, the words "delay" are almost always in the title. That wouldn't make me want to buy a PS3. "PS3" is becoming synonymous with "delay". That's not good for business. Especially when your installed base has been waiting patiently for this so-called revolution in gaming that you promised them almost two years ago.
blooh (CDF - Ass Ring) @ Sep 20th 2007 1:22AM
delaystation3 lol
Smoke_Dawg_187 @ Sep 20th 2007 1:32AM
^^ Totally agree dsub.
ninfundo @ Sep 20th 2007 1:52AM
Heavenly Sword?! MORE LIKE HEAVENLY BORED!!!! Warhawk?! MORE LIKE BOREDCOCK!!!! Lair? MORE LIKE BOOO NO ANALOG SUPPORT AND WAAAAHHHH TARGETTING!!!!!!!!!!11
Mr. P @ Sep 20th 2007 1:58AM
Sales are pretty bad? It's selling as well as PS2 and Xbox 360 did at this time in the lifespan (create a comparison chart on vgchartz.com and see). Just because a bunch of poor kids online keep badmouthing it doesn't mean the console is failing.
Kyle @ Sep 20th 2007 2:09AM
I agree with your point in some respects but it's still very early in this generation of consoles. I don't particularly care for ps3 but if they can manage to release a system seller within the next two years they still have a chance (its all about the games). Microsoft hasn't put the nail in the coffin yet and nintendo has opted out for an entirely different demographic so theres still room for sony to work.
I know people have favorites for this gen already but there is still a long way to go. and with videogames cititing constantly growing earnings second or third in the console race may still be fairly profitable.
JJ Rooster @ Sep 20th 2007 10:02AM
Totally agree dsub! I was all set to buy a PS3 with rumble for $399, but looks like that'll happen next year. And no, I'm not broke, but I don't see any reason to spend more now when a better PS3 will be out later, and the 360 keeps me busy enough! Try harder Sony, and stop delaying shit!
Vidikron (FU) @ Sep 20th 2007 10:35AM
Why do idiots keep putting Warhawk in same category as Lair? Seriously, are you people that stupid? Even HS is getting good reviews with the biggest knock being that it's simply too short. Lair flopped, yes, but ffs you're going to have to accept that HS and Warhawk are good games.
And I'm getting sick of people ignoring games like HSG5, Uncharted, and R&C. All the fanboys act like like that since Lair flopped the PS3 has nothing worth playing this fall... which is simply untrue. Those 3 are near the top of my wish list for this holiday.
Ronald Ray @ Sep 20th 2007 1:27AM
dsub, Warhawk and Heavenly Sword got pretty good reviews- especially Warhawk I haven't seen a review under an 8 for that game- and heavenly sword got mostly 8s-9s.
So I gotta ask, what the fuck are you smoking?
blooh (CDF - Ass Ring) @ Sep 20th 2007 1:45AM
maybe he meant how warhawk doesnt have much hype about it, and heavenly sword is 95% hype
Hachi_Roku @ Sep 20th 2007 1:47AM
So I can expect this and Duke Nukem at around the same time?
Joe Smith @ Sep 20th 2007 1:59AM
I am having trouble getting too excited by Home. It seems likea waste of resources that would be better spent building games and the tools to support game development and a real LIVE competitor. Home feels like some MIT researcher's idea of a gaming environment.
Kyle @ Sep 20th 2007 2:11AM
*citing
Hiroken @ Sep 20th 2007 2:47AM
I am in on the beta, and in response to the author, I have two things to say:
1. I haven't checked in a while, but right now, Home is update-less. Home is boring in its current incarnation.
HOWEVER!
2. Having played the beta, I can definitely see Home's potential and am very excited for it. Games like Armored Core 4, with the awful online interface, will be given new life by the Game Lobbies that have not yet been implemented.
I can tell you this: When HOME goes live, it will be something to behold. For now, just be relieved they're taking the time to deliver on what they've promised...(hopefully).

Rob @ Sep 20th 2007 8:51AM
Not yet implemented = vaporware.
Until it's pressed and in consumer hands, it doesn't exist. Even in Beta form it doesn't mean it will ship.
Herby @ Sep 20th 2007 9:15AM
You better log-in to Home, if you even have it, before talking crap.
GoonieGooGoo @ Sep 20th 2007 2:53AM
Does anybody even care about HOME anymore??? Its hardly a selling point for PS3 to ...i can't think of any demographic it would appeal to.
V1L3 @ Sep 20th 2007 3:53AM
Can't think of a demographic?
Let's see...
Game lobbies, matchmaking & trophies - Hardcore gamers.
Free mini-games - Casual gamers.
DRESS and socialising - Females.
All they need is a Bingo Hall for the old folks, and they're set.
The latter part is especially relevant, considering the majority of female gamers playing WoW are just as likely to be using it as a glorified chat room.
GoonieGooGoo @ Sep 20th 2007 2:05PM
Sorry v1lf.....
Very few females are going to spend 400-600$ for a glorified chat room......
As I said.....it isn't a selling point for the system. Its a perk.....but it isn't a selling point to any specific demographic except for a former Second Life User who wants no dicks flying everywhere.
SnapperDragon @ Sep 20th 2007 7:49AM
As much as people keep saying that we must all wait a while to see how this console battle turns out, it does not change the fact that the 360 has quality software coming out at a constant and even pace.
On the ps3, more often than not, the games either are delayed or sub-standard when compared to the 360.
Yes, the ps3 may have the *potential* to do this or that better than the 360, but if takes 3 years longer than the 360 to come out with titles that make buying the ps3 worth it then those that only bought a ps3 would have wasted 3 years waiting, and waiting.
Potential is nice, though. Just wait...
TRUTH @ Sep 20th 2007 8:35AM
Now C'mon, Who didn't see that coming!!!
vinny @ Sep 20th 2007 9:22AM
who needs games when you have a second life ripoff with rumble
Todd @ Sep 20th 2007 9:32AM
Heh, another reason for me to delay in getting a PS3.
Akamaru @ Sep 20th 2007 10:01AM
V1L3:
I think you brought up a great point. I can see a bunch of chicks getting this so they can all go on and dress up and chat about their weekend shopping. It's like WoW but for trendy little teemagers.
ChiefTortie @ Sep 20th 2007 10:09AM
I love that pic of all the cool guys & girls populating that screenshot..."Oh wow..it's a cool virtual community where you can meet and talk to cool people!"...It's ALL gonna be dudes...and they are just gonna be yelling insults at each other...It won't be long before there is the equivalent of the 'corpse-hump' in this bland shopping mall pergatory...
HB96st @ Sep 20th 2007 11:54AM
Chicks in Home??!!? PffT!! -yeah right!
Home will be a bunch of Fat dudes, dudes with no life, dudes that have no chance in real life of getting a "real" girl and Dudes acting like females in Home talking to you!
Everyone will look cool, dress cool and have a girl (thats a dude) in Home.. WOW.
Looks like Home will sell some PS3's...LMAO!!
Seriously, Home is not Myspace or Facebook. Female will NOT flock to the PS3 to play Home.. WTFU -and thats WAKE TFU.
Home will set up to fail... horribly.
Jtenma @ Sep 21st 2007 10:44AM
Yes we should all be like HB96st so we can have a life...
Really....
Lemmiwinks @ Sep 20th 2007 12:47PM
If a company is trying to capitalize on the popularity of Second Life, said company should try to make sure they make their money before that popularity wanes completely.
Jtenma @ Sep 21st 2007 10:46AM
also, LOL
Gerald @ Sep 22nd 2007 5:06AM
I was excited when I first heard about Home, even without owning a PS3; however, as time goes on and the PS3 continues to have very little to offer (as previously mentioned), I'm beginning to lose faith altogether in the ability of Sony to do something with its newest "game" console.
Yes, I understand there are games on the PS3 worthwhile, but even then, none truly stand out.
Home was something.
Now it's delayed, as most everything else that has any potential to pull the PS3 out of its slump, and the PS3 is still just a BluRay player with Resistance.
