TGS07: New Kingdom Hearts games coming to DS, PSP, mobile
Disney/Square/Enix fans will be happy to know that three new Kingdom Hearts titles are on the way, as Square Enix announced brand new titles in development for the DS, PSP, and mobile phones at the 2007 Tokyo Game Show.
1UP reports that these will be three entirely different titles, although all three will share the theme of "time." Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep will be headed for the PlayStation Portable as a single-player action-RPG romp in the same vein as its PS2 brethren. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days for the Nintendo DS is a full-3D game starring Roxas from KHII, and featuring simultaneous four-way multiplayer.
The final title, Kingdom Hearts: Coded, is being developed for mobile phones, and features the original Kingdom Hearts cast in a story that appears to take place in between the first and second PS2 games.

With KH3 probably slated for PS3, a KH fan would require
(1) cellphone
(1) NDS
(1) PSP
(1) PS3 (60GB, in order to have no trouble running PS2 games)
I'm glad I didn't like KH2 that much, because there's no way I'm buying all that, even for this game.

By not playing KH:COM, you got the story from the perspective of Sora, who has no clue what's happening, who what has been done in the past two years.
By playing KH:COM you got the story from Namine's perspective, who knows what has happened.
I can see a similar idea occurring with the PSP and DS versions, though, it might be more complicated with two separate games.
I've been sitting on the fence about picking up a PSP and a DS; I think this news just pushed me over the edge to pick up either one of them or both.

i can also see how this could pose a problem for Kingdom Hearts fans that dont have all these consoles. i think they could have done a better job with this actually. they could have at least done it like Final Fantasy XIII/Versus XIII (which i think is also a stupid model) and had all of the games on all the mentioned consoles.

Lower development costs (since FF13 is going to eat up a lot of S-E's resources), wider install base, and more appropriate market (Mickey = kids like!).
That's just my take on it, anyways. Who knows what they're planning.

...so it's another remake of the GBA game?

It could cover Roxas's story, or kairis.

Why does FFXIII Vs. have to occupy Tetsuya Nomura completely?
The hidden ending takes place in the upcoming PSP game. It's a prequel,to my disappointment. Sure I figured since Square-Enix made a prequel to FFVII so might as well put a prequel to every single money-making property. Well, looks like Im getting this one since I have a PSP. Except that it probably take 2+ years to get here, since we know how Square takes long with localization. Eg:Crisis Core
I knew there was something coming to the handheld consoles, since FFXIII isnt even finished yet. Im sure AFTER FFXIII is done something might be out for a platform,PS3 or the Wii most likely.

There isn't any breathing room... unless they do something stupid, and base a game around Sora getting his memory back while he's asleep.
