I'd love to upgrade my current 20GB HD as my space on it is getting a bit cramped. However I'm boycotting the 120GB (or any other size they come out with) until I don't have to be connected to XBL to play purchased XBLA games on my console. No sir, I don't like it.

Why are these so expensive? I don't get it? I feel as though Microsoft is punishing the early adopters who have the 20 GB Xbox.

The pricing structure for their hardware is the biggest mound of bullshit I have ever seen.

DemonG: I had to send my Xbox in to have the RRoD fixed. Now that it's back, I have to be connected to XBL to play XBLA games. :( I tried re-downloading Catan, for example, but it still thought it was only a demo when I was disconnected from XBL. How did you go about fixing that, beacuse it really sucks :(

You DO have to be connected to LIVE to play your old XBLA games if you upgrade to a 120GB HDD. As far as I know, there's no work-around, it's something to do with the fact that you can't move the licence from one console to the other so an XBL connection verifies it instead.

hard drives dont matter Rk, it's the console's serial. If its repaired AND updated in the system properly, you shold be able to go to accoutn history and re-download (doesnt download anything but the rights, its instant) the item and you SHOULD have full rights again.

This doesnt work for me though, so I had to call and am on a 2 week wait for them to update it and call me back and tell me it's ok to try again.

Just call, they'll tell you what to do. I got a new console AND a new hard drive thanks to two separate issues and I still got them all to work.

They're going to have you delete all your arcade games, then delete your profile (not the items, just the profile). Then they'll have you recover the profile and redownload the games. They worked for me fine at this point.

If they don't work then, they told me the next step would be to set up a Silver account and they will refund the points to that. You can then redownload the games there and they'd apparently be playable by your main account.

Still way too much money. I'm just the type of person that I'm not going to buy something that I don't really need unless it goes DIRT cheap.

Same thing with a PS3, I'm trying to get a PS3 for $300. If I pull some more strings maybe even more cheap than that. Hell I bought my 360 off a friend for $280.

Good timing. Have to buy the 120 GB and linked to Amazon and bought it. Thanks. I have no room on my 20 GB. At 18.5 or so and always download off of Live. Demos are the way to go before buying....for some games. Not questioning H3.

i don't really see the point of the larger hard drive. What do you need the extra space for if you don't play the arcade games??

I think a better deal can be had by buying the Elite (and getting an HDMI port in the process).

$450 Elite
-170 120GB HDD
-200 Gamesstop Tradein

$70 Upgrade difference. I'd pay $70 for HDMI, black case, and better cooling.

Well, so much for the deal of the "day." Just checked at 12:40pm PST, and it's back up to $172.49...
