Guitar Hero III soundtrack to unlock bonus tracks, Sonic Youth added

You'll have plenty to occupy yourself with when Guitar Hero III drops at the end of next month. But if you still haven't gotten enough, Billboard is reporting that a soundtrack album for the game will be released on Oct. 30 (two days after the game). But this is no mere soundtrack. It has been imbued with the power to unlock three additional songs for the game via Xbox Live with an included code. They include "Carcinogen Crush" by AFI, Flyleaf's "Tina" and a remix of Marilyn Manson's "Putting Holes in Happiness" by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs fame.

Also included in the announcement is the nugget that Sonic Youth's "Kool Thing" will be included in the game, which is one we haven't heard before. (There's a full list after the break.) As far as we know, there will be no similar code for PS3, but Billboard makes no mention of it, so it seems unlikely.

downloadable. You purchase the soundtrack and you get a code that you can use to download them on XBL.

I want an all Sonic Youth edition of Guitar Hero. Songs will include "Satan Is Boring" and "Teen Age Riot". The guitar has drumsticks shoved through its body and the buttons are scattered all over it. Levels are Easy, Medium, Hard, and Influential.

hey sonic youth cool! too bad most of the songs announced are rubbish. I really only see about 5 or so good ones. Most are modern teenage drivel.

Queens of the Stone Age, Santana, Blue Öyster Cult, Living Colour, Pearl Jam (I just hit the five-song mark!), ZZ Top, Iron Maiden, KISS, Scorpions, Velvet Revolver, Guns N' Roses, etc., etc.

Those would be the good ones Megastryker.Excluding revoler. But thats my imo Rock band has songs i prefer to this crappy gh3. Im going with harmonix on this one. They havent let me down yet.

You said that Harmonix hasn't let you down yet? How could they have since they did both GH1 and 2? Kind of a redundant comment. We still don't know how good or bad this game is going to be. Rock Band is on a different level, yes, but still.

C) Not get the songs at all because there's no way in hell I'm paying $20+ for a soundtrack I don't want just for three songs.

Sonic Youth with Chuck D for the massive win. I'm so buying the hell out of this now. This is the song that sold me. I was teetering at about 70% sure I'd get it, but now it's passed 100% (of my love).

Saw Sonic Youth performing Daydream Nation in Glasgow last month. Truly amazing stuff. I hope that EA see fit to try and get that album into Rock Band as dlc.

Guitar Hero III isn't hip enough for Sonic Youth.
