Pirates leak Halo 3 onto internet
When you rush in on Sept. 25 to finish the fight with the Covenant, don't be surprised if the fight has already been finished ... by pirates. GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that Halo 3 has already leaked onto warez sites (if the kids are still calling them that) in the form of a 6.14 gigabyte that is, unsurprisingly, dowloading like proverbial hotcakes for play on modded 360s. Now, we who will both wait and pay for the game must trudge through the pirates who got there first lining the streets asleep, their bellies thick with grog, their pockets fat with $60 bills from all the games they haven't bought. But take heart, dear reader. You won't just be getting satisfaction from playing Gallant to their earringed, tri-corner hatted Goofus. You can also take comfort that, though they might have gotten there first, not a single one of those pirates will get a cat helmet.

Halo without online play. Sounds... very satisfying.
Sean @ Sep 21st 2007 11:25AM
Definitely.
ShortFuse @ Sep 21st 2007 11:35AM
Actually... only the modders who didn't burn the discs correctly got banned from XBOX Live. This leaves the smart ones who know applies patches to the game image. Unfortunately, the smart ones who have the skill to do this are (and aren't banned) are the one who hack the game content and ruin online experience :(. It's mostly the n00b modders that got banned, but far from everyone.
Just recently a hack for Guitar Hero II came out where you can put your own custom tracks and play it on the xbox360. it sounds sweet and all but...that'll probably mean you can make a song with 1000, single 3 note chords and perfect a song and get an impossible highscore, and submit it into xbox live ranking. f'in cheaters.
Pikachief @ Sep 21st 2007 12:20PM
Pfft they already have that in GHII its called "Famous Last words" >.>
Seraphim @ Sep 21st 2007 12:51PM
Online play should work actually, its probably a copy that was bought from Argos and then leaked.
iamblinkin @ Sep 21st 2007 11:22AM
Leaking pirates = losers
CJC @ Sep 21st 2007 11:23AM
If it makes you feel better, Justin, I can't imagine many places would accept their "$60 bills."
Pirates aren't THAT clever.
OnimushaSoki @ Sep 21st 2007 12:59PM
you win, sir. :]
tekno99 @ Sep 21st 2007 11:25AM
I just happen to have a legit copy that I purchased. However my freinds all have leaked versions. They all play very well online.
Andy @ Sep 21st 2007 11:26AM
Your friends suck.
Mr Intel @ Sep 21st 2007 11:27AM
$5 dollar copies FTW!!!!!
slackerdan @ Sep 21st 2007 11:38AM
I'm sure there are always ways to cheat the system and get something for nothing. If you can live with that and feel good about yourself, then good for you. I can tell you that anyone who does get caught stealing\cheating, what ever you want to call it, deserves everything they get. I find it ironic that there are people who whine about things like paying for downloadable content while there are people who flat out pirate\steal etc. and think thats ok. I personally don't mind paying for something I want and supporting other people's hard work, but then again I'm not a teenager trying to be all emo-non-conformist either. So flame me if you want, but you dumbasses know right from wrong. The fact is that if you choose to do things like that then you just suck in general. Do us all a favor and don't breed.
tekno99 @ Sep 21st 2007 12:17PM
When I said Copy, I meant a LEGIT RETAILL SEALED copy. Please calm down
mfed3 @ Sep 21st 2007 1:30PM
yea too bad ur blatantly lying. its impossible to run copied game disks on an xbox 360.
useless story.
Neebs @ Sep 21st 2007 2:37PM
mfed3, how about you read the story and have some prior knowledge it only takes a modding to fix that problem.
Andy @ Sep 21st 2007 11:25AM
FU Pirates!
I did find it interesting that the game is 6.14GB I love having $200+ still to not have HD-DVD or
Blu-Ray drive that I don't need/want. Proof again that quality compression beats "extra" storage any day.
jynxycat @ Sep 21st 2007 12:19PM
That didn't take long.
rockintom @ Sep 22nd 2007 1:36PM
Shut up for ever.
WiNG @ Sep 21st 2007 11:28AM
lol and this is why pirates will ALWAYS be > ninjas. And lumberjacks. And apparently Spartans
Vince @ Sep 21st 2007 11:28AM
I haven't heard the word "warez" used in years.
Intentless @ Sep 21st 2007 11:29AM
Isn't it torrents in this day and age?
Fish @ Sep 21st 2007 11:30AM
You don't hear Warez. Warez hears you.
Viridium @ Sep 21st 2007 11:28AM
Goddamn pirates! Get off the internets!
Kinsella @ Sep 21st 2007 2:29PM
Pirates rule! (The software types, not those lame ass eyepatch internet meme kinds). Glad the Halo-Hype machine got a cog tossed in its wheels.
tekno99 @ Sep 21st 2007 11:34AM
Does anyone else have a LEGIT Halo 3 game? Want to get some MP on tonight?
daddycool @ Sep 21st 2007 11:55AM
No nobody has a LEGIT copy, the game hasn't been released yet.
jorojoserojas @ Sep 21st 2007 12:19PM
Won't they ban you if they see you playing online?
Seraphim @ Sep 21st 2007 12:57PM
My mate got one from argos, I've got to wait till wednesday.
Crono (NDF - French Taunting from Holy Grail Ring) @ Sep 21st 2007 3:16PM
Microsoft isn't banning anybody for playing Halo 3 early. And its plenty easy to get a Legit copy of Halo 3 now, you just got to go to a store that broke the street date. Its still a legit copy, since it was pressed in microsofts factory and sold to you at retail cost by a licensed distributor.
Matt B (SDF ) @ Sep 21st 2007 11:34AM
You could really say the same thing for almost every software title of value. I can find loads of PC, 360, PS2, xbox, and wii games on torrent sites. All playable on modded consoles. PS3 titles are surprisingly scarce but I attribute that to the high cost of buying a BR burner and a higher cost of BD-R disks. I'm not saying the piracy of PS3 games won't be done, it is just not cost effective right now.
ShortFuse @ Sep 21st 2007 11:38AM
PS3 hacking will be done like PSP hacking. It'll run of the memory stick/harddrive using some sort of ISO loader, not a BD-R. It has been hacked but nothing has been publicly because it's only good for piracy atm and not for homebrew.
Matt B (SDF ) @ Sep 21st 2007 11:51AM
I agree with you somewhat, but have you ever tried to DL anything that is 8-20GB? It could take a week or more.
jynxycat @ Sep 21st 2007 12:20PM
Sign up for a newsgroup, then that turns into a few hours :O

Kael @ Sep 21st 2007 11:36AM
My friend called me up late last night to tell me he has downloaded it, and that it was awesome. He will still buy a legit copy when he can to play online with me and our circle of friends, so it's all good.
Sonofield @ Sep 21st 2007 11:56AM
No it's not cool. Your friend is a pirate thief brigand, and he should be prosecuted to the highest extent of the law.
Martin @ Sep 21st 2007 12:41PM
I know everyone else gave you a [-] Sonofield, but I gave you a [+] 'cause that was some funny shit. "Pirate thief brigand"? Ha ha.
Crono (NDF - French Taunting from Holy Grail Ring) @ Sep 21st 2007 3:21PM
Except that "software piracy" is under the jurisdiction of intellectual property, which cannot actually be stolen, only used or distributed without permission. Thats a civil "crime", and carries a penalty of dollar signs not years in prison.
When will people stop buying the RIAA's garbage that downloading anything is the same as theft. Its not, and it never was. Copyright infringement is not the same as stealing. Period.
VampireHunter Z @ Sep 21st 2007 11:38AM
As long as I don't go online and see players with modded 360s I'm fine. Don't want to play against people with ridiculous super jumps and running speeds and auto aim BR that shoot sniper bullets. I will be snitching on any such asshole.

Crono (NDF - French Taunting from Holy Grail Ring) @ Sep 21st 2007 3:23PM
Nope. Not theft. Breach of copyright, but not theft.
SuiXide @ Sep 21st 2007 12:02PM
If I meet anyone online come tuesday playing a downloaded copy, you can bet there'll be some complaints filed. :D
Tim @ Sep 21st 2007 12:17PM
Please....Stop....Hating!!!
jynxycat @ Sep 21st 2007 12:22PM
I heard everyone who has a downloaded copy will have [L33t Pir8] tagged to their name...

The sky is blue. Oh, and grass is green.
Marty @ Sep 21st 2007 11:47AM
Gimme a break - the game is 4 days away. Seems like an awful waste of effort for having the game a mere half week before everyone else. Spend some time with Bioshock or Gears... you won't have time for them once Halo comes out anyway. :D
jynxycat @ Sep 21st 2007 12:21PM
Effort ? You click a few buttons, and you have the game in your hands for free.
I'd say the waste of effort would be going to work to make $60 :P
plyx @ Sep 21st 2007 11:49AM
The armor that guy's (or is it girl's?) wearing in the pic looks a hell of a lot better than the crap that sold on ebay for $21 grand.
