The only colorful War is a made up War, Halo.
Every single War in the history of man is filled with different shades of brown. Go burn something and blow something up, and you would see browns and blacks.
No bright blues or hot pinks or fire engine reds jackasses.
Xboy arguements are becoming more and more pathetic day by day.

Just be happy you guys get Halo 3 and leave us to lust after our MGS4. The games seems to be getting praises from everyone that has played the demo so far, so it should be a solid addition to the collection. I'm looking forward to the Fall and Spring in PS3 land. The only thing they need to do now is get the price of the system to $399 before the holiday season and get a major firmware update out the door (I want improved codec support, in-game messaging, DVR adapter for everyone, maybe cablecard support, etc.)

Definitly need that $399 price point.

Breaching that number as aggegiously as Sony did was CARDINAL SIN. With the hole Sony dug themselves, I'd even go as low as $349. It's a HUGE per console hit, but the market share is what's important NOW...it's all that matters.

Call me when God of War 3 and the next Team Ico title roll out.

I predict MGS4 is on the 360 three months after it's initial release on the PS3.

And I still won't get it. Besides, Splinter Cell: COnviction looks FUCTASTILICIOUS. The MGS series is just WAYYYY too far out there for me.

I completely disagree with the 3 months estimate, but I mentioned something about a 360 release of MGS4 earlier. A year at least.

"The MGS series is just WAYYYY too far out there for me."

That's cool. I know splinter cell is a little more down to earth in it's plotlines, though I wish they could do that without the "lets get the turrists" Tom Clancy vibe. It looks like Conviction will be and improvement in that respect. At least they haven't been as bad as GRAW2's "They got away with the WMDs, but will track 'em down."

I like my games a little crazier, but I guess that's why I like MGS more than SC. No problems either way though.

Stranger things have happened. *

*GTA4
*DMC4

I'd be shocked if Konami wasn't working on the 360 version as we speak.

Last time I checked, all the GTA games were available for Xbox. You make it sounds like 4 jumped ship.

DMC4. Capcom. "Resident Evil 4 is a gamecube exclusive." It's been on 3 other platforms so far. I don't know if DMC4 was ever announced as an exclusive specifically, but I know the 360 version was announced after the PS3. To reiterate: Capcom. Not Konami AND previously shown unreliable about sticking to exclusivity.

Kojima has said there aren't plans to make a 360 version. No plans = Not not working on it.

Well, you know what I'm saying. Last time I checked, Vice City was not available from day one on both the XBox and PS2...which is more important...launching simultaneously or 1-2 years apart. I leave that to you.

"DMC4. Capcom. "Resident Evil 4 is a gamecube exclusive." It's been on 3 other platforms so far. I don't know if DMC4 was ever announced as an exclusive specifically, but I know the 360 version was announced after the PS3. To reiterate: Capcom. Not Konami AND previously shown unreliable about sticking to exclusivity."

More opinion than fact. Further, every DMC game has been PS2 exclusive, barring the terrible PC ports which had zero effect on PS2 sales. Whether Capcom is reliable or not is irrelavent...the PS3 lost another exclusive. And, yes, when the game was announced, it was announced as a PS3 title.

"Kojima has said there aren't plans to make a 360 version. No plans = Not not working on it."

Kojima does not run Konami. Kojima's team did not port the XBox variants either. Kojima says there are no plans=Kojima and his team have no plans on porting it to the XBox360. Kojima does not decide which platform the game appears on. Again, I would be shocked if Konami did not have a team working on the port as we speak.

Again, this is the atmosphere. You create expensive, big-budget titles...you goal is to sell as much as humanly possible to offset those costs. 11M>4.5M...what point could there possibly be to releaseing it on one console vs the other. None.

I'm sad that you're all too busy arguing about stupid platform and storage related shit to be excited about the fact that it genuinely sounds like they fixed the unbelievably shitty control scheme of the last 3 MGS games! No more laying down in the middle of a firefight you were trying to roll out of? Being able to actually hit someone you were firing at from cover? Being able to move and shoot AT THE SAME TIME?!!! Yeah, I'm so getting this game.

However, whoever is seriously convinced that this is gonna sell 4 million copies is downright deluded. MGS is a niche series with overly complicated menus and controls and West-via-East scripted storylines that veer wildly between poli-sci, sci-fi, and psych 101, peppered with a couple of action set-pieces (and the occasional homoerotic overtone.) Regardless of whether you think the series is overrated hackery or the second coming of Digital Jesus, it lacks the universal appeal necessary to hit those kind of multiplatinum sales figures.

I agree, '4 Million' is seriously optimistic and unrealistic for this type of game. If however, the multiplayer is good, that will help (as it has with Halo2, Gears of War, GRAW, Rainbow 6, and so many other games that have benefitted from excellent multiplayer), but I still don't see more than 2-3 million sold.

But what do I know? I just plan on buying one copy and let the rest of the world do what they will.

Considering the seven million for Metal Gear Solid 2 and the five for Metal Gear Solid 3, I dunno about appeal.

Those gameplay problems you mentioned, though... There's always going to be complications to any game if one doesn't learn the nuances of control.

"I was just wondering why 1 disc is better than more than one."

Because eventually 1 disc becomes 2, becomes 4, becomes 8, becomes 32. I don't think that it'll be that bad this gen, so if you don't watch HD movies, then Sony have indeed jumped the gun for necessity. It's still nice.

To anyone's comment regarding space. Blu-ray doesn't just mean longer/larger games. It means space for developers to encompass not only larger content to the games, but enhanced sound quality, more detail in graphics and a better gameplay experience without sacrificing something somewhere within the make of the game. These are all things that the gamers (past and present) will have to start realizing and eventually accept. The future of gaming is in enhancing the "whole" of the game play experience. At the moment, this all relates to what can be put on a disk. The gaming industry must improve and it seems that one of the ways of improving is through additional space that will allow for things that were not doable or sacrificed in the past. It cannot stay stagnant. The fact that Heavenly Sword is on Blu-ray, doesn't mean the game comparably would be a longer game, but a more enhanced gaming experience through sound, graphic, and gameplay quality. From what I've read, so much was put into not just the graphics, but the sound as well. That is the hype and potential behind Blu-Ray. It is surprising that so many people "refuse" to see the potential and argue HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray and Xbox vs. PS3. It's ridiculous because people argue it to the point as if one company is going to force the other out of business. It will never happen people, because both companies (Microsoft & Sony) are not primarily gaming companies. They will both survive whatever hits they take in the game industry and guess what, continue to exist in the gaming industry. In this case, I would argue that the space of Blu-ray which seems to dwarf the current space of other game disk mediums is better because of what it will allow a developer to start doing. Ah there it is again, "Potential". The developers on a wide-scale are still learning what they will be able to do with the extra space, so it will only get better with time. People want to argue as if there is no tomorrow. Well if there is no tomorrow, why waste time arguing. Look at it this way. As an investor in Blu-ray I felt that, if either HD-DVD or Blu-ray wins out over the other, how long before the gaming world (we the people) would start looking for the next best thing. I think that Blu-ray because of (more space) would have a longer shelf life. So it was not a problem for me to pay for the potential of the extra space.

with the limited, segregated memory of the PS3 thay can blu-ray all they want - the system isn't capable of enhancing the experience to the degree afforded by the storage space.

The best you can hope for is longer games, or more likely - more cut scenes.

Not true - texture maps, for instance: Even if we set a limit on the size of each image, on a higher storage disk, you could have images for say, more types of doors or walls, lowering the repetition often seen in games from level to level. Also, audio can be more varied.

While there mught be a small group of people that might want to argue about disk-access speed variance due to location on the higher-capacity disk, there's really no serious disadvantage to more storage unless you don't want to pay for it (in this case, paying more for a blue ray-enabled PS3), which of course, is valid too. But even that goes away with enough market penetration and lowering manufacturing costs.

This game looks amazing. I can understand someone not liking this type of stealth action game, but to say that the series is bad is beyond excuse. MGS has always delivered with storyline, graphics, and gameplay. It is the only game that I can't wait to restart as soon as it's over just to use some of the new techniques I may have learned. If you only like to run around and shoot things, this is not for you.

The PS3 has about 5 million now with no games. Sony missed out last holiday season by having that shortage I'm pretty sure if they had more consoles they would have sold more. 360 has 10 million true but would those 10 million pick it up to make a difference, I’m saying no because despite the games that are coming out this year the beginning of 08 is what every PS3 has been waiting for prepare to watch the PS3 sales boom this holiday destroying any idea that people don't want a PS3. MGS4 is a system seller, and FFXIII is a system seller. 360fanboys are down right becoming shameless as they run out of rocks to throw. PS3 has no games/RFOM (low 9), NG sigma (high 9), motorstorm (high 8), HS (low 8), Warhawk (high 8). We have tons of demos coming in/ wow PS3 just get them 1 week later. OMGZ bioshock, halo 3, Mass Effect/Haze, Unreal tournament, White knight Story, Uncharted, Folklore, Ratchet and Clank, o' wait aren't there multiplatform games too, and all leading in to the real AAA titles in 08 cough* MGS4. LIVE is so much better you don’t have cross game invites or cross game chats or in game music/ hmmm? If the PS3 didn’t get updates you would have made a good point. More online content/ well so your first year was filled with content just like it is now? Well the 360s graphics are better than the PS3 look at the entire multiplatform games/madden 06 to madden 07 which one is better, a year makes a difference but the PS3 is closing the gap. The xenon and the 3 cores are better plus 512mb RAM/ the Cell picks up the RSX slack and Vise versa (even the less inclined computer savvy people can see the points thanks jostiq http://research.scea.com/ps3_deferred_shading.pdf)
wait more isn’t better (its about the PS3 vs. 360 Ram comparison read http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272861)
. the only reason I thought of buying a 360 was because of the exclusive games but since MS releases its games including LIVE arcade on the PC from what I’ve seen is better graphics and more content cough* gears. No more ammo for teh xbots be happy with halo 3 and the teh best line up ever and stop drooling over MGS4.

Will MGS4 sell systems? of course! Some people are basing their entire purchase for this one game. But will it make ps3 a major player and cause them to eventually beat out 360? No. Why? Because it has a limited appeal. It isn't a game that anyone can easily go and play, and while some are saying the story (confusing plot lines and inane dialogue yay!!!) the story can and probably will alienate those who are more mainstream. As I said in another thread, the ps3 needs an exclusive that has the appeal of a GTA game or a Halo game. Games like FF13 and MGS4 are not going to save the ps3. And also you do realize that the more multi-platform games there are, the better chance that consumers will buy a 360 for the 360 version instead of a ps3 for the ps3 version. I mean unless you're a fanboy, why spend more than you have to? Also I think you're one of the last few fanboys in the world to use the ps3's supposed "potential" as a reason why it will be the 360. The fact is, no body really cares about what the ps3 can do besides gaming. I mean to the average consumer, I doubt the fact that the ps3 being able to play Blu-Ray or some other technological bullshit is a major factor in a person's decision.

Ska Oreo its not about the new people or the casual gamers that applies to MGS4. its the 100 million out there with PS2 still. im not saying everyone loves mgs im just saying MGS also has a very big fanbase just like halo 3. True gamers who are willing to gets use to the controls will pick it up(Story just wikipedia it), noobs will pick it up just because everyone else is playing it (thats why i bought FF7 and MGS1 for the PS1 and i came to find out i like them both).
