Podcast Rodeo for Sept. 23: Ear of a Black Hat

The Wiire: We think The Wiire serves as a really good example of what a fancast should be. Instead of just covering the Wii and Wii-related items, the crew covers all of video games from a Wii fan's point of view. Of course, Wii business is discussed, including Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Virtual Console releases. Also, BioShock is discussed.
1UP Yours: Not only is this week's 1UP Yours brought to you from Tokyo, they also add old favorite John Riccardi and Kojima producer Ryan Payton. So what you're going to get is 2 1/2 hours of Tokyo impressions from a lot of different perspectives. It also sounds like a few members of the crew found a stray bottle of sake ... or eight. Of course, no matter what time zone it is, would it be 1UP Yours without drinking?
Joystiq Podcast: Of course, if you want the straight poop on Tokyo Game Show, you've got to come to your friends at Joystiq. Though tragically Justin-free, these two podcasts don't just tell you about TGS, they bring you in. You ARE there! Also, if you were anticipating Dark Sector, you can go ahead and take care of that problem right here.
The BDPE: We just don't get it. How can this podcast be the Best Damn Podcast Ever every time? And if this new episode featuring Sid Meier's kid Ryan Meier is the best, does it negate the title of the last episode? Also in this cast, god bless them, they force one of their teen listeners to go through puberty in one hour. You probably just need to listen.
OK, so that's it for this week. What your favorite podcast?

A podcast without Justin? That's not even a podcast that's an hour of my life I just won't give up.

OK, i feel so SPED right now. How do I download the BDPE?

You know, I got the newest episode off of iTunes.

I'm still a fan of the Penny Arcade podcast, despite the long interim periods between updates. The most recent one is literally just them talking about boobs for half an hour. Quality.

I actually just recently discovered the joy/nerdiness of video game podcasts. I love all the 1up stuff, I just wish Retronauts would happen more frequently. Great alternative to music when you're at the gym. Are the joystiq/fanboy ones worth checking out?

I produce the Joystiq Podcast, and I give you my solemn promise that you'll like it. If you don't ... well, we'll try harder.

Justin says he promises you'll like it yet at least once per episode they say how crazy it is that people like it.

I hate even the word podcast.

Can anyone tell me what the opening and ending themes for the Joystiq Podcast are? I would really like to pick those 2 songs up off iTunes.
Justin McElroy @ Sep 23rd 2007 11:59PM
The opening is "Get Ready for Love" by Nick Lowe. The outro music is "Red Eye" by Ben Kweller. Glad you like them so much, they've always been favorites of mine.
Dyslexic Chaos @ Sep 24th 2007 12:03AM
Don't you mean Nick Cave? At least that's what I found it under. Haha, thanks Justin! BTW, loved the intro to the newest podcast, that was hilarious, haha.

I just like how this article references "Fear of a black hat".
I love that movie.

I recommend the GWJ (Gamers With Jobs) weekly video game podcast.
