Skate is an incredible game. They seem to have caught the spirit of skating with this one. Physics is superb, the resulting moves are believable. The controls are really spot on and after a brief period of getting used to it, controls totally make sense. Go grab the demo, it is there for you appreciate. I just turn on the demo and skate for no good reason, one hour a day at least. The demo is time limited, but it is very generous, it leaves you on a skate park full of things to entertain you. Graphics are gorgeous, there is even motion blur to give you a good sense of speed. The skater fills a lot of the screen, some people say this makes it hard to see what is coming in front of you. They are partilly right, but you get used to it and later on appreciate the fact that this allows you to see every little move of the skater, which is what this game is all about. Can't wait to get the full version.

The Skate demo didn't rock me, neither did Tony Haw or any of the demos that dropped last week I really appreciate demos though, really helps me filter out the BS (like the Darkness, thanks for that one). I'm kinda on the fence on getting Halo this week. I'll probably check it out at a friends house, and if it's Halo 2.5 like I expect it to be, its back to Warhawk. Asia, get ready for Warhawk, it's a BARN BURNER!!!

If you actually skate (or at least skated) you instantly recognize why this game is leaps and bounds better than Tony Hawk. Not that being "real" is necessarily better, but skate captures the true rewards of skating: skill, progression, accomplishment. When I'm done playing skate I'm pumped to actually go skate. When I'm done playing Hawk I just laugh at how ridiculous and impossible everything is.

For me, skate is a way bigger deal than console FPS #345 (aka Halo).

I'll also pick up FIFA 08 once its released here.

I love Skate. And I didn't notice any framerate issues (WOW, things are changing)

FIFA 08 and Skate should keep me happy until Uncharted,R&C and Haze come out.

I played the skate demo its unreal leaves Tony Hawk for dead. And also the controls makes much more sense to a casual player of skate games since i only play hawk everynow and again, as if you dont know the controls its sucks.

loved Skate's gameplay, but the framerate was shocking... 70% of the time it was running smooth, the rest of the time it was a slideshow... :(

would definitely purchase it if it runs better than the demo!

Same as most comments, really impressed with Skate! Im no skater or anything similar, but found it was fun and rewarding, the tutorial was geniunely helpful and introduced fun elements of the game to you straight away rather than just going through what all the buttons do and telling you to go off and do it all.
It wasnt one of the few titles i was expecting to be bothered about (looked impressive, but so what) and now im geniunely tempted by it, but will probably try and convince a mate to buy it who's more into that sorta thing, and a better look at it on the whole might push me to buy it.

@copolice

you don't like dirt because it's more simulation and less arcade yet you anticipate GT5...a simulation driving experience?

maybe you should play the previous GT before creaming your pants?

I went in trying the Skate demo very skeptically, thinking it would be another meh tony hawk wanna-be... but wow, i was very suprised.. it really feels more realistic with the new control set-up. I was completely done with the Tony Hawk series and the demo for proving grounds only confirmed how I was over that ish.. BUT I'M SOLD ON SKATE and it a purchase for me now. Soundtracks good too...

Skate is so much more like a sim. You cant just pull off tricks from any angle you want and chain together multiple grinds all over the place. In Tony's game its like an arcade game that allows you do crazy tricks all over the place fun but not realistic. Liked TH for a long time but I want Skate for the challenge.
