Impressive homemade Master Chief costume at Halo launch NYC

Cush's friend Tom isn't afraid to give some more details, "It started with the helmet, then one thing led to another and now he's got the armor, flag, plasma grenades and guns." He estimates that the whole thing set his friend back about two to three thousand dollars. Hell, if it gets him on-air with Major Nelson we're sure it'll be worth it. Bungie says they have their own Master Chief showing up soon -- yeah, but it means more when somebody does something like this out of love.

Cool costume, but "isn't he a little short to be a Spartan"?
MooseMuffin @ Sep 24th 2007 4:36PM
I'm Master Chief, I'm here to rescue you.

Nice suit, but those hands look tiny.
HineyWipe @ Sep 24th 2007 4:34PM
Is it a spider?
Neebs @ Sep 24th 2007 4:43PM
Yes.

"I want to be buried in it. They'll dig me up 10,000 years from now and say, 'He must have been king.'"
So funny. I can't imagine a world where people believe Master Chief to be a king.
Oh wait...
GRANTED @ Sep 24th 2007 4:39PM
dont imagine. believe.

Paul P. @ Sep 24th 2007 4:44PM
That's a really cool costume. His left arm looks like it has a piece loose though.
I hear people are lining up for this game right now. I just have to say, if you are lining up early for this game you are a moron. The game has a print of 8 million copies! Every store will have upwards of a hundred copies. Finding this game will not be difficult, it isn't like a new console where every store only has 20 or so at most. Don't waste your time lining up! YOU WILL FIND A COPY EASILY!
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 24th 2007 4:45PM
Some people want to play at midnight tonight, and not wait 12 more hours.
Paul P. @ Sep 24th 2007 4:46PM
Yeah, but no reason to line up any earlier than 11 for something like that. Why would you waste an entire day sitting around for a game you are guaranteed to get anyway? What are you gonna save, twenty minutes? Is that worth 8 hours?
megaStryke @ Sep 24th 2007 4:50PM
Most stores are holding events and LAN matches and fun games and shit. I think all that's worth a couple of preemptive hours, don't you think?
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 24th 2007 4:45PM
They're giving away the Diorama figurines there, too.
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Sep 24th 2007 6:08PM
Seriously?!
Man I would like to see the diorama better yet it should be in Disneyworld,Epcot to be more precise.
Universal or Disney should do a Halo the ride sort of thing, like the MIB stuff.
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 24th 2007 6:32PM
Yeah, I told Larry aka Major Nelson I would kill for one of them. hehe. I may go back later, but already it's a madhouse at Best Buy.
NATO_Duke @ Sep 24th 2007 4:45PM
Dad? WTF?!
LAboy @ Sep 24th 2007 4:47PM
lolz
rdj75 @ Sep 24th 2007 4:49PM
In situations like this, fans don't look at it as wasting time, they look at it as something cool that they would like to be a part of while having fun at the same time, also meeting and possibly making new friends. I can respect that
WiNG @ Sep 24th 2007 5:02PM
yeah I mean nobody doubted they would get a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Spoilerz, but they waited because
1. There were a lot of release parties
2. They wanted to know the ending before it got spoiled (same applies to Halo)
3. The same stupid reason people make "FIRST!!!!1!" posts on internet blog comments.
joeyg @ Sep 24th 2007 5:02PM
a store near my job is already selling them. sucks to be the people waiting in line.
horngreen @ Sep 24th 2007 5:11PM
Normally i would scream NERD but I have to give this guy some credit. Sure 2-3 grand on some plastic leggings might seem like a waste but you can't take it with you so why not spend it on something you are obsessed with. Certainly better than 2-3 grand on some lame ass Killzone 2 outfit...ZING/BURN!
Rapture @ Sep 24th 2007 5:16PM
Im surprised no one has mentioned the REALLY hot girl in one of the screenshots, anyone know who she is?
joeyg @ Sep 25th 2007 1:02PM
i suppose any girl is really hot to you? she's not hot.
Rob @ Sep 24th 2007 6:53PM
dude, you need to get out more. She's a 7 at best.
maylon @ Sep 24th 2007 5:27PM
I am 6'9", wish I had a costume like that, I would look better than that dude, hes like 5"8
Mabui @ Sep 24th 2007 5:36PM
That is a pretty amazing effort, hopefully he gets at least his money back for it on Ebay, though I imagine it might be somewhat hard considering it is tailor fit for him.

Actually I would like to see how he did his costume.
Scott @ Sep 24th 2007 6:30PM
He was at the Halo 2 launch at the Toys R Us in Times Square in 2004. He looks MUCH better than the official Master Chief and he has the FLAG! And he doesn't run back inside after 10 minutes!
I actually interviewed him for a cheesy documentary I was doing for college at the time about Video Games. Nice guy. He chatted with whoever came up to him, posed for pics whatever people wanted.
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 24th 2007 6:33PM
I saw him with his helmet off. He even looks like a Marine (blonde buzz cut, etc.)
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 24th 2007 6:39PM
Um, no.
Have issues, do we?
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 24th 2007 6:34PM
Here is a classic case of projection. Or, in other words, "The fox is always first to smell his own hole."
Geist @ Sep 24th 2007 7:13PM
Very cool, and quite well made, as far as I can tell. Damn though, thousands of dollars? Really? That makes me sadder than watching Warhammer tabletop players.
More disposable income than you since ever.
religiousjedi @ Sep 24th 2007 8:53PM
Nice dedication.
But thousands of dollars to create a suit he will most likely only wear once, while he waits in line to pick up a $60(plus?)game?
:l
The mind boggles. Hopefully, he uses it for Hallow.
blooh (CDF - Ass Ring) @ Sep 24th 2007 9:36PM
hopefully he doesnt gain 50 pounds before he dies...
