We're already in agreeance that Oboro Muramasa Youtouden is one of the best-looking games announced for the Wii -- we shook hands on it, signed the appropriate forms, and even had a notary stamp the papers to make it official. Still, this first video glimpse of the 2D ARPG managed to leave us in a state of ecstasy, our skin alive with pleasure. What secret resource has Vanillaware tapped into that other developers have so far ignored? Most of the titles we saw at the Tokyo Game Show didn't look half as good as this.
TGS07: Oboro Muramasa Youtouden looks even better in motion

I really don't know what to say about this one. Yeah it looks good but the video also looks just like the opening scene. I'll wait for some actual in game footage before jumping on this band wagon.

*drools*. looks amazing, and fun to boot. @ Jeremy: there was tons of in game footage in that vid, both of running through the levels and of a bunch of the boss battles.

I'm pretty sure the latter 3rd of the trailer is in-game. I for one find my self torn with Vanillaware's games thus far. They are absurdly beautiful and well written well beyond the majority of it's peers, yet, at least in my experience with Odin Sphere, the gameplay is utterly repetitive, drawn out far too long, and very lacking in variety.
I have hope that this game will fix at least some of the most major problems with Odin Sphere, and from what I can see the game seems to include one thing already that was sorely missing (at least until the final bosses at least) in Odin Sphere: platforming. Although unlikely, it would be nice if they did away with the whole 'sphere' concept in general since it merely gives an excuse for excessive repetition. I'd much rather have a game from them that was 10 hours long and never lets itself get repetitive than something drawn out for 40 or 50 hours or more and makes you more or less play through the same game 5 times before you get to see the conclusion.
I'm curious as to how (or if) they'll utilize the wiimote. I can only hope it's not mindless waggle to approximate sword slashing... really though I'm having a hard time imagining a genuinely interesting use of the wiimote's capabilities with a strictly 2D platformer.

Looks awesome, I'm excited about seeing how the ARPG elements mesh with the platforming: should be some cool stuff. The visuals are definitely awesome. Have to agree: how can they put three-dimensional remote sensing in a 2d game? I have got to see what they come up with.

Thank you Vanillaware for proving once and for all that 2D games are not dead. I want this so bad.

Looks cool, but it doesn't show very much interesting stuff gameplay-wise.
