Lawrence, you make SOny owners look bad...
Fernando Rocker, you're wrong, i only paid $400 CAD for my PS3 (60gig not the 20) and I got motorstorm with it for $20, not a great game but whatever...

And I haven't bought a single multiplatform game on my PS3 or Lair yet I still have plenty of games to play, between Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Warhawk and Heavenly Sword, I don't even have to try to justify my purchase...

What I find most odd about some of the above comments is that it hardly seems possible that they know that Halo is a piece of shit because they couldn't have played it yet. To all you people who doubt, how about some honest criticism with your own words born of experience from playing the game, instead of blind speculation or regurgitating the opinion of others like some little girl's doll with a pull string? As for standing in line, if you showed up at the 24 hour Meijer's in Cincinnati you could have easily waltzed in and picked one up, hell you can probably still do it now. Thank god the powers that be didn't keep supply down to artificially increase demand; I think there will be PLENTY of copies out there to be had over the course of the next couple of days.

Yo how did you get a PS3 for $400 CAD, was it fake or what. Because I live in Canada too and the cheapest PS3 is $499.

Why the heck didn't you preorder the game first, or at least make sure the place you were going to was actually holding a midnight launch?

I'm sorry, but but why do you feel the need to show off you were completely unprepared for the Halo 3 launch?

Well what the hell is he thinking showing up for a midnight launch about 15 minutes before-hand? If there was going to be one, he would have been even more bummed to know he missed a place in line, by a few hours.

When I waited in line for my Wii the night it came out at Super Wal Mart, I got there 6 hours early, and managed to make it as 3rd to last one in line. The next two spots filled up within 5 minutes, and a handful got turned around after that. And then at about 11:30, a bunch of dumb yokels showed up, almost coordinatedly together, and were expecting to get a Wii.

Well, I'll be picking up my reserved copy of Halo 3 today after my classes. Hopefully no scratches!

At any rate, for those who are teh Sony fanboyz, as much as I love my PS2, PS3 isn't gonna start catching up with the 360 or Wii until they get some big titles (MGS4, GTA, FFXIII), which is sad, since those titles aren't coming out until what, two years after the launch of the system? And even at this point, GTA is multiplatform (and sounds better on the 360 to me with episodic condent), and God only knows if Kojima or Squeenix decides to go multiplatform.

The only reason I picked 360 over PS3 is because its got some decent games out and ones coming out. Why would anyone buy a system with no games to play? There's no reason to buy! 360 for the win!

Here in Mexico, my brother just went yesterday to the nearest Blockbuster at 11 P.M and 15 minutes later he was playing Halo 3.

So no problems at all here.

Went to Walmart in Fairfax, VA around 11:30 last night with a buddy, not really expecting much of a line or them to sell out. I was wrong on both accounts. So got up at 7:30 this morning, hit up Target. No line, only like 6 people showed up before the store opened.

UK D-Day tonight. No retailer can give me a price. At the moment, the cheapest I'm looking at for Halo 3 Collectors Edition is £39.99 from Currys Digital, however GAME say they may undercut the price. PRICE WAAAAAAAR!

I didn't bother trying to get the game. My console died(RROD) on the 7th(3rd one). Didn't receive the box until the 14th. They received my box on the 19th. Now I'm waiting for them to return it. No sense in buying H3 if I don't have a box to play it on.

I was told my local GameStop was having a midnight opening. So, having my copy pre-ordered and fully paid for, I figured that I could just mozy on in in the morning to pick it up. I get there around 8:15AM, figuring they were open. Alas they were closed. For some reason I thought that the store would just stay open after midnight, I was wrong. Not that I could play anyway, I had to go to school.

Most people who like the game aren't freaks about it. I don't know how you could own a 360 and not buy Halo 3. There are just so many different well done features in it. Can't wait until work is done.

I was at a GameStop for the Halo 2 launch and spent hours waiting in line after preordering. There was no way I was wasting my time like that again. Around 12:30 I showed up at Best Buy to see what a mess it was and if there was any chance I could easily get it. There seemed to be a line going to customer service, and up to the front door. I decided to go inside and check it out. When I walked in there was probably about 50 people in line...they were the preorders. I didn't have a preorder and was able to walk right up to the registers where there was no line whatsoever and buy a copy. I was in and out in less than five minutes without a preorder, while others had to wait hours. I found it ironic and to be further proof to NEVER PREORDER.

Well that depends if it was a vanilla edition duh, there are enough for everyone in fact I'm sure you could still get a Limited edition with no sweat. I’m sure most of the pre-orders were for the legendary edition.

In my case I pre-order it from a place relatively near from my work, is not a store specialized in games so they told me only 3 persons had pre-ordered the game, all legendary editions.

I have to disagree with you on the preorder part. never preorder from BestBuy maybe. I preordered the legendary edition from Amazon.com last November when they were selling it for $99. I saved myself $30 by ordering it early, then spent $15 on overnight shipping, so I'll still be playing it tonight cheaper than most other people paid for the Legendary version.

It all just depends on where you order it from.

Yeah, I remember when the first Xbox came out and all anyone talked about was original Halo and how great it was. So when I jumped ship from the Sony side this time around and got my 360, I picked Halo up to see what all the fuss was about. I enjoyed it, but didn't think it was mind-shattering.

And I told myself for the longest time that I wasn't going to fall prey to the Halo 3 hype, but then I caved last month and made a preorder because I didn't want to miss out. So it goes. I'm sure I'll enjoy it once it gets delivered to me today and I have no regrets. It was fun being a part of the hype, actually. Sometimes it's fun just to go ahead and give in and not act like a holier-than-thou dick just because you think hype is silly - and that's not a slam against anyone here, but merely a comment on my own previous feelings.

I wanted to get in and out with my Haloz, so my friends and I went to what I predicted to be the dark horse of the midnight launches, and I was right. There were maybe 25 people at the most in line, and that's not even the best part. In the flyer for the store, we saw that they were having a costume contest, and we immediately looked around and saw absolutely no one dressed up. Then my quick thinking friend went to our other friends car and got a poncho out of the car that just happened to be the same color green as MC himself. He put the poncho on and then made a mask out of the bag that it came in. There was one other "costume" which was just a guy with two Master Chief action figures electrical taped to his shoulders. As you can probably guess, my friend ended up winning, even though his was the worst costume ever. His prize? A Legendary edition (well, second worst, compared to the other guy). We ended up not having to buy the game (we're roommates), so I bought the Spartan 360 controller, which is really slick.

And that is my Haloz story.

But I don't live in the nicest of places and the thought that a band of halo3 launch raiding bandits were out and about had me go to sleep early. it didnt help knowing someone was killed a few streets down that same night. now i wait until 9pm to get out of work.

Arrived at my GameStop in Southwest Houston at about 9:30pm. Position was about 7-8. First few people were holders of one of our locations 6 total Legendary Editions. By 12:00 there were probably around a hundred people lined up down the shopping strip.

Most people were friendly, and there were at least 10 DS's out and about (all Lite's save one pink phat). We commenced some Mario Kart download play which was a lot of fun.

GameStop was pretty organized, and unlike Halo 2, we got Halo 3 right at 12:01. (for Halo 2 at the same location we had to wait until about 1:00am--major disappointment).

The first person in line had their Scion xB (yeah, that big box car) backed in to the parking spot right across from the GameStop entrance. As soon as he got his copy of the game he popped open the trunk, revealing a TV and 360. Crowds gathered as he announced "Opening scene of Halo 3, right here!!"

After my friends and I got our copies we played until about 6:30am, at which point we completed the campaign on 4 player co-op Heroic.

Overall good night.

I avoided the same Wal-Mart fiasco... but only because I spent 2h 20m on the damn phone with them on Saturday!

I too saw the Midnight release information on Wal-Mart.com and thought 'oh great, I can get a copy Monday night to play while my LE version comes from BestBuy.com shipped". But something inside of me on Saturday said 'call the store to double check".

So I called 3 stores near me. Not only was it painful to even find a person that understood my question or had the ability to answer me in English, none of the employees had any real clue as to the Midnight launch and none would let me talk to a Manager to get the 411.

So I decided to call customer care. 30 minutes on the phone with Wal-Mart customer care returned nothing more than a CS rep just as frustrated as I was because she couldn't even get an employee that had a clue at the same stores. One of them even told her 'Halo comes out in October.'

So then I'm sent to Wal-Mart.com Customer Care... another 30 minutes and that side of the house aknowledges the Midnight launch, but has no idea which stores, since that is a seperate side of the business.

I'm then sent BACK over to normal Customer Care and I go through the entire story again. Someone finally has the intelligence to look up the memo about the event and states 'this is a national event and all stores will be open'. For some reason I don't believe her.

So I call the local store one more time. I wait 15 minutes for a manager and once he gets on the phone he says 'yeah we aren't going to be open. Corporate sent a letter saying only stores that are already 24hours need to open'.

So Im like .. ok those are 3 hours away (mind you, there are 4 WM's within 10 miles of me, just none 24hours)

Wal-Mart did a piss-poor job setting this up and explaining on thier site the limitations. Heck, I was even able to 'setup' my crew via their site and invite people to meet me at a store that wasn't even going to be open 24 hours!

Horrible experience, Im glad I did not show up in person.

Now remind me again why Halo 3 is worth going to a midnight release for? :p

I did pick up a copy at BestBuy last night at midnight, however, I also asked a few 7-11 stores on the way to the BestBuy if they were selling Halo3 at midnight, and despite BIG POSTERS stating that they were RIGHT ON THE FRONT DOOR, the douchebags working there knew nothing about it--not to be racial, but BOTH stores I went to were arab/indian/pakistani or some type, barely spoke proper english, and 2 of the 3 said they were new employees (same store for those 2) and I'd have to ask their manager tomorrow morning at 9am. To summarize, I feel that 7-11 just engaged in false advertising, and F**K 7-11.

Waited in line at Wal-Mart JUST FOR THE DOG TAGS, and then found out that they weren't getting any Legendary Editions (Plus the Dog Tags were so awful, with Wal-Mart branding all over it) so I went home angry as hell. Then got mine next day at EB Games (where I reserved it) in like 10 minutes... Kinda happy but my dog tags suck.
