Behold! The gorgeous Metroid Wii mod
Have you seen anything that's been totally awesome today? How about totally rad? Or totally sweet? What if we told you that an object had been fashioned that was not only all three of those adjectives, but required the dipping into the vernacular of the 80s to summon up ... "tubular"? Behold, for this Metroid-based Wii mod is just such an object.
Ramon, of the God of War PSP mod fame, is back with this gorgeous addition to his canon, currently up for grabs on eBay. As with his last piece, a portion of the proceeds are going to benefit Child's Play. So dig down, bid hard, and get yourself a big chunk of awessweetubularad.

I think this is pretty cool as far as following elements from Metroid. What I don't understand is what that thing on the base on the logo side is. The charging stand is on the opposite side. But the side in the pic just has some thing that looks kind of goofy? It looks like it's charging a battery pack or something. Is it to hold the nunchuck?
KrazyIan @ Sep 26th 2007 4:27PM
Holy shit thats awesome.
Mabui @ Sep 26th 2007 4:27PM
That is very good looking, I wouldn't want it as my Wii, but I wouldn't mind it in a glass case someplace.
NaeemTHM @ Sep 26th 2007 4:29PM
DO WANT.
Mr Khan @ Sep 26th 2007 4:30PM
Holy hell
If only i had money to piss away on something other than games themselves
Foxwind @ Sep 26th 2007 4:31PM
*paws at it*
Gavin @ Sep 26th 2007 4:34PM
Looking back at the online hype for Metroid, it was absolutely dwarfed by the impact of the Halo 3 launch. Amazingly enough, MS was able to steal Nintendo's thunder in a massive way when it came to the battle of the anticpated shooters. In retrospect, Nintendo didn't even come close.
SoulBlade @ Sep 26th 2007 4:36PM
Nintendo doesn't have the same millions to spend on marketing.
Plus, they were already in the red. That's what happens when you don't make billion dollar mistakes.
upz @ Sep 26th 2007 4:44PM
You mean already in the black.
And Gavin, your comment had close to nothing to do with the post. I voiced my distaste, but at the very least I made it relevant. You are just a meanie.
arrrgh @ Sep 26th 2007 4:47PM
I don't get what that has to do with a case mod? yay for pointless nintendo bashing!! good job gavin
TwEE @ Sep 26th 2007 5:13PM
If only moutain dew came out with some Metroid branded flavors...that would be a thinking man's pop, I could drink it and become totally hardcore.
Lemmiwinks @ Sep 26th 2007 5:42PM
Looking back, this post had absolutely nothing to do with game sales. Go soak your head.
vidGuy @ Sep 26th 2007 5:50PM
If only Nintendo needed to put millions into primetime ad-campaigns, product tie-ins, and big-freaking signs on every street corner to sell a game...
NATO_Duke @ Sep 26th 2007 6:03PM
Gavin - You must be fanboy of the day. A Halo commentary on something that didn't invite it at all. Congrats on that.
Anywho, the mod looks pretty cool!
bm @ Sep 26th 2007 10:32PM
I don't know why everybody voted him down (well I guess it was offtopic, but), he -is- right, Nintendo didn't do anything to sell MP3 compared to the ludicrous over-the-top hype machine erected for Halo 3.
It's a damn shame too, because in the end, MP3 is simply the better game.
NATO_Duke @ Sep 27th 2007 10:28AM
They voted him down because it was a blatent rant with no connection to the topic. An MP being simply a better game would be your opinion, which the critic numbers dont show right now:
Halo3 - Metascore=96
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/halo3
Metroid Prime - Metascore=91
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/metroidprime3corruption
Oh yeah, and there is the fact that the Wii graphic power is way too weak to make the game more visually appealing.
bm @ Sep 27th 2007 4:43PM
lulz graphx lulz!!
Yeah, there's also the fact that Halo's visual design is just way too generic and unimaginative to be visually appealing. I'm sorry, it just doesn't hold a candle.
bm @ Sep 27th 2007 7:45PM
By the way. Let's be very honest with ourselves here: do you really, seriously think that this metacritic score isn't in the SLIGHTEST bit influenced by the absolutely apocalyptic Halo Hype Tsunami that has hit the entire globe?
You don't have to answer. Just think to yourself if that is really what you believe.
Adv2k1 @ Sep 26th 2007 4:34PM
love the console design but i hate controllers look
Drew @ Sep 26th 2007 4:37PM
So freaking awesome
upz @ Sep 26th 2007 4:37PM
Jesus, that thing is as hideous. It looks like a Rastafarian puked all over a Wii and got the guys at Pimp My Ride to glue neon, backlit, spinning Metroid rim on it.
Neebs @ Sep 26th 2007 4:43PM
Ugh, I agree with this post.
finnith @ Sep 26th 2007 5:19PM
Yea he's kinda right
Still better than the Halo 3 Xbox
Almack64 (NOF - Ultrazord) @ Sep 26th 2007 5:40PM
I don't agree but i +1'd you for making me lol. Funny
mental picture.
vidGuy @ Sep 26th 2007 5:52PM
I'm a fan of the Wii and a fan of Metroid but not a fan of this. Talk about chintzy.
Gregory @ Sep 26th 2007 8:52PM
The mod is based on the colors of Samus's suit to stay in line with the metroid theme. What colors would you suggest he use and still stay in line with the theme?
Ialwayschangemyname @ Sep 26th 2007 4:39PM
I should get into the system modding business to cover the cost of tuition. Think about it how many sweetass case mods could you make in 4 months.
vinny @ Sep 26th 2007 4:46PM
that thing is totally disgusting
megaStryke @ Sep 26th 2007 4:59PM
From you, vinny, that's a borderline compliment.
vinny @ Sep 26th 2007 5:21PM
why? im a big metroid fan and i like my wii the way it is, this thing is just nasty looking
megaStryke @ Sep 27th 2007 9:22AM
Because you are a generally negative guy. Squeezing compliments out of you is like getting blood from a stone.
Zertoss @ Sep 26th 2007 4:47PM
So awesome. I wonder if he'll be doing a Wii for Mario Galaxy. He did make that sweet Zelda mod too.
machrc @ Sep 26th 2007 4:54PM
yeah the wii mod for sUpeR MaRio GlAxaY.. would be umm..lol rad..
I agree with the rastafarian comment above.
T3H WICKERMAN @ Sep 26th 2007 5:52PM
UR MR GAY
mfed3 @ Sep 26th 2007 5:00PM
that looks so stupid
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 26th 2007 5:04PM
This is the first totally sweet tubular thing I've seen today, and by the looks of it, at the end of the day it will still be the totally sweetest most tubular thing of the whole day.
DaiMac79 @ Sep 27th 2007 8:24AM
Perhaps he meant the NEW Flash Gordon? That show sucks all kind of ass.
Also, you might be viewing even the original FG with some kind of the-70s-did-not-suck goggles if you still think that was good, go back and watch it again, its pretty silly at best.
Now, as to this mod, its cool but a bit overdone. Now, if the LED started flashing red and the Wii emitted the appropriate sounds to indicate a phazon overload, say when you download something for instance, thats a mod I would be all over, but this just looks like too much. Hope somebody freaks on it and pays way too much though, just because it supports Child's Play.
Wiizull @ Sep 26th 2007 5:19PM
It can't get much gayer than this people. Looks heavily influenced by Flash Gordon!
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 27th 2007 4:14AM
And how is that a bad thing? Flash Gordon is awesome!
Shagittarius @ Sep 26th 2007 5:20PM
The Symbol just looks like it was Duct-tapped on.
bloqmayus @ Sep 26th 2007 5:27PM
that's horrible.
Blazur @ Sep 26th 2007 5:28PM
That would actually be pretty cool if it wasn't super gay. Presently selling for $520.

Heres a great article on the Wii by N'Gai...I think it pretty much backs up Perry's views of the Wii without talking down to Nintendo Fans.

Fatass of Kickassness @ Sep 26th 2007 5:52PM
I fail to see the relevance between your comment and the article.
I'm thinking you`re a twit right now.
Shagittarius @ Sep 26th 2007 6:30PM
I fail to see your relevance on this planet. But here you are...
playwhutyalike @ Sep 26th 2007 7:56PM
There goes Shags 2 Dope spreading some more of that positive energy. What, done playing Halo?
bm @ Sep 26th 2007 10:37PM
That article is one big veiled fanboy crying session. It basically says "the Wii isn't as powerful as the other two consoles, we must bring to light this grave deception of the general public before it's too late!" BAWWWWWWWW let's face it kiddies, everybody already knows and nobody fucking cares, no matter how hard you whine about it.
Shagittarius @ Sep 27th 2007 2:30AM
You mean YOU don't care beacuse you'd rather lie to yourself in your blind fanboyism. All the article is suggesting is that we need to see the Wii for what it is and stop putting it on a pedestal for no good reason.
It also meantions people just like your BM, the people that demand its perfect and lie to themselves.
