Harmonix confirms Amazon Rock Band delay notices are wrong

A representative for Harmonix tells Joystiq, "We have asked Amazon to address this and we'll be coming out November of this year. We've requested they update their information. We have no idea where that date came from." So all those preparing to rock, and especially those that pre-ordered their Rock Band bundle off Amazon, it looks like everything's gonna be all right.

For what it's worth, I recall the preorder list at the local EB Games listing Rock Band as having a November 20th street date. Street dates aren't usually listed on those sheets unless it's fairly official (even if it hasn't been announced publicly yet).

I got an email from best buy saying the date was changed to 11/20/07.

Of course they do...I see release dates all the time that aren't official on those sheets. You should see the one I had printed off several months ago hanging on my fridge.

I'm not saying that half of those dates (or more) aren't either made up or are just their best guess, but VERY few games have a Street Date, and once it's listed as such, it's usually quite official.

obviously an activision mole deep undercover in amazon posted this to sell more copies of the soon to 2nd best guitar hero 3 or Guitar Hero3 the game of boss battles!

Amazon probably just does this to get attention. They did the same with Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and had a release date of something like January 1st, 2010, if I remember correctly. I don't really mind, since it's kinda funny.

As was speculated on the rockband.com forums... perhaps the 8/11 screwup date for next year was really intended to be 11/8 of this year.

Amazon has been dropping the ball pretty badly recently. I've had a lot of order troubles with them. This tuesday I found out my copy of Dethalbum - the 2 cd deluxe version - which I had pre-ordered some time ago, was sold out. Not only sold out but possibly never to come back in stock again. Or possibly to come back. Customer service had no idea and no intention of asking anyone who might have an idea. So I wound up going to Best Buy and getting it there, which turns out was a very rare thing. (its sold out everywhere)
I placed another order last night for an item in stock and when I checked this morning Amazon said the item would be in stock on october 5th - a complete contradiction from what was on their site last night. So I went to check my order status and couldn't get through. I then used their phone service and the csr hung up on me after saying the computers are down, call back later.

Anyone else freak out at the article title? My blog reader cut off the "are wrong" part, which completely changes the meaning of the post :)
