Jack Thompson submits gay porn to court -- judge not amused
Although not exactly linked to his continuing video game related litigation, Jack Thompson submitting gay porn in court documents could certainly impact his ability to practice law in Florida and continue those cases. GamePolitics really has all the details on what's going on here, the backstory gets really complex. The main gist is Thompson believes the Florida Bar, in their continued effort to have him disbarred, is collaborating against him with a gay activist attorney from Miami who owns NationalGayNews (NGN). In a move to discredit this other lawyer, Thompson submitted to the court graphic content from adult entertainment advertisers the NGN links to in an attempt to show that this other lawyer was in the business of distributing "hardcore porn to anyone of any age." Judge Adalberto Jordan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida was not amused -- at all.
Judge Jordan issued an order that Thompson show cause as to why he shouldn't face sanctions or contempt charges for the act. Obviously the judge didn't see the relevance of Thompson's evidence. See, the funny thing is because Thompson submitted these as court documents they are "made available for unlimited public viewing, on the court's docketing system." The images according to Judge Jordan include "several graphic images of oral and genital sex between adult males, [and were] filed electronically in the docket in this case, without prior permission from the court." Thompson now must justify his actions by Oct. 5 as to why he shouldn't be referred to the Florida court's review board. The bizarre thing about all of this -- beyond the porn if you can believe it -- is that Thompson upset the judge who'll decide the case of if the Florida Bar can stop him from practicing law.

Wow....just wow. Right when I thought this scumbag had hit rock bottom. He should be disbarred. What atrocious behavior from somebody who supposudly champions morals and values. How is this of any relevance to his case? Right wingers...when will they learn?

He's not a right winger, he's a psychopath who happens to vote republican.

Zing!
borland502 (SDF - Macross Ring) @ Sep 26th 2007 12:51PM
"That sounds like 99% of Republicans to me."
Then you are a bigger fool then the most reactionary Republican. Insanity, idiocy, or just being an ass needs no political affiliation, gender, race, or creed.
People like Jack Thompson cloak themselves in whatever ideology will garner them the attention, power, and money they crave. Conservatives garner more of that type, but that's because the US leans that way and the route to power is easier.
The same Jack Thompson would be probably have rallied to Mao like a fly on shiate in earlier times and a different country. Self serving people take whatever route they can to power...it gets even worse if they believe in what they are saying.
HenryJonesJr @ Sep 26th 2007 1:14PM
"...whatever ideology will garner them the attention, power, and money they crave. Conservatives garner more of that type..."
Oh really? Neither political side is more or less susceptible to power, attention, or money. Don't believe the hype. Jack Thompson, on the Right, is no more a media whore and attention slut than someone like Gloria Alred, on the Left, is. For every Right-wing wacko you've got a Left-wing equivalent.
samfish (MSDF- Nurse Outfit!) @ Sep 26th 2007 1:21PM
"For every Right-wing wacko you've got a Left-wing equivalent."
No...no. There's definitely more right-wing loons out there in prominent positions and pedestals.
Shit, you've got a whole network devoted to them.
That said, you all best would hope that Jack Thompson doesn't get his license revoked or barred or whatever. He'd probably get a show on Fox or CNN and be able to do more damage than ever.
borland502 (SDF - Macross Ring) @ Sep 26th 2007 1:35PM
"He'd probably get a show on Fox or CNN and be able to do more damage than ever."
Neither network would touch him if he lost his license. He just might be able to find some bandwidth on AM radio.
"Neither political side is more or less susceptible to power"
No political viewpoint is less susceptible, but you will find a concentration in whomever holds power and the popular view. I doubt you find many crazies with Royalist viewpoints in Robspierre's administration. Anyone self-serving will naturally chant viva la revolucion at that point and chop heads off with the rest of the crowd.
Crono (NDF - French Taunting from Holy Grail Ring) @ Sep 26th 2007 1:47PM
"That sounds like 99% of Republicans to me."
You see, its exatly that kind of attitude that keeps meaningful dialog across the isles of congress from happening. Its also that kind of attitude thats lead to the total polarization of this country's political system.
It also means you think 50% of the people in the US are psychopaths.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 26th 2007 1:56PM
Republican or not, 50% of the country voted for Bush after a year and a half in Iraq, so yes, 50% of the country are psychopaths.
samfish (MSDF- Nurse Outfit!) @ Sep 26th 2007 2:05PM
"Neither network would touch him if he lost his license. He just might be able to find some bandwidth on AM radio."
Fox employs Oliver North and Bo Dietl as commentators.
It's not beneath Fox, at least, to bring in people who should be seen as discredited to any thinking person.
Savok @ Sep 26th 2007 2:05PM
Funny how his main political allies are Hilary Clinton and Joe Lieberman then eh?
And well said Borland, people like Jack simply take what they perceive as the easiest path to power.
HenryJonesJr @ Sep 26th 2007 2:53PM
"No...no. There's definitely more right-wing loons out there in prominent positions and pedestals.
Shit, you've got a whole network devoted to them."
Wrong, Samfish. It's only because of your own bias that you say that. The Political Left is LOADED with loons. Just because you happen to agree with them doesn't make them any less looney. Everything doesn't revolve around you and your viewpoints.
HenryJonesJr @ Sep 26th 2007 2:53PM
"Republican or not, 50% of the country voted for Bush after a year and a half in Iraq, so yes, 50% of the country are psychopaths."
Rubang, it's not about voting FOR Bush, it's voting AGAINST the alternative. If Democrats continue to put unlikeable wishy-washy people like John Kerry and Al Gore up there, they're gonna continue to lose regardless of who the Republican is. Says something about the Democratic Party that they couldn't even come up with a candidate that could beat Bush. Watch for the Republicans to win again if they put Hillary up there in '08.
waves @ Sep 26th 2007 3:16PM
At least *insert name of ANY presidential candidate but Bush* can speak in complete sentences.
samfish (MSDF- Nurse Outfit!) @ Sep 26th 2007 3:29PM
First, if Gore runs, he wins. Easily.
"Wrong, Samfish. It's only because of your own bias that you say that. The Political Left is LOADED with loons. Just because you happen to agree with them doesn't make them any less looney. Everything doesn't revolve around you and your viewpoints."
Name them. Go ahead and try. Give me prominent analogs to:
Rush Limbaugh
Ann Coulter
Sean Hannity
Tucker Carlson
Bill O'Reilly
Joe Scarborough
Nancy Grace
Glenn Beck
Wolf Blitzer
John Gibson
James Dobson
Michael Savage
Brit Hume
Jerry Falwell (even though he's dead)
Pat Robertson
Neal Boortz
the Fox & Friends crew
Andrew Napolitano ("The Judge")
Bill Kristol
And THAT'S just off the top of my head and leaving celebrities, generic pundits (Monica Crowley, Mort Kondracke) and bloggers off the list.
No, everything doesn't revolve around what I think. I never suggested it does, either. However, if you're living in the reality based community then you find there are a lot less crazies on the left and if you actually pay attention to them, you find that many of them are FAR more middle of the road, in that they aren't extremists calling for socialism like right-wing crazies paint them as wanting.
Synner @ Sep 26th 2007 5:26PM
Hillary is a socialist.
Gore is a wacko junk science pushing socialist.
Then there's
Ted Turner
Hanoi Jane
Al Franken
Al Sharpton
Jesse Jackson
Michael Moore
Jenean Garafalo
Kim Bassinger
Sean Penn
Rosie Odonnel
The Baldwins
Cindy Sheehan
Ward Churchill
Dan Rather AKA MR. Truth in Reporting
The Entire readership of the Daily KOS
Mr. 2 americas Multimillionare John Edwards
Murderer, and Mr." we need to find alternative power as long as I can't see it from my boathouse" Ted Kennedy
There's "we need a livable wage unless you work for a major contributor to my campaign in american Samoa" Pelosi
Mr. "we already lost this war" Scheming land baron Harry Reid.
Mr. 90k in my freezer jefferson
Mr. rapist women abuser Bill Clinton.
James Carville
Naom Chomsky (another socialist)
The Entire Staff of the new York Times
And if you think Bill O'reilly is a conservative you are an idoit. All you lefties keep trying to call him a radical right wack job, when truth is we don't like him either.
Synner @ Sep 26th 2007 5:30PM
And Seriously, I just noticed Wolfd Blitzer on there... Are you SERIOUS??? he practically sucks off every lib he interviews.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 26th 2007 5:32PM
Samfish is right. Right now the right is 1000x crazier than the left. This is because we don't really have a left anymore. The neocons pulled everything so far to the right that we have some ridiculous super-mega-hyper-right, and... the middle. Where are the crazy neo-super-liberals to balance it out? That's what I'm wondering.
I'm dead serious. I'm the looniest super-liberal there is, and there is no candidate liberal enough for me! Hah!
And concerning Kerry, he was actually in "the shit," unlike Bush, and he can jump higher than Bush, play bass better, run faster, SPEAK IN COMPLETE SENTENCES, and I bet he's even better at Tetris. Bring it!
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 26th 2007 5:37PM
Oh crap, he used the word "socialist" as if it were an insult! Everybody run! Commies are coming to take our payczechs and send us to the coal mines! Capitalism needs no safety net! Let the homeless die! Feed the homeless to the rich!
Hahhhaaha, just joshin' you. Socialism is awesome. It'd be pretty sweet to never pay for health care or school. You can STILL get filthy rich in Canada or Europe. I know. I seen it done!
BACK TO THE TOPIC: JT is dumb lol!
Synner @ Sep 26th 2007 5:39PM
Too bad he can't carry enough electoral votes though huh?
Synner @ Sep 26th 2007 6:10PM
Yeah, JT sucks, but in all honesty, if socialism is so great, why are the british and canadian healthcare systems going broke, and the service so poor?
If I can get the same goods and services not working as the guy who busts his butt, why work? They'll just tax the producers, sort of like they already do in this country.
The government running a business means no competition, no reason to offer a better service or a better price. And really, around where I live it's $90 an hour labor to have someone fix my car, I think my health should be worth 10x that easily, of course I'm in the military and know how shitty government health care is.
HenryJonesJr @ Sep 26th 2007 6:50PM
Thank you Synner for providing that list for me.
"Hahhhaaha, just joshin' you. Socialism is awesome. It'd be pretty sweet to never pay for health care or school."
Yeah Rubang, because those things just pay for themselves, right? Money falls from the sky and provides healthcare and education. You are paying for it, and not only do you pay for it but you also pay for the slackers that work even less than you do. The only real beneficiary is the bum that doesn't work at all and truly gets "free" healthcare and schooling. Great way to encourage laziness! Smart! Penalize the hardest workers! What a great plan for a country's future economic success! Maybe that's part of the reason why the U.S. is the leader of the free world and not these socialist countries you love. Historically, instead of expecting government to take care of us, Americans learned to take care of ourselves (unfortunately that's quickly changing). Capitalism encourages hard work, innovation, and dedication, and provides success to those willing to make the effort. What it doesn't do is take care of the unwilling, and that's perfectly fine by me.
Synner @ Sep 26th 2007 7:21PM
What he said
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 26th 2007 8:43PM
So are you both lazy as fuck and admitting that if there was free health care and free school you'd quit your jobs and just sit around and do nothing all day? You know there's more to life than health care and school, right? Health care and school should be free and guaranteed for all. Anything less than that is a huge embarrassment, especially when the cost of living rises faster than the minimum wage.
Everything ELSE will still cost money, so everybody will still have jobs. How else are we going to afford all the video games that are coming out this Christmas? Socialism wouldn't pay for that. Right now the government's paying for my school, and my school's paying for my health care, and I'm still working my ass off. So shut up, all of yous. Have fun retiring with no social security 'cuz our country's too scared of communism to take care of its own taxpaying citizens.
Synner @ Sep 26th 2007 9:10PM
I don't care about socailism security. I don't need the government telling me how to plan for my retirement, and those that only rely on SS are the ones ending up eating dog food anyway. Take a look at that constitution thing and you'll see there that there was a little remark about no tax on income in the original. The first socailist president FDR had to get an amendment passed to support his "Immoral" war, I mean after all, Germany and Italy never attacked us, why did we go fight over there?
My comments were about a completely socialist society, and really, I'm glad your school is free (meaning I pay for it, are you ever going to pay me back?) I never said I'd quit working if we got free health care and school, only that I don't want to pay for those that do.
It's grand that you bust your ass, but how about instead of buying video games and internet service to post on message boards, you put a few bucks toward your tuition, health care, or retirement and quit expecting me to pay for it.
Besides, look how awesome the government public school system is: is that how you want health care and college as well?
I'm not sayig I'm a heartless uncharitable fuck, but why does the Gov't get to decide who I help out? What if I don't want to give free education to those with below a certain High School GPA, well that's not fair is it, but the Gov't won't care. What if I don't think people who are addicted to drugs should get health care courtesy of the sweat off my brow? Guess what? the Gov't doesn't care. How about the obese who keep stuffing McDonald's into their fat asses? or the chronic smoker? Why do I have to pay for all their heart problems they are bringing on themselves?
Why not grow up and take a lool around at how rich people got rich, very few of them inherited it, and those that are unmotivated to work as hard as the majority of self-made millionaires don't deserve what those people earned.

Please do not post any more stories about his videogame antics, because it gives him credibility and standing as a videogame activist in the eyes of the mainstream media.
