I hope Big the Cat is in this game.
Poisoned Al @ Sep 27th 2007 12:08PM
It kinda looks like Mario is flipping the bird in that pic.
N.Y.C Dragoon L.E.S @ Sep 27th 2007 1:33PM
I was thinking the same thing when I looked at the picture.
NaeemTHM @ Sep 27th 2007 12:11PM
If this game had come out 12 years ago it would have been the biggest selling game.....EVER.
Plus all those school yard feuds would have been solved.
Sean @ Sep 27th 2007 12:19PM
That reminds me of Billy Madison.
"Mortal Kombat on the Sega Genesis is the best video game ever."
"I disagree, it's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever."
"Donkey Kong sucks."
"You know something? YOU SUCK!"
jsn @ Sep 27th 2007 12:12PM
is this going to be different in execution from Rayman on the Wii?
Shagittarius @ Sep 27th 2007 12:13PM
It has Mario.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 27th 2007 1:49PM
Actual competitive multiplayer instead of just waggling at the same time, so yeah. Rayman was fun, but you beat it in an hour or 2 and never want to play it again, multiplayer or not. At least this game is based entirely on the multiplayer.
samfish (MSDF- Nurse Outfit!) @ Sep 27th 2007 12:16PM
Fencing could potentially make this game absolutely worth buying.
Mario vs Sonic in a duel...TO THE DEATH!
Virtua Fanboy @ Sep 27th 2007 12:29PM
IT IS OFFICIAL: Hell has frozen over for anyone who gamed in the 90's. lol
FOXHOUND @ Sep 27th 2007 12:40PM
I said the same thing about Capcom vs SNK... and Fighters Megamix. LoL.
ha ha, "skeet" competition.
AstroZombie @ Sep 27th 2007 1:24PM
After all these years, the single most important question in the history of gaming will finally be answered:
MARIO VS. SONIC... WHO SHOOTS THE BEST SKEET?
Almack64 (NOF - Ultrazord) @ Sep 27th 2007 2:18PM
To all skeet skeet skeet skeet skeet skeet
all skeet skeet, got, i got what?
LiasonAngel08 @ Sep 27th 2007 12:29PM
Uhh I don't know what to think of this game.
I don't think I'll be getting it but I hope it does okay in sales.
I definitely dont expect it to reach the ridiculous amount predicted by that guy a few days ago...lol.
Just give Brawl with some REAL Online with Leaderboards and Lobbies and I'd be happy Nintendo. Yes I'm glad you put in Online in some form but I'd rather you give us the whole damn pie rather than a puny slice.
Kazi @ Sep 27th 2007 2:13PM
I'm curious, why do people care about leader boards?
Lobbies I understand, it makes joining a game easy and fast, but leader boards? Who gives a shit?
Mr Khan @ Sep 27th 2007 5:59PM
well, i feel the opposite way, i say Leaderboards > Lobbies, i think that choosing a game to join is irrelevant (as opposed to random assignment), unless you're choosing amongst friends, while i like leaderboards because its like the old "High Score" readouts in arcades, but for the whole country/world to see
Kiros @ Sep 27th 2007 12:34PM
Shooting - Skeet
Really? This should be fun lol
Sean @ Sep 27th 2007 2:13PM
Furry heaven.
samfish (MSDF- Nurse Outfit!) @ Sep 27th 2007 2:37PM
The Sonic universe has been furry heaven for a loooooooong time now.
Sean @ Sep 27th 2007 3:55PM
The addition of skeet to the Sonic universe must be Heaven: Beyond, then.
Pal @ Sep 27th 2007 12:47PM
Yoshi is a speed type? He is pretty fast in Super Mario World when he gets hurt, such a pain to chase him (Yoshi falls into a bottomless pit... "Nooooooooo!!").
I don't have a Wii, but I'm very curious about this game. The Olympics isn't really the genre that I fantasized as a kid for the ultimate dream match, but I'm open to new ideas. Last Olympics game I played was Nagano Winter Olympics '98; I'm due for my ten year overhaul.
We're getting steps closer to having Sega characters in the next Super Smash Bros., exciting stuff.

Kazi @ Sep 27th 2007 2:15PM
Yoshi's always been the speed type in Mario Sports games and MarioKart.
BlackTye @ Sep 27th 2007 1:14PM
This game actually has me intrigued. My ten year old self is freaking out.
SirMal @ Sep 27th 2007 1:16PM
FUCK YES YOU ARE THE BEST ROSTER EVER!
Neuropod @ Sep 27th 2007 1:20PM
Wait, why is VECTOR there? Is there a "find the computer room" event?
David @ Sep 27th 2007 1:26PM
Yeah I'm not exactly excited about playing Vector =P They should have had Metal Sonic as a strength character!
Anyway, this sure is great finding out the roster all at once. --Stop toying with me, Smash Brothers!--
Jay @ Sep 27th 2007 1:20PM
They have fencing and went with epee instead of foil or saber? what the heck ... epee is slowing and boring -- it was the choice of foppish nobles. Blah.
Then again, I'm saying this as if a Mario/Sonic fencing mini-game will have any resemblence to real fencing.
Terry @ Sep 27th 2007 2:06PM
I'm particularly worried that Epee has got a rather "in-out" motion to it, and that "moving the Wii remote closer and further from the screen" mechanic has so far not worked very well, IMHO.
Jay @ Sep 27th 2007 2:09PM
That's a really good point about epee! Sabre might have been a better choice -- it's fast, and you can kind of whip the controller a bit more.
Almack64 (NOF - Ultrazord) @ Sep 27th 2007 2:22PM
@Terry and Jay
It depends on whether they would use the accelerometers or ir sensors to track the in/out movement. The accel's have proven not to work so well, but MP3 proved that, that motion can be tracked perfectly using the ir sensors.
Myth @ Sep 29th 2007 1:34PM
I fail to see how Daisy is in the speed class.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 27th 2007 2:00PM
Oh she's fast alright. A little too fast, if you catch my drift. ::growl sound::
Sorry.
Crono (NDF - French Taunting from Holy Grail Ring) @ Sep 27th 2007 2:06PM
":growl sound:"
Its spelled: Preowwww!
AstroZombie @ Sep 27th 2007 4:30PM
I hear she's one of the judges in the skeet-shooting contest, along with Daisy and... TAILS!?!? WTF!?!
Matthew @ Sep 27th 2007 1:57PM
Seriously... Tails in the skill class?
...i mean, when was the last time you played sonic 2? Tails fucks everything up, especially in the bonus stages... I think these "classes" need to be fixed
...and now that this has been announced, when are they announcing sonic in Brawl?
Almack64 (NOF - Ultrazord) @ Sep 27th 2007 1:58PM
Other than Sonic and Shawdow the speed type entrants are kind of interesting.
This whole thing was meh to me until I saw the player select... Then something inside of me just leaped with joy...I think I found my lost inner child. Who cares if its an Olympic game.
In any case who is green guy in the power type. It kind of looks like a kremling but if that's the case why wouldn't they just put Donkey Kong instead.
Almack64 (NOF - Ultrazord) @ Sep 27th 2007 2:02PM
Well I guess he has to be someone from the Sonic universe but who and from what game(s).
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Sep 27th 2007 2:04PM
I can't tell who it is, but it's gotta be from the Sonic-verse. Mario has 2 homies in each category, and so does Sonic, and they list them in an every other homie fashion.
Hey somebody, who is it?
Mr Khan @ Sep 27th 2007 6:03PM
I agree, this game was "meh" until i saw the character selection screen and the list of events
plus, legend has it that WiFi is included
WiNG @ Sep 27th 2007 2:16PM
He's "Vector the Crocodile" from Knuckles Chaotix (32X) and Sonic Heroes (multi). Lame if you ask me. It would be better to put Amy in the Strenth class, with her giant hammer and all, and put Metal Sonic in the balanced place.
Sean @ Sep 27th 2007 2:20PM
Why not throw in doubles table tennis???
WiNG @ Sep 27th 2007 2:20PM
they should include an easter egg where you can play Mario 3 with Sonic, or Sonic 2 with Mario.
Almack64 (NOF - Ultrazord) @ Sep 27th 2007 2:26PM
See now that would sell 4 million copies. Maybe Sega is hiding something...
*Speculation
*Speculation
*and MORE Speculation
Chilly Willy @ Sep 27th 2007 2:31PM
Oh man, that would be too cool. That seems too much like a game I would just go out and buy as opposed to being just an easter egg within the olympics game.
I want your suggestion so much more than this olympics game.
Atr-Slzr-Ctr @ Sep 27th 2007 2:55PM
Find the computer room
Matt @ Sep 27th 2007 3:01PM
Who else is waiting until Bubsy gets added to the list?!?!?!?!
Anybody?!
Jonny @ Sep 27th 2007 3:22PM
I just can't wait until Sony and Microsoft announce "Master Chief and Crash Bandicoot at the Special Olympics".
Prof_Chaos @ Sep 27th 2007 3:35PM
That is the funniest thing I've heard all day!!!
zombiejim @ Sep 27th 2007 7:59PM
You win the internet!
Congrats!
Sean @ Sep 27th 2007 3:56PM
I still have nightmares about Bubsy 3D.
