Okay, obviously the dude is an out of touch extremist. I won't bother attacking his ignorance, as it is so obvious from the article.

But I do have a few points to make:

1) If the country is screwed, it is because of the non-gaming generation that has brought us here. Even in the future, very few of our rich powerful leaders will be gamers. Gaming is a cheap hobby enjoyed more by the working middle class types.

2) Only a dumbass would mention the Minnesota I-35W bridge collapse in an article that starts off as anti-Halo. Master Chief did not spike grenade the 60 year old structure, most likely.

3) This article really is just written for the older generation that is failing our country and wants to have little excuses and scapegoats for our problems rather than admitting to mistakes.

You know what really pisses me off? Not that these people exist, and speak there mind, let em, but WHY DO PEOPLE TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY?!? ARE PEOPLE THAT BLIND THAT THEY CANT REALIZE WHEN SOMETHING IS AS RIDICULOUS AS THIS!?!

Okay now that I've gotten that off my chest. If anyone on here is a YTMND fan, Don't you think it would be funny to have the guy that read the ebaum letter read this? HA!

Why are you pissed off? He's marginalizing the anti-video game crusaders. I'd rather have nutjobs like LaRouche and Thompson attacking video games than intelligent people like Tipper Gore and Joe Leiberman.

People actually pay attention to Gore and Leiberman and TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY. Who takes these two nutjobs seriously?

This is no surprise: LaRouche clearly is nuts. And for a guy that encourages college students to drop out, hang out and street corners and sign Bach chorales (and he does!), he really shouldn't be throwing around the "cult" label.

My favourite line is "The more conniving method by the oligarchy is to get the population to induce its own doom." If that's true, then why are politicians introducing legislation AGAINST the sale and promotion of video games all the time?

Besides which, the intelligentsia would never attempt to screw the populace - otherwise, who would we get to do our hard labour for us? ;D

I'm really proud of myself. I was able to read two whole paragraphs before closing the tab! Phew. All you have to do is look at the previous headlines to the left of the article, and you'll know everything you need to know about LaRouche.

Whoever wrote this, uhhh, "analysis" needs to go back to grammar school. I'm only half-way through the first page and I've already spotted probably 10 comma splices...

Sent them a little email...

"Just emailing you to inform you that you seem to have mispaced one of your articles. The article "Halo 3: The ‘Third Wave’ of Destroying the U.S." was erroneously placed in the "Science and Culture" section. Taken out of context, this great work of satire (seriously, have you guys ever considered writing for The Onion?) would do a great disservice to the integrity of the LaRouche PAC. That is, if the horrors of videogames havent already eaten their brains and raped their children first."

The bottom of the page lists three whole sources. In other words, this is mostly crackpot nonsense.

I like the second source, I quote:

"
Speaking at the California Medical School in San Francisco, Aldous Huxley announced: "There will be in the next generation or so a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak. Producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda, or brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods. And this seems to be the final revolution."
"

Someone has watched Serenity one too many times methinks...

I have a doctorate, and this article still didn't make a bit of fucking sense. It's almost as if I was reading a pamphlet on Scientology- although not quite as crazy.

people like this should be arrested...for fun, I put one of Hitlers speeches on in the background and listened while I read that, matched up pretty well.

in one of the other articles, the say that the beltway snipers used Halo to train...where the F*CK do they get this crap? how many kids are playing NHL 08 to train?

and truthfully, I would be a lot more scared of a 12 yr old carrying around a book on Fusion Power than I would if they were carrying a copy of Halo 3, thank god for the sane ramblings of blog sites like this one :D

Ok, that's just plain impossible. The son COULD NOT have bought Halo 3 at Target. M-rated games are age locked and require a driver's license to purchase.

Crackpot theories lke this are fun when seen from years away I.E. when someone predicted the "dead of God" in 10 years from his tima... and didn't even die to avoid having to take it back. But this article certainly uses big words and charts, but It doesn't need them. Condensing:
1)Halo 3 is out
2)Kid's ain't protesting a whole lot (It's been a lotta help SO FAR)
3)Decide to use the most visual target for scapegoating("Bioshock isn't the blame it posterboy king no more)
4)Halo 3 exists in a world messed up, so Halo 3 is the one to blame.

Jesus needs to come back soon!

"I am LaRouche PAC. And I am here to ask you a question

Should a man not be entitled to rant about feverishly and incoherently about any game he wishes, even if he has no common sense?

NO, says the gamer, who lives start and end with games.

NO, says the grammar police, who's hatred of commas have limited sentences my sentence structures.

NO, says the man in Moscow, it belongs to everyone.

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible! I chose...

...HALO 3."

Uh, you guys know it's not LaRouche himself writing most of the articles, right? It's mostly angry kids who don't fact check, but their hearts are in the right place.

While I do kinda agree that games(or anything with a media blitz behind it) is going to distract people from actually every day events(bet half of the people on this board didn't even know that Congress actually passed a bill that explicitly labels the Iran Revolutionary National Guard, aka Iran's Army, as a "terrorist organization"), the article writers are overzealous, and end up grouping Second Life(*retch*) with Halo 3. Bad idea.
