Eh, I hate to say it but if you think it's likely now you're grabbing at straws. He clarified that it wasn't a hint. Being only allowed to say so much is probably because of Nintendo's usual "no comment" policy with regards to rumours. He was allowed to correct their mistake and no more. It's possible that it's being made in secret, but I wouldn't take this as evidence for it.

I just came across that part in the game the other day. It seemed to me like it was just intended as the name of some research project the space pirates were doing on the metroids.

We really do need a Metroid game that takes place after Fusion. I'm curious about what the Federation decides to do with Samus and Adam. Disobeying that order like they did, even if it was for the good of the universe, they could be seen as traitors.

It doesn't look like Metroid Dread is going to happen... Perhaps another completely 2D Metroid project for the DS? That would be nice.

At least, for me and other snemulds (SNES emulator for the DS, that now works) users, there is a way to play Super Metroid on the DS! :)

Personally, I would love to see a 2D Metroid project on the Wii. Not necessarily 2D graphics, but at least classic 2D gameplay, kinda like New Mario or the PSP's Castelevania. That would make me drool more than than any game I can think of in the last five or so years. Or a 2D Mario on the Wii (Super Paper Mario doesn't count, I tried it - meh). Or a 2D Sonic on the Wii. Or Castlevania or Contra or Zelda or...
