I'll use that $30 to buy some DLC for the game, or maybe 6 Little Caesars pizzas...

What kind of sucks is the PS3 one is the same price AND wireless.

The only benefit I can think that comes out of that is that I'll need less batteries.

Hopefully the roommate will be able to get this for on the cheap. Otherwise I'll probably never get this.

@ Tony:

Another plus is that you don't have to own a PS3.

is that for all instruments? What if you just want the game and use your GHII guitar?

Ummmmmmmmm $170 is outta my price range for any game. Thats like 3 regular games.. Sorry but my gaming addiction has to stop somewhere. Two copies of RB is like buying a 360 or Wii. I can spend $170 on atleast two good games that will last me much longer then one guitar filled game ill never get to play with anyone else in my house.

So how do I justify the Ace combat controller pak for $149.99? Please someone tell me.

This is the point where a game on a console becomes unappealing. It would take a "hard-core" gamer to drop that amount of stash on a band simulator. I'm glad RB enthusiast now have something to rely on. Now the hunt for temporary jobs ensue. Work for that $$ young players, work for it!

I was expecting a $200 MSRP for this, I'm very happy to hear it's $30 short of that.

Well, what can they really do... sell these at a heavy loss? It's not a console, it's a game and some controllers.

I have to imagine at some point (if not right away) things will be available separately for those who just don't need the other components... although, really, in that case you might as well just buy GHIII.

GHII plus an extra guitar is actually pretty close to this price as it is, so I don't feel too bad about this.

$30 cheaper than expected is nice, but there needs to be a X360 wireless guitar bundle.

Exactly.

I don't feel bad about this price point at all. 2 controllers, a microphone, and a game is a lot of material for that price point.

I am surprised they didn't annouce other bundling options though. Sounds like they're selling a "game only" bundle and a couple other configurations too.

@Paligap:
that is what i was looking to do too. i can't find anywhere, however, where it says rock band will be compatible with the guitar hero 2 guitar. although i have heard that somewhere. i am assuming that you can buy the game individually for 60 dollars like all other games which is what i want to do. i am considering doing this for guitar hero 3 as well if the guitar hero 2 guitar works for it. does anyone know for sure about this?

A few of you guys are complaining about the price being worth 3 games..... Well Rock Band is going to be one of the best games released this year. I'd much rather buy it than average games just so that I'll have stuff to play. If you've been saving up and not buying anything for your 360 lately, this isn't so bad. However if you've been dropping cash on any ol' games left and right this seems unreasonable.

I thought Harmonix said it would be compatible with the GHII guitar in interviews?

I hope so because I want one of them to act as the bass.

@2, I have heard rumor the PS3 guitar will charge off a usb plug, which would mean no batteries.

But my question is how Guitar Hero got cleared for a wireless guitar and not Rock Band?

@14:
The GH2 guitar should work. It works for GH3 and considering Harmonix owns the rights to the GH2 guitar (I think) it should work for Rock Band. I'm still buying the bundle and I will trade in one of my GH2 guitars, while using the other to complete the band.

About the price. This is cheaper then 3 games, while it is, in fact, 3 games (each with their own controller). You have the guitar campaign, drum campaign, and karoke, while it is going to have one awesome Multiplayer. I don't know how anyone can complain about the price!

Why do publishers almost invariably charge around 20% more than the consumer wants to pay for any given product?

Think about it, it plays across the board, regardless of game, console, accessory. Gaming in general is about 20% more expensive this generation.

Just think how many more games, peripherals, and consoles they'd be able to sell (without even trying) if only publishers were 20% less greedy.

Or maybe it's because we're all suckers...

Crazy price point, most of the people that want this can't get it and most of the people that can afford it don't want it...

They should have a low budget version to stack the odds in favor of offsetting a huge price cut scheme. If demand drops so will their prices and their revenues... So if they lower the price they will increase the demand, typically... Perhaps a version that just plays with a controller or a usb computer keyboard that you can turn like a guitar, can make this possible...

Just a friendly reminder, no one has to buy the whole bundle. You can just buy the game and one accessory if you want. They've also said they want to make it more like a console in itself rather than just a game. They want to create it into it's own entity and they plan to have a large library of songs to download.

Though, I'm glad that it's $30 cheaper than previously guesstimated.

Two things that do bother me however is the lack of a wireless guitar in the bundle for the 360 and apparently it was said in an interview that the guitar part isn't going to be as challenging or something like that.
