Confirmed: Rock Band $170 on Nov. 23 for Xbox and PS3; PS2 version coming Dec. 10 at $160

It's official folks, Rock Band will be $170 for Xbox 360 and PS3 and release Nov. 23. A Friday ... wait, Black Friday? Yes, more on that in a second. The PS2 version will release Dec. 10 for $160. Our spidey sense started tingling that something was up when we received info that Amazon was listing Rock Band for $169 -- a $30 reduction from the $199 they've had listed for months. Turns out that they received the official price today. The bundle includes the game (reg. $60, $50 on PS2), the guitar (reg. $60, but wired on Xbox 360, wireless is separate and $80), the wired drums (reg. $80), and wired microphone (reg. $30).

Now the big question: What were the powers that be thinking with November 23rd? Nov. 23rd is Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, the high holy "oh my gawd we're going to get trampled when the stores open" day of the year. Can you imagine what it's going to be like trying to pick up your game at retail on that day? Don't know about the rest of you, but if there were ever a time to get your game by mail -- this would be that time!

Black Friday? Well, not like gaming stores will be crammed / out of stock of pre-orders. You can go in at any time that day and get it just fine.

This is gonna be "the" game this year; its going to be on all the morning shows, late night shows, Oprah, etc.. people want something new and cool and WiiFit aint gonna cut it.

Rock Band will be big (maybe...we'll see if people opt for the cheaper GHIII instead), but you're fucking delusional if you think it's going to outsell WiiFit.

I haven't seen a game with such great stage presence (pun most definitely intended, deal with it) as Rock Band.

It's way too much fun to even just watch friends play it.

It's nice that they've got the guitar/drums/microphone bundle at a price point to compete with GH3 + second guitar. Good play on their part.

Im mad at gamestop for acting like its a price drop like they are doing us a favor and dropping the price so we can get it cheaper...I swear gamestop is one funny place..What we call CONSUMER MARKETING. Boy sometimes I sure do miss Funcoland. lol

ZOMG! You mean the automatic price reduction tagging in their website updating software did it's typical job? Oh shit, what a bunch of low lifes. Why, they should MANUALLY update all the HTML and PHP by hand making sure that all price reductions should get automatically flagged with special code that applies to only those items. These actions must be performed right away since this is the ONE case in several thousand where the price reduction is from the manufacturer instead of shit refusing to sell.

It's absolutely inexcusable for Gamestop to have any software which makes updating websites and such a hassle free experience. They should be creating their website in morse code like every other online retailer... oh, wait.

i worked in a grocery store once and we did all sorts of underhanded stuff. there were chalkboards behind the meat and fish counters that we would write "tilapia 7.99/lb" (or whatever we had too much of or was going bad) it wasn't a price reduction, it wasn't on sale, it was just on the magic board ... and it sold.

By MAIL??? Are you nuts? Black Friday is the BEST shopping day of the YEAR!!! Besides, there's probably going to be some killer deals out there for games and, more likely than not, next-gen systems! Free x-tra controller/game/accessory/etc. You just can't beat that! You all are crazy. I know that if I'm not working I'll be out there in the eye of the storm for dead sure!

I hope there is an option for just the guitar only. Having 3 young kids, I just wouldn't have anyone else to play with since my friends are my excuse to GET OUT of the house.

Well, looks like a guitar and the game will run me $140 so I might as well get the rest of it.

If you want to play it THAT bad then just buy a freaking PS2. You'll get the same graphics at the Wii, and PS2's can be bought for less than $80 used at most places.

They should totally spend tons of cash rushing to get even more peripherals out on a system with an online system roughly somewhere between X-Band and Dreamcast, lack of memory for DLC, and has been repeatedly shunned for third party SALES. As much as I like to have this game I can't see myself buying it. I still haven't made a choice between the ps3 and 360 and I don't really wanna get it for the soon to be dead ps2. Why o why wasn't this made for the Wii too.

Rock Band will be cool but it will NOT be the media darling, mainly because it is still considered too dorky to play fake drums online in a video game.

Okay, now what about that whole wireless 360 guitar thing? Now they should include the wireless guitar in the bundle and they'll still be $10 under that "magic price point" of $199.

So why is the whole bundle $170, but the Guitar, Drums, Mic, Game come out to $250? That seems insane to me. Sucks that they are keeping the controllers at such high prices.

Don't a lot of stores go tax-free on Black Friday? Maybe they're releasing it that day to make the price tag even more manageable.

As if working on black friday was bad enough. This will only add to what already is the most hellacious day of the year for any retail employee.
