Only +$70 over 360/Ps3 Guitar Hero 3 and I get two more instruments and more promise on DLC?

Yeah, what the shit? I wouldn't even mind them lazily porting the PS2 version over. I want this shit bad. It's not like the Wii is the fastest-selling console EVER or anything, and already using BlueTooth. They're just handing the entire poential Wii fanbase to Guitar Hero 3 on a platter here.

That remains to be seen. Let's see how GHIII sells on Wii before we ASSUME these are lost sales. After all, third party software hasn't exactly been blazing up the charts outside of launch, you know. Not to mention the added risk of the peripheral cost.

I was really hoping they'd have a $90 bundle for each instrument, a la Guitar Hero. Its a bit pricey unless you want the whole band.

Uh.. it feels like I'm getting ripped off. I already have the guitar and mic, and I just want to buy the drums and game-- wait a second, those two together is.. $140. THIRTY DOLLARS LESS THAN THE ENTIRE GOD DAMNED PACKAGE. RIP. OFF.

That's pretty excellent. Though, I bet you'll spend that $30 you were going to spend if it were $200 on DLC anyways.

Ok ... so it's 170 now instead of 200, and yet they STILL don't have a Xbox bundle option for more money with the wireless? So retarded.

170 + 70 wireless guitar = same as buying all of it separate without the bundled wired guitar ... hmmm

Do you envision yourself running more than eight or ten feet away from the USB hub? Bear in mind we don't even have a cable length on that peripheral yet, either.

I don't get the lust people have for wireless guitars, though in general I am fond of wireless controllers. I kinda prefer the aesthetic of the wired guitar since the cable runs out of the jack like a real Strat. It's a nice touch. :D

I want the wireless because the PS3 bundle has one for the same price. My ire for M$ grows from junk like that.

And where I play GH2, the wires get annoying. It's a big room with a big HDTV and we sit far away from the set.

If I really want to get semantic on the "wired" look of a guitar mimicking that of a real guitar, I'll play my Strat and not Rock Band.

Gah! Where's my Wii version!?
Yes, you can get a PS2 for $80, but I don't have $250+ (don't forget tax) to spend on Rock Band when I should be able to just spend ~$160 on Rock Band for Wii.

Well, at least my best friend has a 360...

First - yeah, it's ridiculous that it's not on Wii. The PS2 version should be structurally comparable to a Wii port, so maybe we'll see one down the road.

That being said --

You know, for a game so focused on DLC, maybe you should consider the importance of saving up for it on another console (unless that's out of the question.) Either way, I think there's a much better return on your investment if you buy it on 360/PS3.

In terms of the number of peripherals, $170 is a bargain when you stack it against the $90(?) MSRP for Guitar Hero 3's PS3/360 bundle. Being able to play with three people out of the box is pretty awesome.

Also I know I keep saying this but this is the most fun game I have ever (EVAR) played. :D Can't wait.

Only if the drums and microphone average out to more than the guitar. Guitar Hero charges $30 for the guitar, and $60 for the game, regardless of how much the guitar costs, that's how it works out in retail. Rock Band charges $110 for three peripherals, assuming $30 for the guitar, much less for the mic, unless the drums are worth more than twice the amount the guitar is worth, then you're not getting away with much of a deal.

Black-frickin'-Friday?! Crap. I swore that I'd never sit in one of the gawd-forsaken lines again. I was wondering what the odds would be for getting it at a game store, but this reeks of something that you'll have to preorder to get on launch day from them. Well, at least they'll probably have a trade-in bonus if you pay toward the preorder... Gotta finish some games, now.

It really doesn't make much sense not to have a wii version, unless they don't see the casual gamer buying a $160 game.

Im sure it will hit the wii at some point...

I don't care if it comes with controllers. $170 is way too much for a game, especially after paying $400 for the console. It's a relatively simple game too, and for $170, new controllers or not, is just not worth it.

Does anybody know what the buttons equate to on the 360 Drum controller?

A friend and I are building a Drummania ASC for PC use this weekend, we were going to use a PS2 controller like we have for every other specialty controller we've built, but I'm starting to think building it on 360 hardware might be more worthwhile, since we'd be able to use it with Rock band when it comes out.

You can buy just the game + one instrument for cheaper. I'm gonna buy just the drums...I have a feeling that drums is going to rock! But maybe I'll buy all of, 4 games in one...worth it.

And to think that people laughed at Steel Battalion's $200 price tag. But take just $30 off and apperently that becomes a "good deal" for a peripheral game...

well inflation has been going on a few years since SB. and this game includes 3 instruments, right? also there's huge hype about it, which is great for the online play crowd, since they'll have more people to play with

1. Inflation hasn't been THAT much since Steel Battalion. 2. Steel Battalion's one controller is an absolute monster and very well built. If the Guitar Hero 1&2 controllers are anything to go by, then those three Rock Band controllers are all basically cheap plastic toys. So, three cheap flimsy controllers versus one huge well-built controller, I figure it's more or less even.

What happened to the Rock Band guitars being fully compatible with the Guitar Hero games? Is that still happening? Because I had been planning on just waiting and buying all the hardware for Rock Band, and then going back and buying GH2 and GH3.
